I hope the lug nuts do the trick , it is a great Idea. The wheel studs being built into the Hub and not replaceable is complete Rubbish . I Checked out the hubs on both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 and they are like every other hub in the industry , pressed in studs and fully replaceable. You need to find a better parts store if studs are needed.
-
Not sure what tools you have . An Air hammer make the job easier ,but a stout hammer and a brass drift will be fine. Get several good nuts , not the lug nuts to pull the studs in , make sure to lubricate the threads. What is your shops rate? It could be a good deal in the end. Keep us posted.

The studs are a good idea . 5/8" is close have you tried one and put a torque wrench on it ?
-
What is the total depth of the lug nut and how far did it thread into the lug nut on the Alloy?
-
You can measure the stick out of the stud from the steel wheel and then do the same for the alloy wheel and see what the difference is . You can also put the steel wheel on and count the turns before the nut contacts the taper, and then do it for the alloy. If you do have to change the studs any good auto parts can find new longer studs that will fit.

You need to put pressure on the cooling system when the engine is cold so you can move what is around the EGR valve and then you will see where the coolant is leaking.

Very nice!

Sounds Promising . Update as needed.

If the engine runs well and does not start after it sits for a while is an indication of an air leak some where in the supply line from the tank and the primary filter. if there is a leak between the lift pump and the high pressure pump then you should see a fuel leak. Keep posting, can you get a photo of the supply fuel set up?
-
If you open the bleed fitting and turn on the pump do you get fuel out of the fitting? Sounds like a different mechanic is needed. The fact that it is a diesel means there is an ocean between you and me so i am only able to offer moral support.

Did the van have trouble before the New filter? If not then it must have started at that filter?

You EU guys are fortunate that both your TC's and Focus"s are available with standard trans missions. That alone would make the swap much easier. I think that the swap could be done here if all the electronics on the in car unit were installed on the power plant to be installed .

If you go to ford. com you can download an owners Manual for both cars and see what the transmission ratios are between the Focus and the TC. Let Us Know what you find.

The adaptor and the free software makes the Lap top a scan tool which would allow the steering relearn to be done. I think we are on the same page Don!

A good scan tool will you perform a steering angle relearn , a good place to start.

Brake Issue (Clutch related?)
G B L replied to LakeDistrictPaul's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Sounds like a vacuum gauge on the line from the pump to the booster would be a good test for the pump. Would love to see the routing diagram for the hoses. -
Brake Issue (Clutch related?)
G B L replied to LakeDistrictPaul's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Any chance of a Vacuum diagram? We have little access to any literature on the EU Models. If the brakes are normal with it in gear something is switching the booster off when either the clutch or the shift linkage is moved. Any chance of pictures and more information? -

The US does not have the diesel version. How is the vacuum pump driven? could the clutch linkage be hitting something when engaged? Any pictures of the booster and clutch pedal layout? -

Check the manual there may be an audio in in the console.

Check the fluid Level , have some one shift the car while you Look at the Motor. How many Miles is the warranty ? Get the shift memory cleared so the TC can learn how you drive . Changing the Trans fluid would not hurt either. Did you get a really good deal? The operative theme for me and used cars is Do You Feel Lucky!
