  1. Sure, this indicates a change in the position of the center axis of the tire. That is what would have to occur to change the turning radius. Changes to the width or height of the tires, in and of itself, would not.
  2. Now that's what a dashboard should look like...…..minus the record player.?
  3. Its too early in the morning for math. I would think that the turn radius would stay the same unless something else occurred to move the actual position of the tire or for some reason you couldn't turn the wheel full on or something. Something other than just the diameter of the wheel would have to change. Not trying to argue with you or even say that you're wrong, just that I work right now as a CAD operator and the geometry of the statement caught my interest. I'm weird like that. I think possibly with your truck that the offset may have changed to get those bigger tires to fit or just simply it never COULD make those u-turns before either.
  4. Love to see it, personally I LIKE impurities. I don't want to see the same damned thing all the time.
  5. I have been wondering if anyone with the Gen I version had modified the wheel well trim in order to get taller tires on it? It appears to me that you could easily enough trim away some of the plastic around the wheel wells. I haven't found any pics of someone doing such. The Gen II doesn't offer the same possibility.
  6. I was hoping I had such a button, but nooooooo…….I have to go through some convoluted sequence on the info display. And then go through that same convoluted sequence AGAIN......every time I switch the engine off. They should make it legal to strangle engineers.?

  8. I don't have a solution for you Nomechanic, but I can certainly feel your pain. All this fluff and puff nonsense just drives me nuts. There may be something in the manual that might help with at least some of the nuisance "enhancements".
  9. That could depend on what year it is. 2012 and older I think used a different bolt pattern and hub bore. Try this, there is a TON of info on there. www.wheel-size.com
  10. Mr. Parker If you REALLY want a set AND you buy into the premise of this thread (some wouldn't) check out these.......not sure if the link will take you straight there. $142 each. https://www.autoanything.com/wheels-rims/american-racing-torq-thrust-m-wheels Part #: AR105M77552A Offset: 45mm Backspacing: 6.02" Max Load: 1600 lbs. Centerbore: 65.10mm Diameter: 17" Width: 7.5" 5 x 110mm Single Bolt Pattern
  11. Those are decent looking wheels but don't meet my particular needs. Tire Rack really sucks in that it will only allow you to search by vehicle, which is fine is you're looking to stay at factory specs plus or minus a little. I ain't that guy.
  12. Thanks 5150. That's just what I needed to see. Been wanting to paint mine white but those plastic mounting plugs were still holding it on and I couldn't tell precisely what it was. Didn't want to just yank on it and break something. It's what I THOUGHT it was, now I KNOW.
  13. Not sure just what model you have. You're right, the price is prohibitive and that's just for the blank. You'd have to pay more for the custom drilling. I like the mirror finish personally.
  14. I agree 100%. My TC came brand new with variation lug nuts on the stock wheels, why I have no idea. My goal isn't Saab wheels, but to get some old school chrome wheels on it. Saab is just an example. There are some good looking Saab wheels out there but they are all too narrow for my application. Finding the right parts with the right specs is quite the challenge.
  15. Yeah, I kinda get that. I do remember the uni-lugs. 4.25 with the washer turned one way, 4,75 flipped around. Washers with holes in center for 4.5. Back then most cars were lug-centric and you were almost ASSURED some "wobble".
  16. Crazy maybe, but if that's what blows your skirt up......... One problem you might have with such an idea is the door running into the window. I seem to recall that the old "bubble" windows sat proud from the van.
  17. In the ever elusive quest for wheels for the Transit Connect, wheels that probably don't exist in the first place, I started doing some light reading about people mounting Saab (5x110) wheels on Volvos (5x108) and Volvo wheels on Saabs. According to the math this should work. With only 2mm difference in BC diameter, 1mm ( a mere .039") each side, there should be enough tolerance in the wheel hole to allow it. You would need to use wobble nuts (variation PCD lug nuts), but it should work.
  18. That's not cheating, that's thinking outside the box and getting the job done. Never have been a purist at pretty much anything.
  19. One really has to wonder what the heck the thought process was on this one. The only thing I can think is that they must have passed out tubes of glue at engineering meetings.
  20. And just how will the notification go off? Oil was changed at 5k, and now at 9.8k the notification is on. I assume based on the 7.5 to 10k interval.
