I don't like it nearly as much as the previous style. And I still do not like the "liftgate" regardless of how many people tell me it has been offered before!!
-
I wouldn't like that top hinged tailgate at all, especially if it is held up by gas struts.

So are you saying to adjust the pressure in order to get the light to go out, before attempting the reset procedure? If so, that makes sense, and I can see how that could be problem. if one didn't know about it. Generally the method in the book, without the magnet tool has worked consistently for me. Some tires you might want to look at next time are the Nokian Entyres. They do meet all the factory specs and are in the same price range as the Continentals. There are several more expensive options, but the Nokians were the only tires I found that were about the same price. Only a few thousand miles on mine so far so I can't say if they last longer. I hope so.

disappointed with estimated mpg for city driving
Willie replied to TransitTenore's topic in Gasoline
Hey that's still better than that your Mitchell does on its best day! Seriously though, you should be doing better than that. I often get 30 mpg at the speed limit. The TransConn does seem to be sensitive to speed but even so, it should never be below 25! Is it absolutely necessary for you to drive so fast? Because it is costing you to do so. Why not just try a tank full at legal speeds a see what happens? -
Serpentine belt tensioner toast at 95000 miles - how to replace?
Willie replied to Scott Stokley's topic in Gasoline
Way to go, Scott! Good on ya. -
Yikes!! My 2010 wagon cost me $20,000 even and arrived in a few days!! By the way, the TC is a great car BUT IF, AND ONLY IF its what you want. If you are actually looking for a 50 mpg Lexus capable of zero to sixty in four seconds while towing a mobile home, this ain't it, (but neither is anything else)!

FORD, any news on possible diesel for USA? or at least a manual trans.
Willie replied to odinthewanderer's topic in Diesel
Hi Odin: I too like the simplicity and versatility of the TransConn. On four lanes, at legal speeds, and with summer blend gas in the tank, I routinely get 30 mpg. I don't think that is terribly bad for a vehicle the size of ours. I love sports cars and even own one, but I just feel no desire to push the Transit that hard. I guess that is reflected in my mileage. I have always driven manual transmission cars and still do. But in the TC, I think I'd rather have a more efficient automatic with more gears. Willie -
2011 Mirrors for a 2010
Willie replied to skurtz's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
And thats just the glass, right Mike? -
There seem to be two different approaches to a Trans Conn camper. Some like built-in cabinetry and others prefer something less elaborate. which can be added and removed at a moments notice. I guess it depends upon how often one camps and other uses the vehicle is put to.

I have three for sale also. Email privately.

Right after I bought my 2010 Trans Conn my wife and I took a cruise ship sailing from Baltimore harbor. The cruise ship dock was right next door to the Transit Connect facility and several workers there asked me how I liked the van.
-
This is so surprising to me. When I ordered my Trans Conn in 2010, it was on the dealer's lot the next week! No problem at all. What happened?

After much searching I finally found a tire that may be a replacement alternative for the stock Contis. It is the Nokian eNTYRE (their cornball spelling). It comes in the 205 65 15 size as the originals. It is load and speed rated at 99H. It is "extra load" with maximum inflation of 51 psi. It is tread-ware, speed, temperature rated at 700 A A. It has "all season" tread of an asymmetrical design. It is made in Russia and seems to sell for about the same price as the OEM Contis. Just an option I thought I'd alert you folks of. I plan on trying them.

Next-Generation Transit Connect
Willie replied to Transit Connect Guide's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Are the dimensions similar to the current version? -
I'm surprised you were able to find Michelins capable of holding the 49 psi. I've been looking for replacement tires for my TC and the tire people have been telling me the Conti is the sole choice.

Welcome and I hope the remainder of your wait is a shorter than it has been!

Thanks for answering. I hadn't known that Ford offered TC specific mud flaps. Looks like over a hundred bucks for four. Is that right? Anybody have any other options?
-
Has anyone found any after-market mudflaps they particularly like? I'm looking for inexpensive and easy to install. I've seen a few mentioned here but no follow up after purchase.
-
That's the best idea I've heard in decades!!!!

Handle with care though, they are easy to snap when removing. Don't ask how I know, but gorilla glue works well as a repair!
