  1. And plug wires off (for anyone else learning from this thread).
  2. The fuel cost is pretty much identical. Now around €1/L (€3.78/gal) for 95RON (91AKI), was €1.8 (€6.8/gal) during the high oil price. The diesel engines are being changed this year. I think they did "VW" with their Gen2 "Euro6" diesels and are now forced to replace them with actual Euro6 emission class units, possibly forced to use AdBlue to meet the required emission levels. Don't think we see anything before autumn. There's supposed to be a new PowerShift robot box introduced with the new engines but no-one really knows. I need to do some calculations. Maybe get a hobby car for fun driving. 95RON is the lowest octane we get from pumps, 98RON Premium is for high compression engines. There are some rare stations selling 92 for old Russian trucks.
  3. I am trying to convince myself NOT to buy the 1.6 Ecoboost and go for the diesel and now you say all those things.
  4. I agree, I only see point in SWB if you use it for delivering small packages or live in an European city.
  5. My sliding door lock gets really lazy when it's below -15C outside and you can hear it struggling and at some point just gives up.
  6. Don't think so. I'm spending a lot of time on mobile.de looking for a new van and the black bezels show up alongside with chrome all the time. They appear in all kinds of trims. Here's the basest of base, it doesn't even have a radio: And here's a moderately equipped one, with painted bumpers, Bluetooth etc.
  7. Plenty. Look around, several threads on the issue.
  8. We just recently had the same question. Do the rear doors unlock by two front door keyturns?
  9. You get the emulsion foaming in the oil when you take lots of short trips and the oil never really heats up. The formed condensation combines with oil and looks like you had a head gasket problem.
  10. Didn't go that well, it was a carburetted 1.3 OHV (Kent).
  11. Done it in my Escort. Was a simple and straightforward job with the Haynes repair manual (couldn't imagine doing it without one) and the right tools.
  12. Oh, okay, N/A engines seem to be rare these days. Haven't driven either of them, so I have no idea how they perform. The fuel economy of the 1.6 + autobox looks to be the worst end of class tho. There have been some weird engine decisions over here too: the Edge only gets a 2.0 diesel, no other options. Anyone looking for a near luxury crossover will go get a Murano/EX/FX, Volvo XC, a matching German or a Grand Cherokee. I would love a TC with that engine. Would be nice to bang on the Autobahn, instead we only get 1.0/1.6 Ecoboosts and 1.5/1.6 turbodiesels.
  13. This configuration actually is available, it's just the marketing department decision not to offer it in your area. 1.6 + LWB is available over here but we don't get the 2.5 Ecoboost at all.
  14. Sure but we need to determine the source of the signal trying to wake the monitor up when the reverse is not engaged.
  15. What does it do when you disconnect the wireless receiver's video cable from the monitor?
  16. What kind of camera is it? I connected my screen to the constant power of the overhead cabin light and the camera remote start cable (attached to the camera unit) to the reverse light cable in the rear cluster. So the camera only turns on when the reverse lights turn on and once it starts feeding the picture the screen turns on.
  17. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner (or wifi, if you're in Apple party) plus accompanying smartphone application will read everything you need. Just a few bucks in total.
  18. Heh. Love it when these things happen to someone else. Because, one day it's gonna be me writing this.
  19. Do the rear doors open with a key double turn? If yes then the electricity works and it's a programming/fob issue. No idea about the blinker, first time hearing this. Headlights cost next to nothing in scrappers. Headliner plugs are VERY HARD to get out, very durable but they break if you manage to overpower them.
  20. Black fluid is not normal by any measurement method. The ATF usually gets lighter pink over time, not darker. Black usually means burnt discs.
  21. The 30K mile mark goes with all ATFs, regardless the manufaturer's claim. My favorite are the Liftime fluids and manufacturer's efforts to make fluids non-replaceable by leaving out drain and fill plugs.
  22. Okay, didn't know that. Sounds like a design error and should be recalled.
