  1. I got the Deflectors from ford. The front ones blew off, but the rear door deflectors are hanging in there so far!
  2. They make a tester that sniffs the radiator for the presence of combustion gas. It is a good way to test for a head gasket problem. Compression leaks do not always show up in the exhaust. There was an overheat Recall on the 1.6 engine. You should check to see if yours is covered, if so take it to ford.
  3. That is good to here. Here is a fuel heat comparison chart for all the fuels. The fuel mileage will follow the chart pretty closely . I I hope you have a good radio and the AC is in good shape for your trip! fuel_comparison_chart.pdf
  4. Sounds like the Propane is a winner for you where you are considering the Gasoline cost. Have you had any other issues other than the tank corrosion issue . It will be good when we can test the Diesel and have a real world test . You will have to be the 1.6 turbo Gas and propane control and I will have to be 2.5 Gas control! The energy difference between Gas and Diesel is about 25% which will translate to the 30.2 Mpg the 2019 diesel claims and the 25.5 I am averaging.
  5. mrtn does the propane do better than gas for cost even if it won"t match the diesel cost? The other up side for you is the propane should keep the Intake valve carbon issue better.
  6. The full size spare tire on mine does not have a Tpms unit .
  7. I am not entering the fuel debate. On the Towing and diesel debate I will say this . The current Medium and light duty diesels do not seem to have the reliability and longevity that the Class 7-8 truck engines have. The advertised hp of the transit connect Diesel is 120Hp. The current 2.5 liter engine in my TC has 169 hp. I have done lots of towing . The higher Torque will not make up the 49 less Hp . I will drive a diesel when I find one as I am very interested to see how it drives.
  8. Have you shifted into neutral and tried to crank the engine?
  9. If the engine has normal compression and no mechanical noises you should be able to find out what is going on. Please let us know what you find.
  10. I guess before the heaters they gave the horses more oats on cold days. I have a tractor with a Kubota diesel. The heater makes a huge difference when it is below zero.
  11. Since I posted the parts picture I have not really looked to see how hard it would be to install the heater. Next time I have the Tc up on the lift I will take a look. I am in northern Vt . With synthetic oil and a good battery I have had no issues At minus 25 degrees. The plug in your picture is the block heater.
  12. Sorry to hear that ford is not holding up their end of the stick. It still looks to me that the new latch was not installed correctly. Is the repair being done at the same dealer that did the recall? If so it could be a conflict of interest! Looks like if I replace the latches it will be done by me.
  13. I will have to take a test ride in the Diesel before I would consider one. Hopefully some one gets some on spec.
  14. Great News At least the outcome is positive
  15. Good Call PhotoAl I have seen lots of motors and transmissions for under a 1000. Finding the right shop is the Test.
  16. OK how much? Can you buy it at Walmart !
  17. It depends on what you are buying. If you want a different style or size then a new car is what you need. if the car fits the purpose and the body is rust free then you can replace what you need to make the car reliable. every car costs so much a year to run. If deprecation is no longer part of the cost , the cost is less.
  18. The real question here is how much do you like the TC, and how good is the body? If you are buying transportation fixing the car you already own is almost always cheaper than a new one. Sounds like most of the problems you have are related to not finding a good enough repair shop. How did the shop confirm the low compression on No 2?
  19. Have you Removed the O2 sensor and taken a pressure reading , If the converter is starting to plug it will give you a similar condition.
  20. They are working Just fine. Not going for the recall any time soon. Your left slider is definitely hitting something hard. The adjustment must not be right. This is what I am using it is real grease and stays around. Amazon has it.
  21. The Gen 1 had two hinge styles , a 180 Degree and a 270 Degree. You will need to replace all 4 if you want to change to the 180 Degree hinges.
  22. The movement of the engine is completely normal. Yes all of that can cause Vibration. An unbalanced tire can do it, or a bad wheel bearing,
