  1. 2.0? Hmm. Mk1 TC only came with 1.8 litre turbodiesel in four variants: 1.8 TDDi 75 hp (old style diesel, I had this) 1.8 TDCi 75 hp (common rail diesel) 1.8 TDCi 90 hp (common rail diesel) 1.8 TDCi 110 hp (common rail diesel with a different geometry turbo and talle main gear of 3.80 IIRC) All models can be remapped for higher output.
  2. There is an optional start-stop system in European models but it also has a different starter. You can’t use the standard one for start-stop.
  3. Looks just like Windstar.
  4. Leaning hard on two empty bottles of seafoam probably has some humor value.
  5. Nope, no rattle or any stability issues.
  6. Why? It’s a decent vehicle (AKA Toyota Auris/Corolla Hatchback) for what it’s made for.
  7. You can join the transit connect’ed facebook group and ask for opinions there. Half of the new model owners probably have the 1.5 liter diesel there as it’s been available for a couple of years already.
  8. Same issue as with my Mother-in-law’s PT Cruiser - the multifunction switch was well lubricated but the contacts were still wearing enought to form conductive bridges made of grease and copper dust and cause random lights to remain lit when the ignition was in “0” position. Took it apart, cleaned and applied new grease. Been okay since.
  9. Saw a brand new looking one (with a Finnish plates, not the one on the pic) a couple of weeks ago:
  10. I feel you but plain physics and engineering say if two cars of equal size and weight get into an accident the unibody will have significantly less corpses to go.
  11. It’s deliberate. They want to separate the Connect and full size Transit. They make more money on professional vans so they need to make sure the Connect is not fully usable for building contractors and such other than to haul tools and compressors around. It may feel too big of a jump in the US market but they actually have the Transit Custom in Europe to fit exactly between the Connect and fullsize.
  12. I would love myself a barebone E-series van (no fiberglass conversion).
  13. You killed a FOR SALE Plymouth?
  14. Not sure if it’s changed but my 96 Taurus had full power flowing through the multifunction stalk switch so it burnt like a candle. I wonder if it was ridiculous engineering or Ford tried to save money by leaving out a relay for headlights.
  15. There's no direct replacement. Anything even from Ford lineup needs to be modified slightly to fit the rails.
  16. Looks like they've partnered up with Continental (highest price group manufacturer) as well. I'm going to try Vredesteins next. My friend bought a set of these for his CR-V and the fuel economy has increased by a huge margin (half a litre per 100 km). Naturally, these are for summer only. https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/Tyres/Vredestein/Ultrac-Satin/225-60-ZR18-104W-XL-mit-Felgenschutzleiste--FSL-/R-316403
  17. I once entered a parking structure in a Russian ghetto in our town. It had no height beacon so I entered. Every beam was of different height which got me worried a bit until one moment I head a loud screech and came to a dead stop. I had pinned myself under one. Can't recall precisely but I think i lowered the tire pressure and asked the dumbass that took me there to stand on the rear bumper to lower the car to get it out of there.
  18. You might want to get T220 Connect springs. The van model has significantly lower payload. Mine was 825 kg / 1818 lbs.
  19. You can't pass the annual inspection without it so you can take it out but need to reinstall for the inspection time. Naturally, if you have a camper, it's ok but power tools become fatal projectiles in high-G maneuvers, such as a crash.
  20. Yup, it's mandatory in Europe. You can't buy a van without one.
  21. The cutout is for the original Euro version and is off center thus being illegal in the US. I think the Feds forced Ford to install a new brake light to meet the DOT standard.
