  1. Hey fixing the fan and the AC could make the under hood temps much lower. The Alternator output and voltage gets much lower as the temp rises. You may have found the issue. Looking forward to the next post. Carry on
  2. Does charging the Battery after two days still Help? You need a good scan tool that can check the BCM (body Control Module)

    Oil

I think you will find that the TC will carry its Rated cargo weight Very well . Today I had 4 people and my tool kit (400-500 Lbs ) in the car and it did a very competent job .
  4. The List of options is done at the corporate level here , The Dealer is very limited in what they control. The emissions are limiting the Diesel's here due to the low numbers. If the gas stays cheap the other fuel types are hard pressed to make a number's gain. The Propane rig that mrtn has would be most interesting if the fuel were available at the cost advantage he has.
  5. That looks like a great unit . I have an XLT Wagon and the Rear heat and AC fan will make the box install difficult . The box having a lock and you having the Key does not constitute your control?

    Oil

Every Car I have had any thing to do with since 1964 has gone over 150000mi. There were Several Oldsmobile's with Carburetors that went well over 200000 and it wasn't the worn out engine that ended the ride, Around here with out special care 12- 15 years is the life of a car used 12 month's a year.

    Oil

Most car owners never plan to keep their car for a 100,000 miles. The oil choice for them is not a big deal no mater what engine or what service.
  8. What about the box under the passenger seat could you put a lock on it.

    Oil

The engine oil and filter debate has more than one acceptable answer. The one thing that is very clear, is the oil being used in the engine with the filter magnet is not good!
  10. No chance the belt is sliping ? IF you open the hood just after you shut off the engine is the alternator pulley very hot ?
  11. Transportation Value means different things to everyone. Sounds like your rig is meeting your needs.
  12. After the car buying voodoo is over did you get enough transportation value for the money spent.
  13. Would like to know if the state of charge of the battery is less after two days. I need to see the wiring diagram for the Gen 1 Quite a puzzle
  14. Great point . Getting a roll of Duct Tape to hold the Door closed in the meantime !
  15. You are doing all the right things. The fact that charging the battery cures it for two days is very interesting. Knowing the level of charge of the battery after two days before the charge would help. Do you have a hydrometer ?
  16. Did you put an amp meter in series with the positive battery to check what the parasitic draw is? If you have a scan tool you can get the voltage while you are driving. If you don't get a volt meter and plug it into the power point . Check the voltage while under way. The alternator amp output also needs to be checked with the lights , AC and the blower on. It should be more than enough to carry the load. Keep the up dates comming .
  17. Thank you for the pictures. Be very careful removing the plug, Over time and lots of heat cycles the plastic will become brittle. It might be a good Idea to get a second plug so the quick weekend oil change does not turn into an ordeal.
  18. You are Correct if the harness does not have the signal wires then there is no network connection.. Did you happen to notice if all the pins in the Connector had contacts or the number of wires coming matched the number of pins? It is going to get even more interesting as the Wires are replaced with fiber optics.
