  1. Mercedes-Benz already has a direct competitor for the TC: the Renault Kangoo based Citan It's more like a cheaper Fiat/RAM/PSA competitor and not luxurious at all. The design is a bit cheap, including the materials.
  2. Something's wrong here. DRL should not turn on the dashboard lights, that's how you notice the actual lights being off. And are you sure the DRL runs low beam? It's a dim high beam in mine.
  3. Now that you mentioned it, just xovers, sedans and SUVs here as well.
  4. I'm 99% sure the Ecoboost model does have a dipstick.
  5. Been driving windowless cargo vans for the past 10 years now. If you really need more than wing mirrors you can get a rear view camera and have it on all the time. Perhaps even connected to a dash cam, somoeone here had done it. They're really cheap now.
  6. European manufacturers figured this out quickly and simultaneously started to produce sportwagons, you can have AMG Mercs, RS Audis etc. I think Alfa Romeo 156 was the original sportwagon giving the kick in the butt for everyone. Now there are sportwagons available from Cadillac, who would have thought. Pretty nice for a 20-yo design: I drive to Germany a couple of times a year. The leftmost lane on the Autobahn is occupied by Porsches, Lambos and wagons.
  7. The 2.0 Ecoboost is rated at 240 hp over here. That would be mindless fun in a TC.
  8. That's why the passenger models have a liftgate and cargo variants come with barn doors. A liftgate would block a forklift access.

    Tuning the TC

With regards from my former Kiss Bus
  10. So a plate is never issued without the existence of a specific car + owner it's stuck onto?
  11. Why do they need to ship the plates separately in a week, don't the DMV have stock just to hand them over to you right away? Minus the wanker plates, of course.
  12. The roof carries a lot more and there are heavy duty racks and baskets available, the limit is set this low to avoid people tipping their vans over when turning.
  13. I have a factory tow bar (swan neck) and I tow weekly (or twice a week) with my 10' light trailer (1000 lbs payload) no brakes. The trailer is actually very durable and takes twice the payload without a squeak. I once loaded too much sand on it and the axle looked to be sitting really close to the spring bumpers. I calculated the sand weight by volume afterwards and it was 4000 lbs! Sand is really tricky, never thought it was this heavy.
  14. Just wanted to suggest the source for the dual clutch information. Regarding the dual zone CC: this is normal UI, my two different Japanese vehicles act exactly the same, both also have "DUAL" button or just press "AUTO" to restore dual control from the driver side. Don't know about the Connect as mine has a manual dial A/C.
  15. Diesel models have a Powershift dual-clutch automatic.
  16. I would use Waze or *Maps and stop worrying. The built-ins are outdated anyway.
  17. You'll get used to to the quick clear wire grid. I've had those since my '96 Escort and loving every minute of it. The defogging power of this solution exceeds any blower and even works in very wet and damp conditions, not to mention de-icing (not relevant in your case).

    Oil

You really seem to like that Snapple, don't you :P

    Oil

You don't want metal shavings fixed in the oil filter. A magnetic oil drain plug works just fine. It gathers the junk in the very bottom of the oil pan and draining the oil will remove all loose metal particles. You can just wipe the plug clean and refit.
  20. No, the bottom red sections in the main tail light clusters.
