Try eBay. Sometimes a dealer might have an old owners manual in the attic.

Top 5 Things About Your Transit Connect
Fifty150 replied to OLDSCHOOLFOOL's topic in Lounge Transit Connect
I've driven Chevy Express & Ford Econoline vans. Transit Connect's parking is superior. But it's smaller, and holds less stuff. I think of it like comparing an F-150, to a Ranger. But not the new Ranger, which is larger than the old Ranger. -
That's just a sticker. Nobody pays sticker pricing. That only serves to set a higher asking price, because the buyer will ask for a lower purchase price. Then they find a way to work in rebates, and still turn a profit. In some cases, the rebate is their profit. That's where you balk at the price, tell the dealer, "For that kind of money, I could drive a Mercedes Metris. I wouldn't give you more than $$$XXX out the door!" Well, except for maybe, that 1 guy who does pay sticker.

Mine is also an XL, and it came with the auxiliary junction box.

Good job! Caught the error before the van got on the road.

Refueling is the biggest problem with electric vehicles. In order to use the vehicles on a commercial basis, not 1 company is able to start a shift, operate for 2 - 3 hours, then wait 6 - 8 hours for a recharge. Most commercial vehicles need to be able to operate for 8 - 12 hours. In order for a private owner to take a road trip of any significance, the driver would spend more time charging than driving. Not to mention that you have to plan your trip from charging station to charging station. I live in The City. Common scenario is for someone to park at a charging station, plug in, then walk away. Next electric vehicle owner comes along, parks next to that car, unplugs the first car in order to plug in his own car. First car owner returns in a few hours, and his car did not get charged because someone else unplugged his car. Now he can't leave and go to his next destination or return home. Apparently, we've already reached the saturation point of vehicles versus available chargers in large metropolitan areas.

Here is a video. Different car. Same transmission. Same process.

Just wondering how well the van handles if you are weighed down all the time, and how the suspension holds up. What are your impressions of the Transit Connect, in comparison to working out of full size trucks & vans? My van has only been used for passengers, not enough weight to make any difference at all. With 7 passengers, the acceleration, braking, and maneuverability was still the same; which is suppose to be how it is designed. From past experience, with trucks & vans, weight and cargo placement really changes the ride.

Mounting a amber light ontop of the roof.

In The City at the Corporate Yard, the tech who does bolt on installations tells me that he uses silicone with a washer. Police cars. Fire trucks. Buses. Everything gets a ring of silicone, with a washer on top. Most rooftop mounted accessories have something in the kit which addresses your concern. -

A ring of silicone, rubber washer, or foam rubber will seal nicely. -

It sounds like they don't want you to have a fire at all. Might as well tell you that although camp fires are not prohibited, you are not allowed to pollute the air with smoke, and will be cited for the smoke. -
Mr. Jackson, you are correct. In modern vehicles, you should use the manufacturer specified fluid type. Not a multi-vehicle coolant or antifreeze.

You will just expose subframing, wiring, and bare metal bodywork. On the passenger side, there is an auxiliary junction box. If you have a passenger wagon, the seat beats retract behind the interior panels. Cargo van models have most, if not all of the interior panels stripped down. Up to you if you really want to leave the electronics and wiring exposed.

It all depends on what kind of light bar you're talking about, and what that particular unit's mounting hardware looks like. If you don't drill holes, then how are you going to run the wiring? You can consider using a light bar with magnets, which is offered by ECCO and other sellers. ECCO BLAZE II VACUUM-MAG 15\" AMBER ROTATING MINI LIGHTBAR - 5135A-VM For permanent installation, you will need to drill holes. If you intend to use the predrilled holes under the plastic caps, then you will need to spec a light bar with mounting brackets which measure the exact same distance. Drill the holes. It's your best option. Silicone, rubber washers, foam rubber seal kits......the light bar itself should include some sort of rubberized mounting base for waterproofing and vibrations since it is designed to be roof mounted. Wiring is not all that hard either. A lot of options there also. -

I like to think that is the reason why we participate in the forum. To encourage innovation. Or maybe just to rub each other the wrong way, and give someone else a hard time.
