  1. It should not run hotter at all if the torque converter lock works.
  2. No pneumatic suspension in this price range. He picked the regular hatch with an opening glass. It can be ordered with barn doors as well. I'll keep you posted.
  3. My colleague is looking to get the new Citroën Berlingo (5-seater). We have had a Berlingo panel van years ago (two generations back) and it was a shitshow. Going to see if the new one is any better. It’s significantly cheaper than the TC, about the same size. Costs about €24K fully loaded, incl. 20% VAT. It looks a bit like Honda Element and Pontiac Aztek had a baby. https://www.citroen.co.uk/new-cars-and-vans/citroen-range/new-citroen-berlingo
  4. Sounds like a tensioner malfunction if the belt was good.
  5. Just noticed, there's no Grand Finale but I have seen immobilizer issues sorted out in other immo related problems.
  6. No point. I have not done it as mine was manual from the start but I have seen several reports in the internet. Here's one:
  7. Not me but yes. It’s a straightforward procedure.
  8. Our govt bought like 500 of these for our social workers. Everybody hates those, not suitable for cold climate.
  9. Haha, right. I was at the parking lot of a grocery store (15 minute drive away) when a Tommy Chong’s Leo looking dude approached me offering me money to take his new oven home. He obviously had tried fitting it in his Passat sedan to no avail. As he lived just up the street from me (never met him but I knew the house, very nice landscaping job) I was okay with taking his oven home for free. Or I wouldn’t have taken it at all, money or not.
  10. Probably a good idea if you also replace/balance and the pistons/connecting rods, make a manual conversion with a lightened flywheel and use a custom ECU to keep it running.
  11. Speakers and amps need to march eatch other as well. And at higher power levels the stock cables will be the bottlenecks. I recently made a rookie mistake buying a pair of good 2-way speakers rated at 80W of continuous power and paired them with a 2x55W amplifier. I left OEM cables in place. Turned out sounding worse than telephone. Really really bad. Then I noticed the writing on the magnets: "minimum imput power 40W". Which means that the low power amp + thin wires did not deliver the oomph needed for the drivers to move adequately. Reverted to original and it sounded great (full sound insulation done).
  12. Nope, the OEM speakers are pretty good. You won't gain much just by replacing the speakers. 2 way components with an amplifier would make a difference.

    New TC Owner

Dynamic fluid replacement with a modern device is not invasive by any stretch of the imagination. It hooks up to the coolant lines and gradually replaces all fluid while the transmission pumps the fluid around by itself with the engine running. Just had it done for my Toyota last year. Probably too late (past 100K miles) but it was better than not to.
  14. Some cars have permanent coolant smell outside the cabin from new with no leaks whatsoever.

    low power

Check for leaks. I had a leak in boost sensor hose and also a bad boost sensor. No power whatsoever.

  17. In the world of halogens they are. Complete crap compared to my Toyota or Honda with factory HID which light up the moon if needed but better than Gen2 with halogens.
  18. Heh, my dealer insisted on the transmission fluid to be for life.
  19. Gen1 headlights are much better than Gen2.
  20. Osram Nightbreakers work very, very good in the headlights. No need to mess with LEDs.
  21. In snow belt it’s advisable to perform underbelly wash every once in a while in the winter to get salt/mud out of places you don’t want it. The thicker the dirt layer the better it is for salt to do its thing. It should be available in every car wash.
  22. My leaf springs never made a squeak during the 10 years of ownership.
  23. The front suspension is quite fordish. Luckily the suspension parts are cheap. But the tie rods only have outer ends. If the inner ones go it's the steering rack.
