What happens when you wiggle the rubber loom that goes between the lift gate and the body? The all the wires that operate the components in the lift gate pass through that bell owes. if there is a wiring harness issue that would be a good place to start.

Do yourself a favor and never use this type of splice on any type of wiring unless it is for some one you do not like. These are quick and cheap and very unreliable. The twist on wire nut definitely have issues with vibration. The posi Tap connectors are good . As Don has stated The best is crimping or soldering with heat shrink

Sounds like the manual was written after someone found the design flaw in the reel!!

Doing a lot of Custom Stuff This Weekend

Which ones? -
I will try and drive the Diesel if any Dealer has one. The Design issues can be worked out of the power plant, but the 40+ Hp penalty could be more of an issue. As time wears on the seat and ability to control the radio with out an issue out weighs the mechanical coolness.

Which Diesel does it have ? Did you say it is faster than your ecoboost?

Ah yes the transmission weep. I have been watching mine for 65000mi, a few oz between oil changes . It is very very consistent . They will drain the Trans to do the seal so that would be a good time to do a flush. The Cooling system Recall will install a coolant level sensor and software to make sure the engine does not overheat and crack the Cyl Head making a fire risk. A low coolant level sensor would be good for every Vehicle on the road . The Lpg tank is where the Spare tire use to be right? That would be in a place where water and road salt could get to, Corrosion would be a real possibility. The LPG is still a good thing?

Any Experiences With a Transmission Cooler?
G B L replied to JAVMAN's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
If you get a good scanner it will have the transmission information including the fluid temp. You can see what the trans is running for temp with out the trailer, and then see what the temp is with the trailer. That as Eddy Kilowatt indicated will give you a very good starting point . I use mine for towing a lot Keeping the fluid fresh is one of the best things you can do. -

2014+ Anyone have issues with water getting into engine compartment?
G B L replied to kkielinski's topic in Gasoline
I know there was a issue with the 2.0 where the plug well could fill up with water if the boot was not right . This could cause water to enter the engine through the valve cover. How many times did they have to change the oil to get the traces of water out? -
All electric transit purchase
G B L replied to RobertA's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Alas like the adjustable head lights and the Instrument cluster storage We in North America are not allowed the electric van option!! -
tworock I have done the fluid change twice. My interval is 25000 mi , I tow a trailer a fair amount, its an easy job. The Trans works the fluid hard.

Considering that 4 valve Twin cam engines have been around since the 1912 Peugeot L76 Grand Prix race car. The Iron block push rod engine reference is good. The easiest way to make HP is Displacement.

The related over heat issue was solved after 12/2014. The 1.6 engine could have had a cooling system modification that made the service bulletin fix unnecessary, which would eliminate the software fix need . In any event Ford should figure a way to return the Speedometer feature as it is one of the more useful items. Keep on it you will prevail.

Oh well . I will be interested in how it compares to the current TC's in terms of performance . As a side Note There are several videos about the potential issues with Carbon deposits on the Direct injected engines, due to the oil mist from the crank case and no fuel cleaning the intake valves. You might want to check them out

EV cars would move to the mainstream very rapidly if the manufactures could move to the battery tool model with changeable batteries . If the size and voltage were universal then EV's would become viable instantly. mrtn did you drive the diesel version of your TC before you purchased your 1.6 Turbo?
-
You Need a scanner for sure. The first thing to do is check the fluid level. what year , how many miles?
-
The dealer needs to put an amp meter in series with the battery and remove the fuses and circuit breakers one at a time to see where the draw is , then they will know if it is a hardware issue or a software issue. The normal parasitic draw should not kill the battery for at least a month. Today's vehicles have lots of computers and the memory functions cause a very small continuous load on the battery.
