Actually, I can sort of relate to the smoke part. Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, used to date this chickie (young lady would be quite a stretch) and we would go to the drag races and her thing was watching the burnouts. Not the races. And Chevy II Novas in particular. When I say she had a thing with the burnouts, man I mean she had a THING! The real race was back to the apartment! Thank God there is no video evidence.

I really don't get this one. To me it just looks like something is broken, I just can't figure out what the "goal" is. Is it to help with the "rolled fender" look? Maybe that's not the right term, I don't know. I have seen some really tight fits around the fenders and while its not my thing it has an interesting kind of effect. How some manage to even turn the front wheel without chewing up some fender has me puzzled. But not the camber thing, that just looks broke. And you know its just got to run thru some tires REAL quick.

I was thinking more along the lines of a roof spoiler and leg pipes.......... And I shake my head every time I pass a vehicle with all rim diameter and no tire.....looking like a Conestoga wagon rolling down the road. But, to each his own.

Does your 12V power actually work WITHOUT pressing this switch? In other words, does it enable or disable the 12V outlet? Sorry, you already answered that earlier....I didn't see it.

Indeed I do. So far I have only found two wide 16 inch tires (I don't really consider 245 or 255 wide) that I can get up under there without modification. I have the other one too waiting to go on but I have some work to get the front offset in a better place.

275/45R16 on the back and 225/55R16 on the front. There is nothing remotely practical about this setup, but these things ride like silk and stick to the road like glue. Heavy rain....maybe not so much. They look really good on the Outback too.

I'll take a SWAG at it and guess that it is........yellow?

CARGO LIGHT REMOVAL

Is that a finned aluminum heatsink on the back of that thing? -
CARGO LIGHT REMOVAL
OLDSCHOOLFOOL replied to windguy's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
Nope, mine is like jrm223 describes. Pops right out with a gentle squeeze. I want to rewire this light through a switch to disable it or to turn it and it alone on when I want it on. At least I can turn the dome light completely off. -
CARGO LIGHT REMOVAL

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but it looks like you need to remove the lens part first. That may allow access to the housing to remove it. It almost looks like a PCB under the lens but can't really tell. Maybe you have to take that out too. I don't think mine looks like that. -
Tried this out using some 3/16 clothesline I had on hand and it worked great! Such a simple solution with such great results......damn near genius! Many thanks Desert_Connect!

Pretty good likeness.......but I'm a little too old for tank tops anymore.

So true. In this case the best description I can come up with is "squirrely".

No worries, but I will take your advice next time GBL and turn off the Traction Control. When its all said and done, this would not be my first choice of a vehicle to drive in the snow.

Finally got it! 2018 TC Titanium LWB
OLDSCHOOLFOOL replied to Tom899's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Interesting......I think I like it. -
Nice little second day of spring snow out this morning so I am about to get my first taste of the TC in the snow. Have to get the van inspected & oil change before heading to NC next week. We'll see how she does but the Uniroyals on it are definitely not snow tires.

I like the cargo doors because I tend to enter and exit thru the back. I just know a hatch would whack me in the head (when I wasn't looking). What is that on the hitch, a step? -
I use a chair cushion, like for wooden kitchen chairs. Fits perfect.

Sweet! -
I had to Google what "bog standard" was. The quickest and easiest way to dress up an old vehicle by far is new wheels and tires. I like to think of tires and wheels on a car as new shoes and jewelry on a good looking woman. But then again, I'm a Wheel Whore..........

I will certainly try this out. Headed to the Outer Banks in a couple weeks to work on the Sunnyside Beach Cottage Retirement home with some good windshield time. The trip would be much more enjoyable without a bunch of humming.

Easier to modify. You know if they sold such a thing inside a week someone would have a 5.0 sitting in it. Three months later there would be a kit for most anyone to do it. Sadly, none of these little vans are RWD.

A rear wheel drive would be even more interesting. From my pov. And a "less awkward Traction control switch" is really an understatement. After a good bit of trial & error I finally found it (I even did the RTFM command). The manual is very good about telling you that you CAN do this, but sorely lacking in telling you just HOW to accomplish the task. I hope like hell I never need to turn it off WHILE driving. That would be exponentially worse than texting while driving.

Had the 275/45R16s mounted today on the16x7 Volvo rims without issue and they look pretty good. In and out at the tire shop 15 minutes flat. I'm working on a scheme whereby I can run them both on the TC and the Outback since they use very similar size tires & wheels albeit different bolt patterns. Waiting on the front tires and some custom made adapters from Australia.
