Recovery/tow hook. My 2016 did not come with one but there is a storage space for it. There are forum posts about this.

I don't have any experience with an engine swap. Are you using a real scan tool or just an OBII reader? A scan tool will show any errors in communication or configuration with the ECM (actually the PCM in a Ford). Check out Forscan. You may need to do a relearn on the PCM. Forscan can do this. Google engine swaps on various Fords to see what's needed.

Seattle Chris, What model/year is your van? I searched ebay, LKQ and other sites for photographs of the color display IPC. It looks like the 2015 Transit 250 has part number CK4T-10849 - BB to BK. The B suffix appears to identify the color display. I found one on LKQ. 2015 Ford Transit 250 Speedometer Head / Cluster - ~265909552 | LKQOnline My buddy never proceeded with the upgrade but I remember doing some research and it looked straight forward. I'll send you a PM with my contact info so we don't clog this thread with too much detail. I also use Autotrader to find good photos of optional equipment and the VIN so we can get the configuration files to compare the standard vs upgraded IPC configuration files.

A Transit Connect IPC will not work in a Transit. The two vehicles use different architecture in their networks. I was able to use a Focus IPC in a TC because they are built on the same platform...mechanical and electrical. Your best bet is to find the premium versions of the Transit and see what options are available compared to yours. Then you can begin a similar process of sourcing the parts and testing the programming. I looked into this for a friend several years ago and saw there is a premium IPC for the 2014 Transit. My brief research showed it should be easy to upgrade with this IPC. You may have to compare the configuration files of the two IPCs to see what is different and may need to be changed. This is relatively easy, but my guess is it will be plug and play.

If you are willing to do some reading and research, Forscan is a better a solution. Forscan can perform almost everything the OEM Ford software IDS does. Forscan is free and the required adapter is under $100. You need a laptop PC with Windows. I doubt any other scan tool can perform vehicle configuration changes like adding cruise control, DRL delete etc .

The heated windshield will defrost much faster than a standard windshield. It draws about 40 amps. Check your fuses.

I don't know anything about DAB radio but I saw this on the Forscan forum. https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=20378&p=73875&hilit=Radio+dab#p73875

I don't know anything about the Rostra units (except recognizing the brand). If you become Forscan literate you can buy a used steering wheel with cruise control and activate it. There is a good forum post about this.
-
I suspect there is a problem with the LIN network that reads the steering wheel controls (SWC) buttons. Maybe the installer connected something that is affecting the LIN. But I have not researched the details of each button on the steering wheel.

Dome light won’t come on!?
Don Ridley replied to Mozer67's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
The problem may be in the driver door latch. See the attached wiring diagram. You can remove the door panel and measure the voltage at the door module to see if the signal changes. You can also crawl under the glove box and measure the signal at the BCM. Forscan will show if the BCM is seeing the door latch status change. Here is more information on how to remove the door panel: door module.pdf -
I doubt it. Adaptive cruise control was not an option in 2016.

Dome light won’t come on!?
Don Ridley replied to Mozer67's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
Forscan is a free program that runs on a Windows PC. It communicates to the vehicle using an ELM-327 adapter. Forscan is discussed in details on this and many other Ford forums. What's new (forscan.org) The basic function of Forscan is to read trouble codes (DTC) and detailed operating parameters (PID). Forscan is a good scan tool and it works very well. Advanced functions allow programming or configuration changes like adding cruise control and require an "extended license". Advanced functions require some patience and some important research into how things work. You can brick your vehicle if you are not careful. Buy an adapter recommended by Forscan, especially if you ever plan on making configuration changes. If you plan on doing most of your TC's maintenance and troubleshooting you must have a scan tool. ELM327-compatible adapters - how to choose - FORScan forum Before you do anything, try opening the driver's door with the engine running. You should get a message about the door being open. If not, then the latch is not sending the door open signal to the BCM and you probably need a new latch. Forscan will allow you to see the status of the door switch and hundreds of other analog signals and switch states (on/off) in the TC. edit: If you buy a bluetooth adapter you can use a smartphone and the Forscan Lite app to read data easily as you drive. The app can't make programming changes. -
Dome light won’t come on!?

Unfortunately the door light switch is part of the latch mechanism. It's difficult to troubleshoot. You would need a scan tool of Forscan to check the switch status when you open the door and proceed from there. Wiring diagrams are also needed. -
The post is here somewhere. Maybe this is what you are looking for. https://www.ebay.com/itm/272925731944 I installed bright yellow LEDs in my clear lamp housings and they look much better/brighter than the incandescent yellow bulbs.

2019 TC Crash Safety: Practical Application
Don Ridley replied to STAGEO's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
You may be able to configure dark mode using Forscan. The only way to know is to try it on your vehicle. The BCM should have the appropriate firmware and Forscan recognizes dark mode on other vehicles according to the forums. -
Rear Tail Light not working
Don Ridley replied to michigan906's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
No, each light is not individually fused. Look at the wiring and socket. Test using a voltmeter or test light. The wires are small gauge and may be damaged. -
It appears that the latest version of Forscan has problems connecting to all modules. If you have an older model TC (14-18ish) try an older version of Forscan Make sure you are using a good adapter. OBD Link never is the source of connection problems. Delete the vehicle profile and have Forscan create a new one.

2015 Transit 250 Backup Camera Not Centered
Don Ridley replied to Marky-Marc's topic in Backup Sensor
Very few on this forum will have any experience with Transit vans, only Transit Connects. That is an aftermarket camera. You will have to find information on that specific camera to see if it's adjustable. -
Exhaust pipe clamp like this? Rockauto is a great source for OEM and aftermarket parts.

Yes, I see on the Forscan forums many have upgraded their Sync systems. But I have never seen posts about going from nothing to Sync1. Even Sync1 to 2 seems impossible. There is a third party company that has streamlined the hardware and programming changes for the 2 to 3 upgrade (Cyan Labs) if anyone is interested.
-
I have SYNC so I'm no help with the aftermarket products. Search this forum. There are numerous posts about aftermarket cameras and head units.
-
Adding SYNC1 is not simple. You will need to add a module along with the display. The configuration in the vehicle will have to be programmed with Forscan. I doubt anyone has done this because it's expensive and there are no instructions. It's easier to install an aftermarket head unit with all the desired functions. The small display is used by the factory backup camera. Here is the network connection overview. camera.pdf

F80 is a spare 20A fuse. There is a 20A fuse installed. Other unused slots don't have fuses. I don't know the reason why. Adding a 5A fused circuit onto the 20A fuse will be OK. You can also remove the 20A fuse and replace it with a 5A.
