Purchasing a New 16TC - XLT
G B L replied to Daniel Eoin Duarte's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
The Gen 1 has 48.1" Between the Wheel house's . The Gen 2 Van has 48.3" between the Wheel house's. The Gen 2 Wagon has 46.9" between the wheel house's. The Gen 1 is 6+" inches taller . If the 48"X48" is not to high it will fit in both Vans. I miss the Gen 1 270 degree door opening. -
Considering Transit Connect - Gen 1
G B L replied to kxrf's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
As a Gen 2 owner and having driven the Gen 1. If the absolute height is the issue then your answer is the Gen 1 . The Drive ability of the Gen 2 is better . The brakes on the Gen 2 are much better . The seats will take any load the TC can handle folded flat . Removing the third seat take under an hour . I have 2 sets of wheels winter and summer the tpms is no issue. The Vehicle rust issue is definitely dependent on where the TC does most of its miles. mrtn is correct about the mud, slush and salt spray, good flaps are very important. -
Are US transit connects shorter in 2014?
G B L replied to Boomerweps's topic in Lounge Transit Connect
The us market must not have been the only reason for the up date . Ford must have decided that the line needed a change. The EU has a much greater selection of Vans. Having the Transit Custom in the line allowed Ford to streamline the Transit Connect without leaving a big hole in their offering's -
Installing brake controller
G B L replied to fazbot's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
I found the 13 pin module in the wiring diagram, not sure that is available here. mrtn How may wires or contacts does your trailer connector have? Here trailers are not required to have brakes until the weight is 3000 lbs. Ford rates the TC to tow 2000 lbs. Here is a link to a brake controller install video on a 2013 ford Escape. The layout of the Escape is very close to the TC. it should help https://www.etrailer.com/tv-install-tekonsha-prodigy-p3-brake-controller -

Hey This says it all!! This is from National Geographic

Is the Throttle Linkage mechanical on your TC or is it Electronic?
-
Great Point! If the voltage is high enough to arc from the sky to the ground, Then 1/2 inch, 6 inches or a mile probably won't be enough.
-
I have always heard that the metal frame provided a sort of safety cage for the bulk of the power to pass around you to the ground. The power in a Lightning bolt is tremendous and unpredictable. It is very good that Osco ended up with a Good roll of the dice.

Nice .

I have not measured them but they should be ok. There should be speakers in the window pillars for sure. Go to the sound settings and Bump up the Trebble and you should hear the speakers.
-
I sure does. Glad is was not worse. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Sounds like a good plan, Pay attention to the valve timing when the timing cover is changed. http://www.ask.com/youtube?q=Ford+2.0+liter+focus+engine+valve+timing&v=RqwnDmDkZrQ&qsrc=472 Keep us posted on the adventure.

In the power distribution box under the hood 30A 30B and 30C are relays that are in the Cooling fan circuit. The cooling fan diode is no 32 in that box. You can test there for power and you can also see if the fan works from there.
-
If the engine that you are installing is complete The time should be less. If the transmission is being rebuilt and the Engine only has 7K then the drive train will almost be new. If the shop knows what they are doing it should go well. If the TC Does not have rust, then it should go fast.

Converted 2015 LWB Wagon into a Van
G B L replied to DonShockley's topic in Accessories and Modifications
The best part is that you will still have the option of the seats if your situation changes . -
Not Yet, but it sounds like the door latches need to be adjusted to take the movement out the door.

Not sure if this helps but Tire rack lists 64 17X8 alloy wheels that should fit your TC -
Converted 2015 LWB Wagon into a Van
G B L replied to DonShockley's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Mine is a wagon and Don is right if you can live with the 6 inch height reduction then the TC is a perfect compromise. In my case I have the back completely filled with tools with the Middle seat up . I made a floor extension that makes the Third seat extend up to the back doors . this is a very handy Vehicle. -
