STAGEO
I was recently involved in a crash in my 2019 TC, a car lost control and drifted into my lane. We struck, my van went into a spin, hit the embankment and rolled into the ditch striking the treebank. The van was inverted. All airbags deployed, though my seatbelt came loose by itself. My wife was still tethered in her seat upside down. I unbuckled her and we were able to crawl into the cargo bay and out of one of the barn-doors that opened on impact. This van saved our lives. We walked away from the damage you see with superficial injury. Though I'm not thrilled about my seatbelt malfunction this shows how durable this vehicle is in a crash. The van is a total loss, but we're alive. windguy and PhotoAl
windguy
@stageo - Holy Crap Batman! WTF! Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you and your wife are okay. Man, that was a close one. I guess fortunate that you had that extra inside head clearance with the TC's tall roof. TC seems like it has a decent roll cage designed in. Wow! You're definitely going to need new wipers blades. Hope you stay with the TC and can find yourself a suitable replacement. Please keep us posted. Stay well! mrtn and STAGEO 1
STAGEO
Thanks for the well-wishes, and you bet the next van is going to be exactly that. Funny you mention the wiper blades, I was lamenting buying Trico Ice blades as they were causing the wipers to malfunction. mrtn and windguy 1
windguy
And yet with all that damage, the headlights are still on, even when dangling from the harness on the passenger side. Send those pics to Ford and thank them for saving your life. Good testimony for their engineers. You can also ask Ford if this is covered under their bumper-to-bumper warranty since the van is only two years old. Good luck!

It looks like you have some useable parts on that van. Now's the chance for forum members to hit you up for parts.
BSJBSJ
Glad everyone was all right! I'm curious about the sliding door "Window". Is that painted glass or what? Seeing the screen on a window without real glass seems kinda odd to me... Edited October 14, 2021 by BSJBSJ
G B L
Glad you folks are OK. It is always good to see the engineers are paying attention. You will have a test in this market to find the right TC . All the best.

Wonderful alternative to tinting.

Gideon
Recently totaled my 2016 XLT wagon. Not as bad as Stageo, but entire front was gone. Only driver's airbag deployed. Have managed to find a 2018 XLT wagon [loaded with options] with 173,000 km on odometer at decent price. Here in Canada, T-C wagons are very rare [even new ones] and cargo models hold their vaue very well too. Question: Can (dealer) program the 2018's BCM to "Dark Mode" as I had done on my old 2016 ?? Appreciate any help. THANKS
Don Ridley
You may be able to configure dark mode using Forscan. The only way to know is to try it on your vehicle. The BCM should have the appropriate firmware and Forscan recognizes dark mode on other vehicles according to the forums.

Gideon
Bought that 2018T-C (XLT). But now it had 175,000 Km. Seems someone at the dealer borrowed the van for a family trip. No problem as it 'proved' van was in good shape and reliable. Getting used to the electronic 'gizmos' (mostly). No problems starting in -10'C, and cabin heat comes on quickly. Will certainly appreciate the heated ext. mirrors and electric frt. and rr. windshield defrosters when freezing rain comes. Very comforting to know how solid/safe the T-C is. And with its lower center-of-gravity [compared to SUVs], it's less likely to flip over in mishaps. BTW, my nephew, who has a new Explorer, was amazed at all the storage 'cubbies' and space. And, as I let him drive it from Ottawa to my home ( 70 minutes +/-), he definitely liked the ride and handling. windguy
PhotoAl
Good to hear the TC held up well in both of those crashes. I looked at KBB a few days ago at the trade in value of my 2016 LWB Titanium - WOW. For about 15 seconds though about trading on a new one but I'd still have to spend $12 thousand. Decided to just keep my 2016 which is slowly creeping up on 28,000 miles! It mostly sits but is fantastic when I need to move something of haul several folks. Last January I bought a new Chevy Bolt Premier for $21,322 out the door and that is with no tax credits. List was over $44 and it was new. Couldn't believe how inexpensive they were and felt like it was the last time if not ever I would be able to get a new car that cheaply. It is perfect for those short trips when its just me or my wife and I. Have to drive the van every couple of weeks just to make sure it stays in good shape. LOL what got me started was an email from a Ford dealer in Huntsville AL, I followed and was looking around and they have a couple of TC. Both are $33,xxx XLTs and nicely equipped. I am tempted by the new Maverick, not a van but would be handy.
STAGEO
Update: Personally I wanted a new TC like nobody's business, but there were none to be had. When I bought her in 2019 there were so many on the lot we had to go to the overflow lot to find the one I had my eye on. Not so in 2020 or even 2021. Long story short we got us a Maverick instead to replace the van. Wife's happier, to be honest. That said I'm afraid I have to leave this little community but I want to thank you all for letting me be part of it and all the well-wishes, not to mention the plethora of good information in all the threads. Cheers.
G B L
Hey You don't have to leave, The Maverick has the all wheel drive we all want. Stay around and let us know how the Maverick turns out!
