Keep in mind that the current 6F35 is the 2nd generation. So there are differences when you see different photos online. Kind of like online dating, where the photo is 10 years old. In the cars with the 8 speed transmission, Ford is going back to using auxiliary oil to air coolers. I suspect that the new coolers will mount nicely into the older cars.

Hot water, good soap, and triple rinse, should be good enough. Even biohazard won't be bad for draining into. I like those dispensers. I can put the spout right into the oil fill hole, and not need a funnel. Really good for buying bulk motor oil in 6 gallon boxes and 5 gallon buckets. Acknowledgement to Havoline for the 6 quart box. I wish more motor oil sellers offered 6 quart packaging. And if you're willing to buy more, like 5 gallon buckets and 6 gallon boxes, the price should go down, not up.

It's more work. But nothing really hard. It helps to know what should be removed, and in which order.

Hopefully, it will be an easy fix. Here's a generic version. What Does P0172 Mean? Combustion engines run most efficiently when they maintain an air-fuel mixture ratio of 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel. When the upstream oxygen sensor detects there are less than 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel in the air-fuel mixture, a rich condition exists. To keep the engine running properly, the powertrain control module (PCM) tries to compensate for the rich condition by injecting less fuel to the mixture in an effort to maintain the proper 14.7:1 air-fuel ratio. When these adjustments become too large, code P0172 is triggered. P0172 Symptoms Check Engine Light is on Lack of power from the engine Rough idle Engine hesitating Engine misfiring P0172 Causes Dirty or faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor Faulty oxygen sensor Leaky fuel injectors allowing too much fuel into the combustion cylinders Worn spark plugs Stuck fuel pressure regulator Faulty coolant temperature sensor Faulty coolant thermostat

Is hill assist a passive feature on every van? Or is it an upgraded option only on more expensive trim levels?
-
Interesting that your van is burning oil by 6,000 miles. Even more interesting that your IOLM activates @ 10,200 miles. No science in what I am doing. I change oil every Memorial Day and Turkey Day. Gives me fresh oil as the seasons change, I have a 3 day weekend in case there is anything else I want to do with the car, and there's usually a holiday sale price on supplies.

Door lock/unlock issues 2013 TC
Double Nickels replied to Rr896's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
The body control module sends the signal to unlock the doors. Since both doors will work, the problem is not in the doors. Either the BCM is not getting the signal from your key fob, not sending out the signal to the doors, or the BCM is sending a signal and the doors don't receive the signal. I would check for a wiring fault form the BCM. My guess is a bad wire connection or harness. There's also the possibility that your key fob is bad. Those little buttons could wear out. The contacts under the buttons could wear out. Try a new key fob. Or you may try a fresh battery. -
There's also this shade tree mechanic. No matter what anyone says, or what someone says online, you should have a qualified technician look at your car.

You may as well watch videos online, then do it yourself.

And a shade tree mechanic is working on the car.

Eliminating 4.2" screen on a 2015
Double Nickels replied to dirt huffer's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
They make dash kits which are cut out for the screen. Why would you want to eliminate it? All of the info on the screen and your back up camera would be lost. -
Eliminating 4.2" screen on a 2015
Double Nickels replied to dirt huffer's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
The screen should have a harness which will easily disconnect. Most likely, you will lose information displayed on the screen, and the reverse camera. Unless your new aftermarket unit has a connection for the OEM screen harness. -
FORD DPS6 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS
Double Nickels replied to windguy's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Another thing to look at is the reading for coolant temperature. Mine shows 210+ when stuck in traffic. Stop & go traffic also raises temperatures in the transmission. -
FORD DPS6 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS
Double Nickels replied to windguy's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I agree with your recommendation for fluid exchanges. No way to lower transmission cooler fluid to below the bypass valve setting unless you delete the bypass valve. But there's no reason to do that. The real concern, and the reason for additional cooling, is if you tow, climb hills, carry heavy loads, sit in traffic, drive for hours like on a road trip or it a work van which runs all day, and your transmission fluid temperature runs to 225 or 250. 208 is nothing to worry about. Watch your gauges. Does it drop? Is there cooling? What's the highest you have seen? -
Has anyone bought tires from Costco?

New 19 owner from Ireland... not impressed.

It's all greed. That's business. That's why e85 is on the market. It was never meant to be sold as an alternative to gasoline. It was only meant to subsidize corn farmers and meet CAFE requirements. -
I have a wagon. Tires have been fine for city driving. I have been lucky with tires and batteries. Only time things like that fail early is when I bought cheap batteries. For whatever reason, every tire I've owned has lasted beyond 40,000 mile warranty, including cheap tires. My point is that the service writers, for whatever reason, want to sell new tires and make you pay full price for them. Tires and batteries should always be prorated within the mileage warranty or time frame of the warranty. And just for anyone in the market, there are a lot of options. Some walk-in tire stores will price match. Always good to shop around.

No problem starting off the line. Van is capable beyond recommended specifications. Stopping is harder. As already mentioned, trailer brake will help. Hardest part may be handling. Besides the obvious, that you are doing something advised against, you already know what the risks are. Injury and death. I say do it. It's a lease. Do whatever you want to do. Blow out the transmission, and you don't own it.
-
The dealership is suppose to prorate OEM tires and batteries. Getting a service writer to do that is a different story. I have found that the identical items are priced different on Direct Tires vs America's Tires web sites. You can also negotiate with the store, for different pricing. When you buy online, sometimes WalMart has good prices, as well as Amazon. Amazon also sells installation at Sears. Tires ship to the store, not your house. Then you have an appointment for installation.

I haven't seen a problem. I would also look at the rubber seal at the front edge of the hood opening. Some lamps are not completely sealed. They are vented to allow for heat and condensation to escape. Most vents are placed somewhere which doesn't receive direct water. But if the seal on the front is allowing water through, then that could be a source of water in the lamp housing.

It's hard for most of us to compare ownership experience between the VW and Ford. You will get more opinions than facts. -
