  1. A placebo tool for eco driving. Good thinking, Ford.
  2. 16" steelies are great for snow tires. No, wait..
  3. You must have really long arms to work in the back while seated.
  4. Yeah, I usually keep an eye on my cars, pop the hood weekly to check for leaks and fluid levels, track the parking spot for drips, check the CV-joint boots for cracks, etc.
  5. Thanks, the box is 6-speed auto, no other options. Pics have to wait until it arrives from another town. Not sure about the red emblem, the new emblem is quite big, thick and at an angle. I have already scheduled the full wrap for 16-18th of May.
  6. The Astro is Thirties technology, it's not supposed to return more than 13 mpg.
  7. Took it to a test drive for an hour. Very nice, made the deal. Probably to be delivered some time next week.
  8. Not exactly, in think the sensor assy includes rain and headlight sensors. There are several elements in my other cars.
  9. Test ride scheduled for tomorrow morning. Me using up my vehicles is more of an accident than a rule. I just like the current van so much that it's been hard to part with it. It's not normal, I know.
  10. I haven't driven it yet. FYI: the 1.6 Ecoboost Connect is detuned to 150 hp in Europe, probably for tax reasons, some states tax the crap out of anything above "slow". Can't buy a wagon version as it's not eligible for tax return in business use. The breakeven point by purchase price in comparison to similar diesel unit is roughly at 100 000 km and it'll take me a few years to get there. Naturally it'll hurt every time you fill up as an immediate emotion of driving a gas vehicle.
  11. I've been thinking of leaving the diesel team for a while. Recently the local dealer has dropped the price of some models they have in stock, including the 1.6 Ecoboost van. Going to make the decision tomorrow. It's dark blue LWB, Trend trim level with a tow hook, mud flaps and a rigid bulkhead, 3 seats in the front, alarm etc. My colleague suggested me getting a Transit Custom instead but I'm not ready to drive a mid-size van, too "business" for me.
  12. I have had an independent shop replace mine several times. Can't be bothered with that myself. Got an allergy back when I had an Escort that had been in an accident and badly repaired. Chewed wheel bearings and shocks weekly. I got so proficient with it that I was able to replace a shock absorber in 15 minutes sharp. This included jacking up the wheel, removing it, clamping down the spring, removing the McPherson assy, replacing the shock and putting it all back together. Never again
  13. What are your impressions now, a year in? Fuel economy in different scenarios? Issues to be reported?
  14. May be an engine mount on its way out.
  15. Yes! http://www.autoblog.com/2016/04/26/ford-ecoblue-turbodiesel-engine-transit-van/
  16. First put in the Transit and Transit Custom. No mention of Connect. If there's even a slight chance of this coming to Connect I'll hit brakes on my search for the new van right now.
  17. The ding protectors are attached by double sided tape.
