Now I can see
mrtn replied to JackGrimshaw's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
I pretty much always back up to the parking spot. There's a very good reason for it - I have a good overview of the surroundings when arriving, not so much when backing out of the parking spot. Nothing actually. -
1.6 Ecoboost van, 90% ready to pull the trigger

After a flat battery again yesterday I bought a new 72Ah one today. Took me an hour and a half to replace it. It's really tight and inconvenient. The old battery was 1830 days old. We'll see if it'll be any better with the new one or do I need to replace something else. -

I don't need a camera for parking but it's sure nice for mounting a trailer, especially a loaded one you can't maneuver by hand. -

My battery has gone flat several times. Today the latest. Could not get the car running after it has sat outside for an hour after a two hour drive. I had forgotten my laptop charger in the 12V socket but it should not kill the battery in an hour. There’s definitely something wrong with it. Had a towing service give me a jump start. Should really get a battery pack of my own. Drove back home for two hours and the battery charge had only gotten up from 48% to 65%. Charging voltage seems fine (14.3V), battery voltage during charging is 14.1V but after that it’s 12.3V (at 65% charge), which is basically a dead battery.

Roof Loads Max - Static vs Dynamic
mrtn replied to Jermack's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
If you use all 8 mount points you can load a lot on it. I have seen full size work platforms with detachable ladders mounted on TC/PSA/FCA vans. The longitudinal roof arches (not the middle) are designed to withstand rolling over so the load is not an issue. -

I don't think a bbq set level connections are doable in an automotive application. I need to get mine serviced soon. I'm enjoying LPG a lot when it works. -

But it's still tied to similar amount (or more) of CO2 pollution. -

Very quiet. Really quiet. Also, directionally stable. -
What extra things should be inspected when buying used Ford CNG TC van?
mrtn replied to toddy's topic in Work Solutions
Maybe rent a leak sniffer as you can't spray foam everywhere. -
Mine's just like that under the vinyl wrap. It's really intense blue.

I have 81Mm (50K miles) on the odo. So 30K on the OEM Continentals. My tire guy said these Michelins have a ridiculous treadwear warranty and are very quiet, especially for snow rated ones. The injectors need cleaning. The DI engines don't have a LPG fuel filter so they tend to clog a bit causing a leak due to the injector not closing completely. The leak is big enough for propane to seep through but tight enough for gasoline to maintain pressure. You can't smell anything tho as the leak is isolated to fuel rail only and it happens in the first couple of seconds after turning the engine off. The fuel rail pressure drops from 55-60 bar (800-870 psi) to 12 bar (175 psi) in just a second and stays there. -

Mid-life update: LPG needs service again. There was some corrosion on a tank pump connector and power issues in the system. Turns out that the LPG tank and its control box is not actually meant to be outside of the body in the middle of mud and dirt. Also - injectors leaking again resulting in long cranking and occasional "fuel rail low pressure" when starting on LPG, need to have them cleaned. No issues on petrol. Summer tires are bald, hit the wear marks and hydroplaned a bit on Tuesday seeing the first serious rainfall while driving this year. Just ordered a new set of Michelin Cross Climates: -
