  1. Transportation Value means different things to everyone. Sounds like your rig is meeting your needs.
  2. After the car buying voodoo is over did you get enough transportation value for the money spent.
  3. Would like to know if the state of charge of the battery is less after two days. I need to see the wiring diagram for the Gen 1 Quite a puzzle
  4. Great point . Getting a roll of Duct Tape to hold the Door closed in the meantime !
  5. You are doing all the right things. The fact that charging the battery cures it for two days is very interesting. Knowing the level of charge of the battery after two days before the charge would help. Do you have a hydrometer ?
  6. Did you put an amp meter in series with the positive battery to check what the parasitic draw is? If you have a scan tool you can get the voltage while you are driving. If you don't get a volt meter and plug it into the power point . Check the voltage while under way. The alternator amp output also needs to be checked with the lights , AC and the blower on. It should be more than enough to carry the load. Keep the up dates comming .
  7. Thank you for the pictures. Be very careful removing the plug, Over time and lots of heat cycles the plastic will become brittle. It might be a good Idea to get a second plug so the quick weekend oil change does not turn into an ordeal.
  8. You are Correct if the harness does not have the signal wires then there is no network connection.. Did you happen to notice if all the pins in the Connector had contacts or the number of wires coming matched the number of pins? It is going to get even more interesting as the Wires are replaced with fiber optics.
  9. The whole car is controlled By the CAN network It is all done with digital signals.
  10. They Have a Taxi version with A rear seat. A Van you would not mind Drilling a hole in the Console !
  11. Keep us Posted on the Plastic Sump . If you Can Take a picture. Thanks
  12. I have the same thing. Works very well. Getting the Spare out from under the TC if you have a flat is a challenge.
  13. The Motorcraft part Number (FP-75 )is correct The filter I ordered arrived and is the right one.
  14. A Great Idea I have used those on a few boats. .You have me thinking.
  15. Not yet on the Haynes Manual. The Turn signals are controlled by the Body Control Module . No flasher.
  16. Thanks for the up date. Mine is on the list I will be getting a letter.
  17. I would love to see what the TC's that come into the country and are converted to a van look like. I suspect that the interior set up is not as good as the real wagon. It would be nice to see a pre conversion photo of the inside.
  18. The Gen 1 has 48.1" Between the Wheel house's . The Gen 2 Van has 48.3" between the Wheel house's. The Gen 2 Wagon has 46.9" between the wheel house's. The Gen 1 is 6+" inches taller . If the 48"X48" is not to high it will fit in both Vans. I miss the Gen 1 270 degree door opening.
  19. As a Gen 2 owner and having driven the Gen 1. If the absolute height is the issue then your answer is the Gen 1 . The Drive ability of the Gen 2 is better . The brakes on the Gen 2 are much better . The seats will take any load the TC can handle folded flat . Removing the third seat take under an hour . I have 2 sets of wheels winter and summer the tpms is no issue. The Vehicle rust issue is definitely dependent on where the TC does most of its miles. mrtn is correct about the mud, slush and salt spray, good flaps are very important.
  20. The us market must not have been the only reason for the up date . Ford must have decided that the line needed a change. The EU has a much greater selection of Vans. Having the Transit Custom in the line allowed Ford to streamline the Transit Connect without leaving a big hole in their offering's
