  1. Getting lucky only twice is hardly anything to brag about.....
  2. The cruise control is a nice have with my lead foot. Generally, I don't use it except on long trips though. Its sort of hilly around here and the van tends to downshift far too often.
  3. I tried these Toyo Extensa A/S tires and was quite impressed with how smooth they rode and how quiet they were. Don't think they are available in the stock 215/55R16 size though. I used 225/55R16 instead which is very close. The Continentals didn't stay on long enough to wear out but tires seldom do on my vehicles.
  4. I'm not a fan of hubcaps either, but almost anything is an improvement over bare steel factory wheels. And a helluva lot cheaper than a new set of wheels. Oh, and there are places around here where they STILL hang the hubcaps on fences.
  5. When the Amish start dropping ludes with Mr. Cosby I'd say there might be reason for concern. Until then, not so much.
  6. Is it mandatory over there to KEEP it in the van? The VERY first thing I did to my truck was to take it out. I do however fully understand the benefits of having it in but I don't use the van for work nor do I transport any animals. It tends to restrict vision quite a bit.
  7. I was asking about the BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S...specifically. Or trying to anyway.
  8. Reading through this thread I would say that's a no on the tires.
  9. They can keep them. I would never pay a "core charge" on a piece of plastic. Nucking futz.
  10. Does anyone have any experience with these BF Goodrich tires? Light snow use is what I'm mainly interested in. We don't get an enormous amount of snow in VA, but some. Snow tires are generally an ugly sort with limited sizes but these are pretty good looking tires and I can get the size I want. BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S Yeah, I know it is almost July.
  11. Uh-huh, that's a helluva lot more trust than I got............
  12. I like those. Mind if I ask where you got those from specifically? I know there are plenty out there but I tend to like to use something I've already seen installed. Looks like you did a great job!
  13. Yep, no biggie. Except we are headed to North Carolina this evening. Its a working vacation and I don't want to get distracted from working on the Sunnyside Beach Cottage Retirement Home. It's finally coming together after about five years working on it.
  14. Got enough paint to do the moldings just above the taillights. Will start with those first since they are relatively small and I can see how I like the results. Need a couple of days curing time where the van isn't moving so it will need to wait until we get back from OBX for the 4th. Love a road trip.
  15. Put the pigeons in a baking dish, with the strip of bacon over each. Place them in a hot (500 degrees F) oven and bake for 5 minutes. Blend the butter and flour over low heat, then add the stock, Kitchen Bouquet, and seasoning and stir until smooth. Add the pigeons and the onions. Let simmer for one hour over very low heat. Then put the pigeons and sauce in a pie dish, cover with a pastry crust, and bake at 500 degrees F for about 12 minutes.
  16. Here in VA we would just take the doors OFF......call it "going native".
  17. Its been my experience that fisheye mirrors are good for seeing that SOMETHIING is there, but not necessarily what it is or precisely WHERE it is. Other persons may use them better than me though. My original point is simply that there are tools and methods beyond a complex electronic device to accomplish a simple task.
  18. You guys have gone way off the rails here, STDs & LTDs.....two of the ugliest things in the world. I liked these Jaguar wheels so much I got a second set. The pictures in the ad were pretty bad and the price was so good I figured the wheels were in really crappy shape and I would just use them for "winter wheels". Turns out they are in great shape and I cannot bring myself to put snow tires on them. Choices of something "interesting" out there to put on them are extremely limited however. So I think I will use the Toyo tires, retire the Volvo wheels since they are only 16x7s and find them a good home. In the back of my mind (plenty of space back there) I was halfway considering trying to put these on the back. 315/50R16
  19. I used to work for this guy long ago and moved around equipment a lot. He rigged up a 2 flag system, one on the hitch and one on the receiver. Low tech but worked like a charm. Back windows are a must though.
  20. "ANGRY STYLE" Memories of an ex-wife's cooking.
  21. One day that will be me, with or without GPS.
  22. Flying cars in the fifties.....I think the first one in 1949. "Life is over rated, nobody gets out alive."
  23. I suspect there is already a portion of the population that has forgotten how to get to work each day without the assistance of a GPS.
