  1. They're idiots. It's a standard light sensor to tell the ECU the sun position to guide the A/C and headlights/dash lights. All cars have it.
  2. The black bump in front of the dash is not a GPS antenna.
  3. The original model's seats before the last facelift (-2010) were the best of the bunch. The ones with random stripe graphics that were introduced with the latest facelift were a bit flimsier. New model's seats are superior.Comfortability on long trips is very personal and depends a lot on the person.
  4. The low load limits are only derived from safe center of gravity. This is to prevent the car from tipping over when overloaded and top-heavy. You can safely install a pop-up tent on sleep on the roof rack together with your companion.
  5. I once helped a guy compare the transmission configuration in my Toyota. His CVT belt blew due to lack of maintenance. He bought the car used and it had 280 000 km (175K mi) on the odo. He managed to source the original manufacturer of the transmission parts in China and got it running for a couple of hundred (did his own labor), including resurfacing the pulleys which got damaged by the belt chips. So it can be done and more so in the future when the novelty factor is gone.

  7. CVT is the best for small engines, IMHO. They're getting more and more common as well as the technology has matured.
  8. My friend installed LED bulbs in place of factory HID. Much brighter but also too bright in front of the car. Almost unbearable. He loves it tho.
  9. Osram Nightbreakers are the only quick and cheap option. Next would be retrofitting LED projectors.
  10. You should only mess with rear speakers and subwoofers when your standard setup already sounds so good that it doesn't really need anything else done to it. So, insulate the doors, change the speakers, all tweeters, add an amp first.

  12. I have used a set. Nothin special, just like any other brand name.
  13. I have just watched the video, there was no metal cover there, mine had one. Regardless, doesn't change the procedure.
  14. Changing is easy. Remove the passenger side piece under the wipers, then a tin cover from under it and there it is. Easy with yanking stuff, the plastic may have become brittle over time. There's possibly a plastic grid tray there which you need to remove to install a generic filter. My original filter was in the plastic grid but the aftermarket one fit in the bottom tray, had to leave the grid thingy out.
  15. I've been changing my pollen filters all these years for no reason!
  16. Which air filter do you mean, pollen filter for the vent? There should be one. Also, speakers are easy to replace with better ones. What's weird is that the older model had excellent headlights.
  17. The battery location is quite inelegant.

  19. A sliding load floor option. Better headlights.
  20. The load rating is sometimes given as XL instead of numbers (Extra load), these will also work.
  21. I'm sure it drives fine. I have an Avensis Wagon '09 which is an excellent highway car. I drove 1400 miles non-stop to Germany last year and didn't even feel tired. I would love to get the CH-R but it's not really a family vehicle.
  22. The smallest one would be the first generation low-roof SWB, which was never imported to USA:
