  1. Sure but we need to determine the source of the signal trying to wake the monitor up when the reverse is not engaged.
  2. What does it do when you disconnect the wireless receiver's video cable from the monitor?
  3. What kind of camera is it? I connected my screen to the constant power of the overhead cabin light and the camera remote start cable (attached to the camera unit) to the reverse light cable in the rear cluster. So the camera only turns on when the reverse lights turn on and once it starts feeding the picture the screen turns on.
  4. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner (or wifi, if you're in Apple party) plus accompanying smartphone application will read everything you need. Just a few bucks in total.
  5. Heh. Love it when these things happen to someone else. Because, one day it's gonna be me writing this.
  6. Do the rear doors open with a key double turn? If yes then the electricity works and it's a programming/fob issue. No idea about the blinker, first time hearing this. Headlights cost next to nothing in scrappers. Headliner plugs are VERY HARD to get out, very durable but they break if you manage to overpower them.
  7. Black fluid is not normal by any measurement method. The ATF usually gets lighter pink over time, not darker. Black usually means burnt discs.
  8. The 30K mile mark goes with all ATFs, regardless the manufaturer's claim. My favorite are the Liftime fluids and manufacturer's efforts to make fluids non-replaceable by leaving out drain and fill plugs.
  9. Okay, didn't know that. Sounds like a design error and should be recalled.
  10. The TC has been leak free for the past 10 years tho (apart from the steering rack).
  11. Sometimes the leaks and other unnecessary problems appear in vehicles you would expect the least. Historically a Ford leaking - everybody are like "oh, okay". I had a brand new Honda, crank seal leaking at 10K miles. No-one would even believe that
  12. Sir, you really need an extra vehicle you could perform modifications on solely to your wife's opposition but still do it. It's good for testosterone production.
  13. Most European TC panel vans have the dual lens mirrors. Gen1 wagons were equipped with the single section ones but I don't think it's the case with the Gen2. I've only seen the "optional" ones pictured above. Regarding the A-pillar issue: also the Gen1 A-pillar easily blocks a bicyclist (or an unfortunate sub-compact car) approaching from the left. I've gotten used to rocking left and right at every left turn to mitigate that.
  14. Correct. Now get a Bluetooth adapter for audio streaming and you're covered. CDs belong to the shelf.
  15. You'll need to remove the overhead shelf and the front part liner. It is very rigid and cannot be bent. You'll probably need new plugs for reattachment as they wear out when removing. Make a good rust seal there when you drill.
  16. I have made a snug fit wooden block for the seam to protect it when I lift the car with a jack.
  17. 800-900 are correct rpm. There have been several reports of diesel TC electronic accelerator pedals failing and causing all kinds of engine speed problems. Not sure if it's the same unit tho.
  18. Same question - do the rpm drop or is it losing a cylinder or two.
  19. No-one's getting hurt, except perhaps the states who tax based on the power output It makes more sense to tax emissions and it's only legally relevant if you cross the bracket with your remap.
  20. It's a different thing we're talking about here. There's a de-tuned Focus motor in the TC and they write the Focus injection map in the TC ECU, bringing the power figures to the Focus levels. So it's not illegal like VW's trickery. All the emission rates stay the same or very close to the original limits, well in the legal scale.
  21. No, I have contemplated it but it's too expensive over here and I haven't gotten to send it over to England, might do it once I get the new van. The wagon is already 90 hp and it's good enough and the van is too old already. It's well worth the money, IMHO. Which remapper have you looked at? I mainly see Vantuner and Jennifer Rigby doing it the correct way.
  22. The Fiesta van (and Opel Corsa van) are essentially just a stripped and blanked out passenger cars, good for couriers delivering envelopes. Disposable tools. The next size is much more fun - including Škoda Praktik/Roomster and Ford Transit Courier.
  23. Europeans only got the auto with the new generation. I guess the Focus tranny can't take the diesel torque and/or the gearing is off for the rpm band, and again, gasoline van market is pretty much non-existent. The TC gasoline motor was also 1.8 liters, not 2.0. I can't recall the Focus years but it's the first generation platform, the one that replaced the Escort. Go have fun in ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-FORD-TRANSIT-CONNECT-FRONT-GRILL-STAINLESS-STEEL-CHROME-2009-TO-2013-/281625115925?fits=Model%3ATransit+Connect&hash=item41922a3d15:g:op8AAOSwxN5WWGVP http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHROME-SIDE-DOOR-WING-MIRROR-TRIM-SET-COVERS-FOR-09-13-LHD-FORD-TRANSIT-CONNECT-/200975060464?fits=Model%3ATransit+Connect&hash=item2ecb0c0df0:g:WLgAAMXQRkdR5q6T AFAIK the new model only comes in two lenghts and single height. The older model was either LWB/High or SWB/low in Europe, the former in the US. I guess they didn't see a market for a subcompact van right away because the compact van market virtually didn't exist in North America. Now it seems completely different, every single US movie or TV show has at least one TC in the view at all times for outdoor shots :D
  24. I saw someting in ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CENTRE-CONSOLE-ARMREST-BOX-DASHBOARD-DASH-TRIM-BK-09-13-FORD-TRANSIT-CONNECT-/190931286157
