  1. Version 2.3.19 beta for Windows is THE version you would use to make configuration changes or in depth diagnostics and maintenance functions. You simply request an extended license to do configuration changes. The adapter needed to communicate with your vehicle is about $80 so that part is not free. The Forscan Lite app for a phone is slightly more powerful than Torque Pro in that it can read and clear DTCs. The app is not free
  2. Fifty, Other forums (Fusion, Escape etc) have tried this without much success. The F150 forum was the most successful. But the F150 has a different program structure from the TC, Focus and other euro models. Forscan is not as universally configurable on these platforms that use a Central Configuration architecture. The challenge is learning what Forscan can do with the configurationsc that have been configured in CC. My TC has almost all the factory options so I don't know if Forscan can add them to a plain vehicle. Then there are the changes from model year to model year. So essentially, you simply need to try something on your vehicle to learn if it will work. I read the Forscan forum and many questions go unanswered because nobody with the exact model, year and options has tried or experienced the issue. But, Forscan is a great diagnostic tool and has many service features like resetting computer modules that can be very useful. .
  3. I would verify the proper program was installed in the Smart sensors. Check out their website. It has a lot of info. It looks like you need hardware and an account to update the Smart sensor programming. I doubt a Ford dealer will troubleshoot the aftermarket sendors. You can buy am oem sensor and see if it is recognized during the re-learn process. This will tell you the ECU in the vehicle is working. Part no. 9L3Z-1A289A. Approx $55.
  4. Looks like Forscan has a procedure for wiper calibration.. This may work if you manually reset the wiper to the home position. Using Forscan requires an adapter. Search this forum and YouTube for Forscan details.
  5. Sounds like a problem with the body control module (BCM). This is the main computer for everything in the TC except engine control. Troubleshooting the BCM requires special tools and documentation. You may have to go to a dealer.
  6. Ecoboost only available on 2014-2016 SWB vehicles. It's a fun engine if you can find one.
  7. Yes, you can pry the door panels off with other tools. But the panel tools make it much easier and you are less likely to damage anything. Many other parts of the TC are held together with clips. I promise you will use these tools more than once. 8. I think the switch/sensor is in the latch mechanism. This post shows where this signal goes into the door module (computer). You should be able to measure a signal change (+12 to 0V for example) when the latch is opened or closed. This will tell you if its the switch or the door module.
  9. It seems the vehicle is ok. Your decision should be based on the cost savings of buying a used vehicle with 60k miles. Will the cost to repair any likely problems or necessary maintenance be more than the savings of buying a newer vehicle or one with less miles? For many of us who do our own maintenance and repair it makes sense to save the money up front. If we saved $3k on the purchase, that buys a lot of parts. If you pay a shop for repairs the math is worse. If my budget was tight, I would negotiate a deal that factored in money to do some PM and minor repairs (brakes etc).
  10. Yes. Switching modes activates different programming. The computer will not do anything harmful to the transmission. I found that S mode automatically downshifts during a steep descent (9% on a twisting mtn road). I only had to steer. The computer kept the speed under control.
  11. I understand that it will be decades before every building in the US has electricity. Until then we can rest assured knowing at least one in 10,000 have gasoline to keep us moving across the country.
  12. I know it's a big paradigm shift, but the electric car solves all the technical problems of the clean diesels. Plus it easily passes the 0-60 test. Was it too crazy to think everyone would willingly pay $100+ monthly to carry a computer in their pocket that tracks their every move? Ford and the rest of the auto industry knows where their future lies. I really like my TC. But I also look forward to the days were oil, coolant and transmission fluids are not on my garage shelves.
  13. No on the 2014-2016 f you have a lift gate door. I don't know if they changed the 2018s.
  14. Check out the Green filters as an alternative to the K&N. Some forums think they filter better due to a better filter media.
  15. In the turbo world it seems everyone installs a "high flow" air filter. But there is serious doubt if they improve performance. Add a new air box, cold air intake, new hoses etc and the vehicle will sound different but real measurable gains on a Dyno are elusive. Only after upgrading the tune or turbo do you see real performance improvements. Install the K&N if it filters better and you want it, but don't expect more horsepower.
  16. In California I think the warranty period is automatically increased by the time the vehicle was in for repairs. This is by statue, not dealership policy.
  17. Fifty is right. The existing wire is 18ga I think. The constant load of the lights and fan is too much. Don't take any chances. See forum posts on adding a fuse or directly wiring to the aux junction box in the back (if you have one). You can get fancy and add a switch panel, USB ports etc.
  18. The S mode changes the shift points even when you don't use the manual buttons. In my 1.6l TC it removes the shift delay when I accelerate hard. I use it all the time and never use the shift buttons.
  19. Browse and search the forum. Several have upgraded speakers and sound systems. I posted info on connecting power to large loads. The basic Sync and Sync3 head units are made by Sony. Install a quality amp (that accepts line inputs) and/or DSP and the sound is great. Only reason to upgrad head unit is for custom features and display. Finally, there are some discussions on sound deadening, but more info can be found on car audio forums. Check out the Audicontrol products to convert your line level inputs if necessary. Have fun and welcome.
  20. The door module (small computer in the door) is probably faulty or has lost a connection.Tough to diagnose without a scanner.
  21. The doors have a vapor barrier between the metal door skin and interior panels. I personally would not cut it, but if you did you could repair it with glue and/or tape. But, I agree this is a warranty issue. The screws are metric and somebody probably tried to install the wrong screws. I would use this as an excuse to buy a rivet nut tool on Amazon. About $60 with nut inserts. Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442 13" Hand Rivet Nut Setter Kit - Metric & SAE W/ 60pc Rivnuts https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TODXQW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mGVfCbZMQ6V74
  22. Maybe this will work? https://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-st-performance/28685-have-you-heard-turbo-transformer-tuning-device-5.html#/topics/152395?page=1
