  1. I have used that method lots of times, on lots of cars. The lay out is tight and transmission drain is very easy to get to. You need to be under the TC to check the level.
  2. Sounds like a great fit for you. Welcome looking forward to reports of your adventure
  3. Have you tried to gently push in on the lift gate while pushing the key fob? Also try pushing the unlock button while a second person bounces the lift gate. Now that the gate is open does the lock opperate?
  4. The job keeps getting better and better. The vent you put in the roof makes AC unit an easy install. If you camp in the summer in the south west, there is a 12 volt evaporate cooler (Swamp Cooler) that mounts in the 14X14 vent you put in the roof. I think a light trailer that is in the slip stream for the extra gear would be what I would choose.
  5. Fifty 150 you have the cool button, we will have to pull ours apart to see if the harness is there for us.
  6. Fifty 150 you are lucky I Wish that I had the simple version. I wonder what the harness in there looks like.
  7. Very nice job the progress is impressive . Looking forward to the finished camper. Where's the first destination ?
  8. The problem with the TC traction control is not at speed. when the traction is low and the traction control should act like positraction it cuts the power to almost nothing. At speed it acts as Iit should.
  9. With good tires the TC is just fine in the snow, not all weel drive good. The traction control algorithm was written buy someone who never had to drive up hill in the snow. Find out how to switch it off in the info center and be ready to turn it off. The resonator is no issue in the snow.
  10. Mine is built in. Knowing how to use the side mirrors is more important.
  11. The first set of winters are Continental winter contacts. I have a general preference for Nokian winter tires and that what the next set will be. My last set of Nokian's were made in Russia
  12. I am agreeing with you. If you spend enough time operating at 5000 feet and above with a limited hp engine then the Turbo (which does not have a hp loss ) is the power plant to chose. If you are not at Altitude the extra cost is harder to justify
  13. The ones I have, I Fabricated . They are low to the ground and extend inward at least 12". The Material I used is a Rubber belt material. Flexible and Rugged. The Road Debris comes off the bottom of the tire and hits the Rocker panel over a foot behind the wheel. Find a Dirt road in The Vast wilderness outside of DC on a Rainy day Take a drive and look at the Spatter. You will be able to put a straight edge from the wheel to the rocker and see how low the flap needs to go. Any thing less will not do the job.

Fifty 150 sounds like the accountants were Ford guy's. The life of a windscreen is good til the next rock. The only defense is having enough distance to the vehicle in front of you . Having done that you have a better chance to avoid the debris. Not 100 %

Lots of Astros did lots of miles, and a very good Awd version also . Not to easy to work on.
  16. Welcome chong I look forward to your travels and performance reports when you take Your TC up to altitude.
  17. chong its 1% per 1000 feet and you are one of the few people that the Turbo engine is perfect for.
  18. The other problem with the Firestone Explorer was that Ford used a tire designed to run much more pressure and pressed Firestone to endorse it . The Safe solution was to have Firestone design and build a tire that gave the explorer the desired ride with ample safety. I have seen several Cows do very well on Ice!
  19. the Mercedes Metris is sized like the Ford Transit Custom . The Transit Custom is one size bigger that the Transit Connect.
  20. The TC's Instrument panel Lights are on all the time it is just part of the operating parameters of the vehicle. It should be possible for the BCM to be programed with the DRL feature.
  21. Here is the post I did on the Transmission Change. The hardest part of this operation will be getting the TC Jacked up. Should be almost level . Remove the Under body dust shield . Look for the Drain Plug. 11 mm or 7/16 wrench. ] This style funnel will slide down into the Vent plug you just removed Put 3 quarts of fluid in [attacjpg] ] Run the TC for 5 to 10 minutes . Then drain the fluid again. Repeat this 2 more times You have Now used 9 quarts of fluid. Put the Drain plug back in make it snug this time. Add 3 quarts of fluid You have now used 12 quarts. Go under the car and Look for the indicator plug (14 mm wrench) Loosen the plug. Do not remove yet Start the engine with the engine running and the Car in park pull the plug and add fluid into the funnel until it just drips out the Indicator hole Replace plug put the Dust shield on , Pull the funnel and replace the vent cap. Total Fluid 13 Qts. With most of number 13 left There is no filter to change on this operation and the type of fluid is Mercon LV. Have fun!
