Roof attachment points on 2014 Transit Connect
mrtn replied to hdrider's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
I'm not sure how the model years are expressed but the rack and van pictured in the ebay link are Gen1. Gen1 machines are pretty much identical, except engine/transmission and some lights (side markers and roof mounted brake light). Gen2 are more similar with a matching 1.6 Ecoboost and auto transmission which is now available here as well. -

This is for Gen1 TC. Will not work on 2014. -
For fume extraction you need smth like this: http://www.vanbitz.co.uk/Low-Profile-Rotating-Van-Roof-Ventilator-2527/006-%28Black%29-2527/007-%28white%29/147.htm Insulating the bulkhead is not a solution.

Those were standard in euro-TCs, including mine. I still have a set, lost somewhere, haven't seen them for years.

2015 Ford Transit Connect: The Unminivan
mrtn replied to Transit Connect Guide's topic in 2015 Ford Transit Connect
Exactly. Just got back from a 300 mile day trip and spent the way back thinking of future mods. This is an 8 1/2 y old van. Never get tired of it. -

Oh, an update. He picked another color, which was available immediately: -
The manual transmission in TC is actually fun to drive, nippy and responsive. Excellent gearing for town driving in diesel model. This comes from an auto guy.

A Transit Connect in My Future!
mrtn replied to robertlane's topic in Buying, Leasing, Ordering & Owner Impressions
Thanks, yes I did. I have kept in in perfect shape, no point of selling it. Need to haul dirty stuff around every once in a while, snow blower, lawn mower, gardening stuff etc. -

I agree, I've just gotten a 30K mile 2012 5-seater instead of the new one. -
Try UK forum, I don't think the US ever got crank windows.

Yes, it gets hot and if your pollen filter is stuck it is unable to cool itself and overloads in general. Do your blow direction flaps work normally and the air passes everywhere you switch it?
-
Sounds a lot like connector problem if it started working again. The connector and resistor pack are behind the glove box. A bit difficult to work on but doable.
-
I have also experienced the same problem when the plug going into the resistor pack had melted due to heat from the overloaded connectors (I suggest you replace the pollen filter in time). So, I bought the resistor pack and eventually did not have to replace it. Fixed the plug.

You're good if you have an open cabin, with a bulkhead it's a squeeze.

The DRL in Europe in new cars works as follows. Daylight: LED fronts on, all other off Twilight/Dark: Low beam auto on, tails on.

1) should there be one? 2) if yes, what does the dealer say?

2014 Ford Transit Connect: Who has one?
mrtn replied to robertlane's topic in 2014 Ford Transit Connect
Weird. Here all trim levels have BT standard and it's independent from radio trim level (like digital radio or speaker count). With BT you get wireless audio and riddance of having to mess with aux cable. Sync adds an extra software layer for special apps like calling for rescue in case of an accident etc. -

Isn't there a Bluetooth connection in your XLT? -

My friend has been waiting for his Ranger Limited for 14 months and no idea if and when it will be delivered. -

There are plenty available in ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Drivers-OS-Car-Door-Wing-Mirror-Heated-Ford-Tourneo-Transit-Connect-/230922209964?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35c4094aac for much less. Here's just an example. -
Thanks! It's been great, just normal wear and tear, no real issues with anything. 250 000 km/155 300 mi) on the odo, doesn't seem to consume any oil between changes (15 000 km/9300 miles). Some major stuff: overhauled the diesel pump at 210 000 km (normal range for Bosch and Delphi pumps, up to 250K), replaced the steering rack at 230 000 km (tie rod inner end clunk), new exhaust pipe and muffler about the same time. I've just ordered a new rear brake pressure regulator, it didn't pass the inspection, too weak rear brakes. Rear ended a Mercedes Benz with my left headlight a year ago, due to my "excellent" positioning the insurance had to replace the left headlight, front bumper, hood and the left front wing. Luckily it was just cosmetic damage. Some rust starting to appear under the left door sill. Going to take care of it when it gets a bit warmer. You see the right side repainted in the picture (vinyl removed), had it done when the car was in the shop with the insurance case.
-
I have the 1st generation TC and I think it has even bigger windscreen so to help with the problem of low-hanging sun visors (being 6'4") I made a black sticker visor for it to the factory width so it passes the inspection. After that I've hardly ever used the visors again. It's a bit hard to see in this picture but you get the idea.

Nice review. Ask if you can get the same Ford LED cargo lighting we get here for free. It is so bright it is certified for workspace lighting if you decide to convert your cargo boot for that. If not then get a roll of matching voltage LED strip from e-bay or electronics store and hook it up to the original light socket. One standard roll should be enough to make a circle around the roof and some in the middle. If you're not familiar with a soldering iron then have it professionally installed, you'll love it.
