Excited owner of new to me 2014 Transit Connect XLT (SWB) wagon
mrtn replied to Guitars4cancer's topic in Welcome!
Thought the wagon didn’t have XL load rating. At least the old shape didn’t. -
It’s pretty common I guess. Just checked my regular tire supplier, they have 8 different summer tires in stock and it’s off season: https://rehvid.com/tires?size=215_55_16&seasons=summer

That’s above my pay grade.

Do you have another key? The immobilizer coil in the barrel is known to cause issues.

The little holes are most likely car alarm microwave radars. I have had them on all my cars as add-on (usually on A-pillar). Definitely not phone microphones. I too have them on the shelf but my microphone is on the head unit.

2012 TC Build- Cross country adventure van

Me neither but having seen moisture building up behind fixed panels in cars I can’t get the image out of my head. I have no idea what to do. Farm boy logic says I would drill holes in the bottom and near roof for convection to do the job but it may have the opposite effect. I talked to the contractors building my house, they say that a tight insulation prevents condensation buildup. Again, I have no idea but I would love to hear from anyone competent for the time I (possibly) decommission and start building mine (my 2012 wagon). -

Have you thought about venting the wall panels somehow to prevent condensation and the subsequent black mold? -
I was just at the customer a couple of days ago servicing a printer and the regular “guy chit chat” came down to complaining about stiff hips and too low seat position for long drives. How did that happen? Damn.

It’s easy to romantisize the crank parking meter. Smells like cigarette smoke in planes and doctors’ waiting rooms. And Nylon stockings. -

Sorry, OLDSCHOLFOOL, about the wording mistakes. English is my fourth language and I slip every now and then. If the meters are only used for something like 1% of parking then maintaining the system is not viable. You don't need a smartphone for parking, it also works over a text message by sending your car number and the parking area code (city, central, private parking lots each have their own code) to the number 1902 and cancel by calling 1903. That's how it was originally designed in y 2000 and it still works. Using the smartphone app just adds convenience features like GPS detection of the area and saving your vehicles for quick pick. As for welcome, tourist areas are equipped with pay stations in visible range and English instructions for using the SMS-based system. Does anyone know anyone driving a car and traveling who doesn't own a mobile phone of any sort? -
That’s the curious case, had the first car for 18 years/150K miles before sending it to the wrecker. Luckily I had two identical ones, the second one is still going strong.

True. I have a 21 year old Corolla and the seats look brand new. Not a mark of use on any of them.

We don’t have any parking meters left anymore. There are cash/card pay machines at designated parking lots/structures in the city center but since phone parking was introduced in 2000 the parking meters started to phase out and were gone in a few years. -
Then again, it’s a really cheap add-on for the added safety and convinience.

Oh, a parking meter, haven’t seen that in a while. -

I’m now thinking a reflective tent cover of suitable size should be good to hook up to the walls and mid height for sleeping in winter. -
True story:
-
Mk1 handles snow better than most SUVs. Extremely well balanced, good ground clearance and directional stability (apart from side wind).

Does it sit flush? Reminds me of this fullsize Transit: -
Did you also get the comfort leads for your CTEK charger? I got a set for all my batteries so I don't need to open the battery compartments for charging. The plugs are easily accessible.
-
Are you reprogramming the tires for speedo calibration?

There's also difference in MY numbering: European numbers are based on calendar year, US uses MY a year ahead. Sometimes 18 months ahead.

The bumper, grille and headlights are different, so is the dashboard:
