  1. This sounds like a cool rig. Remember the Diesel to gas penalty is 25%. The enjoyment of having 178 Hp will cause a big smile. If the size of the smile is big enough, then the cost will be worth it. Hopefully the inside of the 1.6 is up to the extra Hp. The Transit custom comes as a wagon which would offset the business look to a large degree. Have you Driven this rig yet
  2. You can buy the assembly but it is very expensive the Machine Shop is a better alternative
  3. sounds like a left wheel bearing. When you turn to the left the load is on the right wheel, so the left would quiet down. Jack up the Front end on stands and start it put it in gear and then listen to each wheel you will hear the bad bearing. Let us know what you find.
  4. Nice . If you have not done the Trans fluid you should consider it .
  5. Good another way is to pull the kick panel and you can get to it with out dropping the glove box
  6. What speed does this happen? if you get to the same speed and put the cruise control on and go up the same incline, what is the shift quality.
  7. Sounds promising , They need to put the 2.0 in the TC to match the petrol engine Performance with a 25% fuel mileage increase. The engine looks to be good and if they have the sound and vibration in good control that will boost the appeal. They must be pushing the turbocharger very hard if they are using an Inconel rotor. I wonder what the price bump for this engine will be.
  8. Waiting for pictures , I lowered my rig with 500 Lbs of tools in the back. What will is the size of the tire you will be using on the 19 inch rims?
  9. Here is a picture, They make several heights and all different sizes depending on the size of the bed
  10. Yes it is in the right place and the component diagram has only one thing in the harness there behind the slider. If it is the right side of the car there is another module above the impact sensor and that is the fuel pump control module I am not sure what impact moving it would have Cheers
  11. If I was going to get an enclosure for the open trailer , I would use an aluminum pick up cap style because it is much lighter than the fiberglass. It would be much easier to take on and off.
  12. There are Impact sensors on both sides of the Sliders one in the B pillar and the other about 3to4 inches behind the slider door. I don't think that you would want to move them. There is also a latch that will not let you open the right slider if you have the fuel door open.
  13. Nice , Galvanized trailers are great from the Maintenance point of view . I have one enclosed 4X6 and an Open 5X8 that I tow behind the TC. Very Handy .
  14. Thats a great looking rig. Check out The Scamper trailer line http://www.scamptrailers.com/showroom/19-standard-trailers.html#!image_04
  15. The Euro hitch mount is different than the Us Receiver the. The us receiver is a 2" Id box tube and the ball mount is a 2" Od. box tube. The fit of these components is not a precision fit . The Eu mount is a manufactured part and the fit is much more precise. The noise fix for the US hitch is a rattle stopper like the one pictured below. the other fix is to live on a dirt road and everything will make so much noise that the little slop in the hitch mount will be lost in all the other things happening
  16. A light weight travel trailer would be ok the if it is 2000 lbs or less would not be a problem. Most light weight travel trailers and pop ups have a single axle, this adds to the sway problem The only thing I would add is a sway controller. These are simple devices that help keep the sway both cross wind and suspension induced under control. The gen 2 has much better brakes then the gen1 a definite plus.
  17. Just think of the trip you would have if you picked it up in Ca and drove all the way across the country and then shipped it back you could even through in a European tour.
  18. if its a diesel it could be the fuel shutoff solenoid when you switch on the key without starting do you hear a click near the injection pump ? if it is gas then when the key is switched on do you hear the fuel pump cycle before you try and start it
  19. Very Cool , The Cab Over design is has lots great points .
  20. Great looking choice . I think you will be happy with your choice . The Dark interior is a must for me. Light seats do not do well for me. The Swing doors are the first reason I looked at the TC vs a mini van, Good choice . Looking forward to the real pictures and the first driving impressions. The count down begins.
  21. That is a really great question. What the rack will take and what Ford wants up on the roof are not the same. The rack has only to hold the stuff on the roof. Ford has to take into account what a 600 Lb load will do to the safe operation of the vehicle two very different things.
  22. Excellent information nice pictures, waiting for the finish.
  23. The XLT wagon model has the full headliner and a second seat and no rear quarter windows. The XLT Premium is the Gen 1 wagon with the rear quarter windows, second seat and full headliner. Just for your information there is a very good looking XLT wagon at Litchfield Ford Litchfield Conn. Not cheap but looks good and seems to have what you want check auto-trader. Have a good week end.
