rear door not on central locking
mrtn replied to dreamwarrioruk's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Key Fobs & Remote Start
We just recently had the same question. Do the rear doors unlock by two front door keyturns? -
You get the emulsion foaming in the oil when you take lots of short trips and the oil never really heats up. The formed condensation combines with oil and looks like you had a head gasket problem.

Didn't go that well, it was a carburetted 1.3 OHV (Kent).

Gas.

Done it in my Escort. Was a simple and straightforward job with the Haynes repair manual (couldn't imagine doing it without one) and the right tools.

LWB + Ecoboost = No Dice. Why????
mrtn replied to DapperVan's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Oh, okay, N/A engines seem to be rare these days. Haven't driven either of them, so I have no idea how they perform. The fuel economy of the 1.6 + autobox looks to be the worst end of class tho. There have been some weird engine decisions over here too: the Edge only gets a 2.0 diesel, no other options. Anyone looking for a near luxury crossover will go get a Murano/EX/FX, Volvo XC, a matching German or a Grand Cherokee. I would love a TC with that engine. Would be nice to bang on the Autobahn, instead we only get 1.0/1.6 Ecoboosts and 1.5/1.6 turbodiesels. -

This configuration actually is available, it's just the marketing department decision not to offer it in your area. 1.6 + LWB is available over here but we don't get the 2.5 Ecoboost at all. -
Can I tap into my stock radio for power?
mrtn replied to mra20223's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
Sure but we need to determine the source of the signal trying to wake the monitor up when the reverse is not engaged. -

What does it do when you disconnect the wireless receiver's video cable from the monitor? -

What kind of camera is it? I connected my screen to the constant power of the overhead cabin light and the camera remote start cable (attached to the camera unit) to the reverse light cable in the rear cluster. So the camera only turns on when the reverse lights turn on and once it starts feeding the picture the screen turns on. -
A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner (or wifi, if you're in Apple party) plus accompanying smartphone application will read everything you need. Just a few bucks in total.

Heh. Love it when these things happen to someone else. Because, one day it's gonna be me writing this.

Do the rear doors open with a key double turn? If yes then the electricity works and it's a programming/fob issue. No idea about the blinker, first time hearing this. Headlights cost next to nothing in scrappers. Headliner plugs are VERY HARD to get out, very durable but they break if you manage to overpower them.

trans drain and fill for 2014 TC w/2.5 L 6 speed auto
mrtn replied to Bret1197's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
Black fluid is not normal by any measurement method. The ATF usually gets lighter pink over time, not darker. Black usually means burnt discs. -

The 30K mile mark goes with all ATFs, regardless the manufaturer's claim. My favorite are the Liftime fluids and manufacturer's efforts to make fluids non-replaceable by leaving out drain and fill plugs. -

Okay, didn't know that. Sounds like a design error and should be recalled. -

The TC has been leak free for the past 10 years tho (apart from the steering rack). -

Sometimes the leaks and other unnecessary problems appear in vehicles you would expect the least. Historically a Ford leaking - everybody are like "oh, okay". I had a brand new Honda, crank seal leaking at 10K miles. No-one would even believe that -
Sir, you really need an extra vehicle you could perform modifications on solely to your wife's opposition but still do it. It's good for testosterone production.

Most European TC panel vans have the dual lens mirrors. Gen1 wagons were equipped with the single section ones but I don't think it's the case with the Gen2. I've only seen the "optional" ones pictured above. Regarding the A-pillar issue: also the Gen1 A-pillar easily blocks a bicyclist (or an unfortunate sub-compact car) approaching from the left. I've gotten used to rocking left and right at every left turn to mitigate that.

Purchasing a New 16TC - XLT
mrtn replied to Daniel Eoin Duarte's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Correct. Now get a Bluetooth adapter for audio streaming and you're covered. CDs belong to the shelf. -
You'll need to remove the overhead shelf and the front part liner. It is very rigid and cannot be bent. You'll probably need new plugs for reattachment as they wear out when removing. Make a good rust seal there when you drill.

800-900 are correct rpm. There have been several reports of diesel TC electronic accelerator pedals failing and causing all kinds of engine speed problems. Not sure if it's the same unit tho.
-
Same question - do the rpm drop or is it losing a cylinder or two.
