  1. Ok thanks for your replies, oil sump was rusted and leaking in a couple of places, van is a 2007 so this could maybe be the first replscement of the sump? Not sure on the life of them but it could have been there from new so wont worry about it. There was no sludge in the sump and only a couple of other lumps but they broke up when squashed was a bit like carbon.
  2. Not sure i have only had it 10 months, ride my luck and hope its from a previous repair? Did have a starting problem that now seems to be resolved but there was a good bit of easy start used, could this have mucked it up.
  3. Van runs fine but i take it this could be something very serious?
  4. So it would make a circle about 45mm wide, its about 1.5mm thick and very hard so guess steel.
  5. Had to change oil sump as it had a leak but just found a bit of shinny metal, its curved and about 20mm long 10mm wide. What could it be from?
  6. Right started first turn of the key this morning and everytime since, i think the fuel filter was knackered and when hes replaced it he has not primed it right or got all the air out. Fingers crossed its fixed.
  7. Theres no fitting, i got it towed up the road and have been mucking about with it, can tell the hand pump he fitted has issues, anyway i sooked the fuel up a few times(nasty stuff) and got it going, hand pump not letting enough fuel through as splutters when not much load, took the hand pump out and its running perfect, i need to wait a few hours or overnight to see if it will start again as this was seemingly the issue and reason hand pump was fitted, hes told me its a high pressure pump issue but would it run perfect if this was the case?
  8. No stopped starting before filter was fitted, he has now fitted a new filter and hand pump and it not starting at all, if you use the hand pump it starts to get stiff( the hand pump) and then goes soft again, surley this should go hard and stay hard, im not sure hes fitted it right or its not got a return valve in it, anyway hes gave up so i towed it home. He told me before he fitted this pump if he primed the diesel it was starting and run fine.
  9. As far as am aware nothing has been checked, mechanic jstt said he does not know whats wrong so fitting this pump so i can get it back. Think i need a better mechanic.
  10. Van would not start, just turned over, been to garage and had new fuel filter, call today saying when primed it runs fine and starts a few hours later but if left longer fuel is running back to tank, mechanic says he does not know whats wrong but has fitted me a priming pump and to come get it, any ideas?
