  1. I got something like that. Works great. Problems solved, for under $20.
  2. Who knows. That could be anything, or nothing. I don't think commercial van buyers will go for a station wagon with a hatchback door and low roofline. You won't be able to load pallets with a forklift.
  3. It has worked well for me in rain, on paved roads. But I only drive on city streets.
  4. As I searched for wheels, the OEM steel wheels are expensive. New or used. Even salvage yards selling on eBay want a lot of money to offset the cost of "free" shipping. There are aftermarket steel wheels, which when I checked carefully, the dimensions are not exact to the factory wheel. I found 1 style of aftermarket wheel with exact same dimensions. Not a big deal if you replace all 5 wheels with new wheels. You may not want to drive around with mismatched wheels and tires. But since you are buying used tires, you probably will not be buying new wheels. And you probably aren't interested in spending more on wheels than the tires cost.
  5. You should have a warranty
  6. The over head shelf hides it so well that you can't read the display. You could replace the OEM radio with a single DIN unit, and mount your 2way radio under it. I would just mount it in the middle of the dash on top of that piece which pulls off on top.
  7. It sounds like the transmission downshifted, as if you were passing another vehicle. Then it stays in a lower gear, instead of shifting back to overdrive.
  8. You might get a line of people at your shop. What's the address?
  9. Your plan A should be to buy the correct floor mats.
  10. I have a set of Frogg Toggs which I could wear over my leather. Military makes pretty good fleece base layers for cold weather, which you can buy at surplus stores. Eddie Bauer has a down filled, pullover, hoodie which I wear with a wool Pendleton, under the leather. A few times, I have worn a military N-3B snorkel parka over the leather. I like insulated and flannel lined pants. A lot of good options in store and online. Leather chaps are extremely effective.
  11. I think you're referring to the dash kit for installing an aftermarket radio. Sure, I guess you could put in a box instead of a radio. But as yet, nobody manufactures or sells a radio delete kit.
  12. I still listen to AM stations for traffic reports every 5 minutes. Not that I enjoy it. But it is what I am used to doing. I know. Waze app could route me faster and more efficiently. I gould use Google maps. And any GPS with a traffic receiver would probably work better.
  13. Mine has been like that since new. I never thought of trying to fix it. I didn't even know that there was an air bag. I think that little pump handle is attached to some sort of piston driven device. If there is a bag of air, it probably loses air like any other bladder.
  14. It could happen. Just like with the Ranger. Anybody who wants a passenger vehicle could buy a crossover SUV from Ford, a full size Transit van from Ford, or buy a small van from another company since Ford is not interested in selling them. In Europe, vans are popular. Transit Connect wagons will continue to sell there even if the US market is abandoned. Another European model will probably try to fill the void. In Asia, small passenger vans are very popular, but those models haven't reached the USA market. If Ford stops production of the Transit Connect wagon, then we may see an Asian market van.
  15. They already sell EcoSport, Edge, Escape, and Flex. AWD Transit Connect demand could be diverted to one of those other models. Same way Ford felt that anybody who wants a small pickup should just buy a bigger truck which they don't want.
  16. The easy part would be to swap the unit. In older cars, it was fairly easy to buy a new control module and install it. Unplug, unbolt, bot, and plug back in. But if you have to load firmware and/or software, or program, that is not so easy. I haven't tried it myself. But I suspect it's not as easy as saving your vehicle profile with FORScan, then reloading it. This does not sound like such an easy DIY job. But there are independent shops who can do it. The only reason that most shops can't is because they have not invested into the computer hardware, software, and training. Just about anything a dealership tech can do, a small shop should be able to do. Or you can order the IDS system yourself, and try to do it at home.
  17. I guess you will have to fabricate that yourself. I haven't seen a radio delete kit with a dashboard cubby hole.
  18. What will you do about the big hole in the dashboard? Will the Bluetooth still work without the head unit plugged in?
  19. Does the Mercedes small van have AWD? Only if marketing surveys point in that direction. There has to be a demand. Maybe an AWD Transit Connect could rally race against Subaru. But of course, they can be wrong in the boardroom. Ford marketing felt that the Ranger was not worth building, and that everybody should just buy an F-150. Are they still on track to give up selling cars in North America? Who am I to say? I have never bought a small Ford. In my mind, I remember the Pinto, Fiesta, and Mustang II. In today's market, I would buy a Honda if I needed a small car. Same way I would not buy a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck. But I am also the same guy who would buy a Toyota Tacoma instead of the new Ranger.
  20. Notice how many are in commercial use, and there's nobody on this forum who owns 10 or more vans.
  21. For me, it's far enough. I am lazy. I have an Interstate distributor nearby. Or I will order online. I'm not taking a Sam's Club road trip. Millennial Entitlement. Bring it to me, with Prime shipping.
