  1. You could be right. I think the dealer is the one to order the heater here for cars they buy for stock vehicles . My TC was ordered for a Newport Vermont dealer 8 miles from the Canadian border and it did not have a heater installed. If I had done a special order I would have put one in. Thanks for the great post.
  2. Another Idea is to find the drivers harness and sensor and install them on the right side. The Job might be easier if the Left seat can be swapped for the right seat and the drivers side harness re located to the right side. Then the lights would be off. The passenger seat does not require a person for normal operation. Keep us posted.
  3. Just checked fordparts they get $145 for the heater. It must take over two hours tol put it in. That would explain the cost. It will be worth it hope they do a good job.
  4. go to FordParts.com and check the parts list for your tc and then check the Door diagram for a van with no rear glass if the doors are the same you should find the panel. If not then one can be fabricated
  5. Cool! Let us know the cost if you can.
  6. Sounds like getting the Wagon from the Factory is a much better deal!! As for the Low Beams use the Adjustment under the hood and it will make them much better.
  7. The standard coolant mix is good to -34F Even if it is colder nothing will break. If you have Synthetic Oil The cold should not be a problem. With the electric cooling fan the engine will maintain temp. When it is very cold the real challenge is to warm up the rest of the drive train and suspension components after a long -40F night.
  8. The heaters that ford installs are a electric element that are made like a block core plug and are installed in the block. It is located at the front of the block . It will take a couple of hours and a coolant drain to put it in. chong check out page 168 of the 2016 Owners manual. COLD WEATHER PRECAUTIONS The functional operation of some components and systems can be affected at temperatures below -13°F (-25°C). My TC has seen -26 and I am still not sure what the cryptic message means if you find out please let us know! Very cool on the Auto Start!
  9. A 215/60/16 will ad 3.6% to the diameter and .4 inches to the Sidewall height. I think I will try that size for the next set of Tires . There are several sets that have the extra load range that the TC wants.
  10. Good to know, The part number Part No: 6M2Z-17A954-A - List Price $31.81 from the earlier post is a good Ford part number and any Ford dealer can get it. The Anti Tow Hook lobby is stronger in the States and Ford was happy not to make it standard.
  11. Sounds Very nice, Remember the amount of heat produced is watts. So the amount of power is the same for 12 volts and 110. Ten amps kills one of your batteries in less than 10 hours. Looking forward to the finish with the pre expedition pictures.
  12. Cool. You said you wanted it for the electric Blankets That would make quiet operation important
  13. My set has 32000 on them, The winter set has 10000 plus. The summer set are getting thin but are wearing well. Next spring will need a new set. I would add side wall height if I could.
  14. That's cool. You now have 100000KM till the next chance at Odometer immortality !
  15. Looks very nice. You want to load the inverter and make the fan work. It looks like the inverter will be right under someone's head. It would be an unpleasant surprise on a very cold night in the middle of South Dakota.
  16. The voc requirements have forced the producers to switch to water based coatings. The paint chipping and blisters have affected all the major car manufacturers at some point. If rust and crossion is an issue several companies 3m, Fluid Flim, and a Canadian product Crossion Free all are good to protect that area of the car.
  17. That is a nice set up. You have to make sure the kit you get has all the stuff. Some do and some don't
  18. Thanks. If you ever get on a really small poorly lit road make a video
  19. They could but there would have to be a way to make a camber adjustment if the Height is raised a lot.
  20. Nice . Can't wait to see the rig with all the gear aboard.
  21. You will not get a 15 inch rim to fit the front hub because of the brakes . The 215 60 16 will add a 1/2 inch to the sidewall height . A 215 65 16 will add just under 1 inch to the sidewall. This tire will rub the body on some tight turns. The TC will need a mechanical lift to get a big change in the ride height.
  22. With the seat in and you driving in the right seat is there any issue ? If there is no issue then you should be able to find the sensor in the seat and mount it under the letter tray with the harness plugged in
  23. The unibody can be straightened. The complexity of all the systems makes the retail process so expensive that the car is totalled. Then if it is good enough a body repair that does salvage rebuilds will buy it and rebuild it and then sell it with a salvage title.
  24. The factory 0% was avalible when I purchased mine. The other price Iincentives that were available made the 2.9% loan from another bank a better deal over all. So you have to work out all the financing paths to be sure.
