  1. The heated windshield will defrost much faster than a standard windshield. It draws about 40 amps. Check your fuses.
  2. I don't know anything about DAB radio but I saw this on the Forscan forum. https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=20378&p=73875&hilit=Radio+dab#p73875
  3. https://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/8531-roof-rails-2014-2020-lwb/?tab=comments#comment-33816
  4. I don't know anything about the Rostra units (except recognizing the brand). If you become Forscan literate you can buy a used steering wheel with cruise control and activate it. There is a good forum post about this.
  5. I suspect there is a problem with the LIN network that reads the steering wheel controls (SWC) buttons. Maybe the installer connected something that is affecting the LIN. But I have not researched the details of each button on the steering wheel.
  6. The problem may be in the driver door latch. See the attached wiring diagram. You can remove the door panel and measure the voltage at the door module to see if the signal changes. You can also crawl under the glove box and measure the signal at the BCM. Forscan will show if the BCM is seeing the door latch status change. Here is more information on how to remove the door panel: door module.pdf
  7. I doubt it. Adaptive cruise control was not an option in 2016.
  8. Forscan is a free program that runs on a Windows PC. It communicates to the vehicle using an ELM-327 adapter. Forscan is discussed in details on this and many other Ford forums. What's new (forscan.org) The basic function of Forscan is to read trouble codes (DTC) and detailed operating parameters (PID). Forscan is a good scan tool and it works very well. Advanced functions allow programming or configuration changes like adding cruise control and require an "extended license". Advanced functions require some patience and some important research into how things work. You can brick your vehicle if you are not careful. Buy an adapter recommended by Forscan, especially if you ever plan on making configuration changes. If you plan on doing most of your TC's maintenance and troubleshooting you must have a scan tool. ELM327-compatible adapters - how to choose - FORScan forum Before you do anything, try opening the driver's door with the engine running. You should get a message about the door being open. If not, then the latch is not sending the door open signal to the BCM and you probably need a new latch. Forscan will allow you to see the status of the door switch and hundreds of other analog signals and switch states (on/off) in the TC. edit: If you buy a bluetooth adapter you can use a smartphone and the Forscan Lite app to read data easily as you drive. The app can't make programming changes.
  9. Unfortunately the door light switch is part of the latch mechanism. It's difficult to troubleshoot. You would need a scan tool of Forscan to check the switch status when you open the door and proceed from there. Wiring diagrams are also needed.
  10. The post is here somewhere. Maybe this is what you are looking for. https://www.ebay.com/itm/272925731944 I installed bright yellow LEDs in my clear lamp housings and they look much better/brighter than the incandescent yellow bulbs.
  11. You may be able to configure dark mode using Forscan. The only way to know is to try it on your vehicle. The BCM should have the appropriate firmware and Forscan recognizes dark mode on other vehicles according to the forums.
  12. No, each light is not individually fused. Look at the wiring and socket. Test using a voltmeter or test light. The wires are small gauge and may be damaged.
  13. It appears that the latest version of Forscan has problems connecting to all modules. If you have an older model TC (14-18ish) try an older version of Forscan Make sure you are using a good adapter. OBD Link never is the source of connection problems. Delete the vehicle profile and have Forscan create a new one.
  14. Very few on this forum will have any experience with Transit vans, only Transit Connects. That is an aftermarket camera. You will have to find information on that specific camera to see if it's adjustable.
  15. Exhaust pipe clamp like this? Rockauto is a great source for OEM and aftermarket parts.
  16. Yes, I see on the Forscan forums many have upgraded their Sync systems. But I have never seen posts about going from nothing to Sync1. Even Sync1 to 2 seems impossible. There is a third party company that has streamlined the hardware and programming changes for the 2 to 3 upgrade (Cyan Labs) if anyone is interested.
  17. I have SYNC so I'm no help with the aftermarket products. Search this forum. There are numerous posts about aftermarket cameras and head units.
  18. Adding SYNC1 is not simple. You will need to add a module along with the display. The configuration in the vehicle will have to be programmed with Forscan. I doubt anyone has done this because it's expensive and there are no instructions. It's easier to install an aftermarket head unit with all the desired functions. The small display is used by the factory backup camera. Here is the network connection overview. camera.pdf
  19. F80 is a spare 20A fuse. There is a 20A fuse installed. Other unused slots don't have fuses. I don't know the reason why. Adding a 5A fused circuit onto the 20A fuse will be OK. You can also remove the 20A fuse and replace it with a 5A.
  20. Disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes is the standard method to reset all modules. I don't know of any better way to reset the electronics. Have you tried to drive the vehicle? Maybe the error will clear as all the sensors populate the modules with data.
  21. You are correct about the 2.5L TCs, they do not have a smart charging system. I have the 1.6L EcoBoost (2016) and it has a smart charging system. Here are the alternator specs: gen specs.pdf
  22. Look for the Forum post about adding cruise control. It will explain what to expect when upgrading the steering wheel. Make sure you buy a steering wheel from a Transit Connect, not a Transit. The steering wheel buttons and signals going to the radio head unit can probably be used by an aftermarket head unit. You will need the wiring diagram to find the proper wires. Adding SYNC 2 is very complicated and expensive. I don't think you can add the IPC and steering wheel without making some changes with Forscan, but maybe you can (especially if you don't want to activate cruise control). Do some research and take your time. Not of lot of people have done these upgrades.
  23. I don't know if a high output alternator will work without changing the configuration in the ECU. The alternator output is controlled by the ECU (pulse width modulated signal) and there may be an issue if the control signal sent by the ECU does not produce the expected result. You should ask the alternator vendor about this. There may be an option in Forscan for different alternator types but I never looked for it so I'm only guessing.
