  1. Marketing only wants sell what they THINK 90% of the customers want to buy. Salespersons selling a product they know nothing about. Just counting beans.
  2. Yes, you cannot buy white letter 16s that small. When I grow up I think I want to be a professional tire painter.........or a brain surgeon........or a fry cook.
  3. Round 4: Went with 245s all around again. Only regret is that the rear tires just aren't wide enough. I didn't mount the 275s but did put 295s on them but they were pinched a bit too much. Could have run them though. Next time.
  4. Second that. Mine seems to have some harmonics going on about 70mph. Been trying to think of some way to deflect air without affecting functionality.
  5. I was told I could have mine in any color.......as long as it was white. What is Solar?
  6. I just use an MP3 player run thru the aux input. So simple. I cannot stand what is on the radio anymore. The factory stereo is not that great though but it beats spending tons of money.
  7. Certainly, it couldn't help but affect it, just a matter of to what degree. It's much harder to physically sense or "feel" the difference in an automatic than a stick shift. And it is more curiosity than concern.
  8. How did you "shut off" the auto door locks? I don't mind the seat belt reminding me so much but I despise the chiming that occurs simply with the front door open. I'd love to find a way to turn that sucker off that didn't involve a dealership or a degree in computer programming.
  9. I am doing a fit test so to speak on 225/60R16s on the front. It fits of course but I have not had the chance to drive it around to check for any scrubbing which it shouldn't. This is with a wheel with +40 to +42 offset so its bumped off just slightly from stock (had these just lying around). I bumped it out an additional 1.25" with a spacer just see how that affected the turning radius and boy is it tight.....but it still clears although I would be extremely surprised if there wasn't some rubbing issues with that particular setup (about +10ish and a little increased width). I took the spacers off because it was just a test to see where things might land if an adapter was used. 5x108 in a 16" wheel really is the bastard red-headed stepchild of the wheel world. Moral to the story is that 225/60R16 will work although there will be an increased speedo error from your 215/60R16 setup. I have been wondering what is the point where gearing becomes an issue? I think jrm233 is at the limit in diameter and still be able to turn the wheel (without additional mods).
  10. I don't have the same problem but I'm just annoyed with so-called "improved" technology. I don't want my doors to lock automatically, I want them to lock when I CHOOSE to lock them. Give me some manual locks and I'm happy. Give me some manual window cranks and I'm happy. Seems you have to pay extra to get something simple theses days. KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid.
  11. 215/65R16 works out to be 27" diameter. That may qualify you as putting the tallest tire on without a lift. Maybe even champion. That's a really tight fit on the front. I don't if you ever get the van in a bind with the wheels turned full on but it might rub then. But maybe not. I have a pickup that is really close like that and that is the only situation when there is any rubbing. Even then its not terrible so I don't worry about it much.
  12. Yes, for some a tall skinny tire has appeal where the next person may like a broader more robust tire. Some even like to have both at the same time just to make it interesting.
  13. The world would be a sad boring place without "odd". I like the wheel to protrude out past the fender but by virtue of a wide tire. A tall skinny tire, not so much.
  14. I'm sure it is a very, very familiar sight since I have four other vehicles in the driveway besides the TC. None have the same wheel size and/or bolt pattern as each other. My wife won't let me near her car because.......well because she is smarter than I am.
  15. I've wanted one for the passenger sliding door from the moment I drove it off the lot. Really hard to see in some circumstances. Please post some pics of the results if & when you can. I have a friend who runs a small glass shop but I haven't approached him about it yet.
  16. Yes, I just checked it and there is a TON of clearance back there. Maybe an inch or better. Ride or protection is not my goal. Someone on here said it perfectly. "Form > Function" Cost however is starting to matter. I have acquired over the past few months 3.5 sets of wheels with virtually brand new tires on them. Sometimes a Wheel Whore has to sell something.
  17. Will 15s fit over the brakes on the rear? I'm referring to the wheel specifically with no regard to the tire. Never mind the front. I don't have any 15s to test fit. Circa 2016.

    Oil

I only have been to buy new vehicles. I never ever go back there for service. The inspection is due next month and I will have the local garage change the oil at the same time. One stop shopping so to speak. Mileage is approaching 5k on the truck now.
  19. That what I thought it was. I'm bouncing around a plan in my head to do a partial insulation utilizing already existing recesses. Combine this with a material similar to the cover panels on the back doors to clean things up. Maybe something paintable. I really haven't worked out all the details by any means but the goal is to keep it simple and preferably low cost. One thing I don't want to do is to block the drain holes at the bottom of the body for condensation. We refer to them as "weep" holes. More about blocking some of the heat in summer, provide some sound dampening and to clean up the surfaces. I like your idea with the pull pins to align the table top. Nice and easy to remove.
  20. There it is...........not a bloody thing! Its all just for fun. I understand its going to crown a bit and may be able to compensate a little with air pressure which will probably cause me issues with the TPMS. These wheels came with the sensors in them and I'm going to see if they work or not. No big deal if they don't because I'm not running the sensors now with the 245s. I don't know if the sensors are different or not. Bonus if they work......no loss if they don't. Looking to put 225/50R16s on the front which is only a -1.6% drop in the front and +1.6% in the rear, for a total span of about 3.2% between them. Using the 215/55R16 stock as a baseline. Curious as to where you arrive at 7%? Is that the basic limit or do I possibly have my numbers wrong? Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're saying. Offset in the front won't be a problem, but I will have to space it out in the back to stay off the shocks.
  21. Dropped by the local tire shop this morning to ask about mounting the 275/45R16s on 7 inch rims. After explaining all the dimensions (which I already knew) the owner says they will try it but there might be a problem getting them to seat. The second guy sitting there never looked up the whole time simply says, "We'll get them on there." Second guy is the one who does the real work. I love those guys. They have been around for quite a while and have probably seen every odd-ball combination you can think of. Some of them for me.
  22. Certainly going to have to try this one out. I don't have anything back there but I'm just tickled to find a disable button for ANYTHING!
