  1. Have you run a scan on the AC system? That could tell you a lot.
  2. The way that swap would work is if the Base engines are similar then you would have to use all the fuel exhaust and electronic components from the 2 .0, if all that stuff bolted on to the 2.5 the computer would not need to be up dated. The possible down side would be the extra torque going into The Transmission.
  3. The real reason it is hard to fine a shop with an Brake shoe arc grinder is the dust problem . There should be no asbestos in the linings, but you can't be sure. You can speed up the process by adjusting the brakes a bit tighter. If you reverse the car smartly and stop it you will adjust the brakes . The brakes will feel, warm to the touch when they are adjusted properly . 70 or 80 degrees c.
  4. Good info, but 185 will definitely shorten the life of the fluid.
  5. An auxiliary cooler will help at the extreme . I will have to find out what the temp setting is for the cooler is. The temp of the fluid for the Tc is 20 degrees higher than the L 480-E in my other van, and the drain color after 25000 miles shows it. Cooler is better over time.
  6. It sounds like a good plan, I would have enjoyed real pictures of the rig with the doors.
  7. Did you check to see how the new shoes fit in the drum, is the shoe contact complete ? What does the contact pattern of the new shoes look like?
  8. The fact that the cooler operation is controlled means that the fluid will operate at about the same temp most of the time. I pull this trailer a lot it weighs 1400-1600 LBS most of the time I tow it. When I have the transmission temp on the scanner it does not raise the fluid temp much so I think the cooler in the Radiator is adequate for most of the trailer towing.
  9. Here is a photo of the filter housing . It is accessed from the passenger foot well and is not to hard a job , Rock aut and many others have the filter.
  10. The drive train was re engineered to standard RWD with Leaf Springs . The Vans over there with the front drive have the option of AWD.

    Oil

The only issue with the shield is taking it off when it is wet. It gets very soggy.
  12. Again we here in the states will not get a chance at that Ford van, too bad , The full size Transit we get is a much lower tech version compared to the Euro version.
  13. Thanks for the warning about the Transit custom!
  14. I have not added an extra cooler . I Have don the transmission fluid change 3 times in 80000 miles. Here is a link to the post I did . The first thing you should always do with any automatic transmission issue is check the fluid level. The first caution is when you pull the bolt to check the level make sure the engine is running , if it is not the fluid will roar out of the plug hold. 15. Its like having your Dad in the back seat on a date!
  16. I hope that this is a good option for your business. I am sure you will keep us posted on the good and not so good. As for the rear door Mine is a passenger configuration so the larger rear slider is more value for me. In any event there will not be a Citroën Berlingo available in the US any time soon , leaving no real choice in the work/ small passenger van market here.
  17. I have a set that are very similar, but I have had them longer than harbour freight has been around!
  18. Does that mean the LPG Tc going away? Do you think the smaller side door will be a minus or not really important.
  19. That is the way i did mine 3 times at 25000 intervals. I did a post on the procedure with pictures , look it up.
  20. Looks good . If you see one get a picture of one with swing doors, that would be cool. I am pretty sure that we will not get to test one any time soon, unfortunately
  21. All i can say is when you live on a dirt road brake dust is not first on the list.
  22. The stop and go driving and hill climbs unlock the converter. Most of the heat is generated by the converter. The hotter the fluid runs the shorter the life. Looks like your fluid has the same look as mine when i changed it. I think the 25000 mile interval is about all you want this fluid to go. On my other van and pickup the temp stays around 160 unless I am towing. The fluid stays clear much longer.
  23. Before you put the jumpers from the truck did you check the battery voltage? If the voltage goes below a certain level the electrical cut off goes into play. It might take the voltage rise of the truck running to reset the protection.
  24. Have you tried a higher performance pad when you replaced them? My Tc is loaded with tools and I often pull a 1600 Lbs trailer. mine get replaced because the road salt makes the disc's rust.
