  1. The insurance company will have to replace the Heated screen with one of equal capability. The heated after market wind screen would not not be that much cheaper than the OEM one. The sand that is used on the roads around here has lots of gravel in it. The result of which is that Wind screens are only good till the next rock.
  2. What a great trip you have had. The Van has earned its spurs. It is good your near U-tube experience happened after you had completed the TC winter driving training. In my Cross country travels the wind screen seems to be an often replaced Item. Every thing that one designs and builds gets modified after the Idea meets the real world. Great post Looking forward to more adventures.
  3. Have you tried this sequence from the 2010 manual if yes then Oh well, if not then its worth a try. Good Luck Auxiliary input jack (Line in) WARNING: Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control, accident and injury. Ford strongly recommends that drivers use extreme caution when using any device that may take their focus off the road. The driver’s primary responsibility is the safe operation of their vehicle. Only use cell phones and other devices not essential to the driving task when it is safe to do so. The auxiliary input jack allows you to connect your portable music player and play music through the vehicle speakers with high fidelity. Required equipment: 1. Any portable music player designed to be used with headphones 2. An audio extension cable with stereo male 1/8 in. (3.5 mm) connectors at each end. To play your portable music player using the auxiliary input jack: 1. Begin with the vehicle parked and the radio turned off. 2. Ensure that the battery in your portable music player is new or fully charged and that the device is turned off. 3. Attach one end of the audio extension cable to the headphone output of your player and the other end of the audio extension cable to the auxiliary input jack. 4. Turn the radio on, using either a tuned FM station or a CD loaded into the system. Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level. 5. Turn the portable music player on and adjust the volume to 1/2 the volume. 6. Press AUX on the vehicle radio repeatedly until AUX appears in the display. You should hear audio from your portable music player although it may be low. 7. Adjust the sound on your portable music player until it reaches the level of the FM station or CD by switching back and forth between the AUX and FM or CD controls. Entertainment Systems 24 2010
  4. Can't be too much wrong with the radio, Most likely a connection. Good luck keep us posted.
  5. Does AM-FM Radio function Normally .
  6. Sounds like you have a good plan Just make sure they Check the Transmission fluid every time they have the Air dam off.
  7. There are several sets of ramps at amazon that are long enough to allow the TC to get up on them for Maintenance. Here is a Link to a set that would work if you are interested https://www.amazon.com/Race-Ramps/b/ref=bl_dp_s_web_2599295011?ie=UTF8&node=2599295011&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Race+Ramps I am in full agreement about the Rear camera in drive , it would be excelent
  8. Or a Machine gun behind the turn signal light. The passenger ejection seat would be nice.
  9. mrtn is there any difference in the shift quality from gasoline to Propane? The shift quality on the down shift from 6th to 5th at 50 mph (83Km) is the one that is not smooth.
  10. Hey At one point you should invest in a set of chains. I got a great set from E-trailer . They go on in a flash and will provide the added confidence an intrepid traveler needs to maintain their road edge. Safe trip and let every one else do that stuff that ends up on U-tube!!
  11. You must be ready to head out soon. When is your start date for the run. Hope we will get up dates from the road.
  12. You might want to put one in the bay under the bed near to the bottom . CO is heaver than air and this would warn you sooner.
  13. You have a point, It is a retail operation. The price of the option at the factory is $50.00 for the heater and 2 minutes to install on the engine on the engine line. Once in the car the access is hard and the engine has to be drained of coolant.
  14. Very Nice . If the Exhaust on your 1.6 is like the one on My 2.5 is pointing down on the left side at the rear bumper. If that is the case , Be careful how you park if it is snowing and blowing the snow could build up there and the CO could sneak in at the base of the back door.
  15. Here is what I found in the rear heat issue The other thing I found is that both floor ducts that come out under the seat are not installed correctly and should be checked. The last thing I found on my XLT was a missing jumper duct on the passenger side. The end result was good heat for the second row and fair heat in the third row. The upper vents in the third row are shut off when the rear heat is on high. The Rear control must be on high to maximize the heat. The last thing is to keep the Air filter to the rear heater clean. Hope this helps
  16. You could be right. I think the dealer is the one to order the heater here for cars they buy for stock vehicles . My TC was ordered for a Newport Vermont dealer 8 miles from the Canadian border and it did not have a heater installed. If I had done a special order I would have put one in. Thanks for the great post.
  17. Another Idea is to find the drivers harness and sensor and install them on the right side. The Job might be easier if the Left seat can be swapped for the right seat and the drivers side harness re located to the right side. Then the lights would be off. The passenger seat does not require a person for normal operation. Keep us posted.
  18. Just checked fordparts they get $145 for the heater. It must take over two hours tol put it in. That would explain the cost. It will be worth it hope they do a good job.
  19. go to FordParts.com and check the parts list for your tc and then check the Door diagram for a van with no rear glass if the doors are the same you should find the panel. If not then one can be fabricated
  20. Cool! Let us know the cost if you can.
  21. Sounds like getting the Wagon from the Factory is a much better deal!! As for the Low Beams use the Adjustment under the hood and it will make them much better.
  22. The standard coolant mix is good to -34F Even if it is colder nothing will break. If you have Synthetic Oil The cold should not be a problem. With the electric cooling fan the engine will maintain temp. When it is very cold the real challenge is to warm up the rest of the drive train and suspension components after a long -40F night.
  23. The heaters that ford installs are a electric element that are made like a block core plug and are installed in the block. It is located at the front of the block . It will take a couple of hours and a coolant drain to put it in. chong check out page 168 of the 2016 Owners manual. COLD WEATHER PRECAUTIONS The functional operation of some components and systems can be affected at temperatures below -13°F (-25°C). My TC has seen -26 and I am still not sure what the cryptic message means if you find out please let us know! Very cool on the Auto Start!
