  1. Try this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufacturers/ford/10468169/Ford-Tourneo-Connect-review.html Not sure about Gen2 but mine is extremely stable and precise in steering, apart from side wind, of course.
  2. Also the same in the Gen1 TC. I have never seen a car with a covered steering column. Usually it's high behind the dashboard and you don't notice it. With the more upright cabin it's out in the open.
  3. Have you checked the rear drums? I have had problems with those. Replaced twice because they're oval.
  4. Mine's Diesel. An it's funny, but it gets an mpg or two better in city driving. The wind drag drops a couple, I guess. I just recently replaced the transmission, the current one is from a Focus and has a better final drive ratio - less shifts, less wasted movement, better fuel economy.
  5. 40 mpg in the city, a little less on the highway. Drops to 30 in the winter.
  6. Get a Mk1 Focus 1.8TDi gearbox from a scrapper. I did and it's awesome (cost €180 + installation). Much better final gear ratio (2000 rpm at 60 mph in 5th gear). It's a direct fit.
  7. That video is disturbing. The first thing to do after drilling is to rustproof the holes (inside! plenty of body protection compounds available) and put silicone under the plug before screwing it it. No point in smearing it around the plug because it'll dry up and lose its water tightness.
  8. 1) Door insulation 2) Speaker upgrade 3) Amp
  9. You'll lose most of the usable tread in the first summer, so I recommend a swap every season.
  10. Well, it is the same car, Transit name is only reserved for panel vans in Europe, seats and windows mean Tourneo.
  11. This is normal. All speedometers read a few percent too fast if using factory spec tire size.
  12. 1) bright foreground will strain your eyes unnecessarily when keeping your focus on bright background, it's a balance of exposure that's important, just like in a camera. 2) headlights with High/Low in the same enclosure cannot be used due to extreme heat generated in the same space.
  13. The body is solid and pretty much fully rust proof. Mine's 9 years old, done 170,000 miles in the rust belt and has a few paint defects. The metal is galvanized so the bare spots turn white instead of brown. The underbelly has just some surface rust in a couple of spots, much less than expected from a car of this age in this climate. Can't comment on the American drive train as mine's diesel manual (still tight, doesn't burn any oil), had a fuel pump rebuild 2 years ago and the gearbox started making noise this year, replaced it with a Focus box from a scrapyard.
  14. Is it 2.5L? The power description does not sound like 1.6L.
  15. I'm not sure if you're on DRL. My Gen1 has DRL and these are only at 70% or so, rather weak for night driving. Manually switching the lights on sends full power to the headlights and they're awesome, both, low and high beams.
  16. In snow belt the mudflaps let you remove ice buildup more easily as the mudflap is elastic and lets go of the pile of ice easily when kicked.
  17. I understand, here's a plate holder with multiple mounting points for American cars (which I have on my TC):
  18. Euro plate holder backplate is usually made of holes in different positions so you can mount it any way possible in pretty much 10 mm steps. How's yours?
  19. Yeah, get the short OEM ones. You'll rip off the long flaps when reversing into a curb.
