Can I add OEM Cruise control to vehicle that came without it
Mikeeshaq replied to ang210's topic in 2015 Ford Transit Connect
Go to another Ford dealer, preferably larger Ask the service manage if they can add cruise control using OEM components This after market kit will be just fine until it conks out, then Ford service will say "we cannot fix it as it is not Ford" -
Can I add OEM Cruise control to vehicle that came without it
Mikeeshaq replied to ang210's topic in 2015 Ford Transit Connect
The after market version of the cruise control: Is that available from Ford? If yes then that would be the way to go I had a 2004 Focus wagon and they added the cruise control by the Ford dealership -
What went to the moon had less computing power than today's vehicles. I am an 'old school ' electronic technician and today's electronics (surface mount) simply is not repaired anymore, unless it is military hardware.

Thats right FREE Except I am in the the Houston area and I will NOT ship (do not even ask) They are in my garage If you want the seat belt mechanisms for the 3rd row seats, you will have to unbolt them yourself. Be sure to bring the usual socket set and Torx bits. You cannot damage the plastic panels in removing the mechanism. My vehicle is a 2015 LWB wagon E mail me at msircg at gmail dot com

Do not be surprised if you find out that you have to get the ECM programmed to accept the cruise control Of course you have to go to a Ford dealership that has invested perhaps up to $5000 for an ECM programmer Most important such a dealership needs to have a sharp technician -
Talk to service parts, have them contact Rotunda I had lockable roof bars on my Transit Connect and I wanted spare keys for the roof bar locks They contacted Rotunda and the reply was to go to Thule and I got spare keys. If that don't work then visit another dealer ship for their service/parts department

OEM Trailer Hitch - Gen 2 TC
Mikeeshaq replied to windguy's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
2015 Wagon I had the hitch installed by the dealer third party agent - I forgot the name One thing though, to get the spare tire out, a jack has to be put on to raise the ground clearance to slide the tire out The four bolts are loose and how the bolts are fitted, I thing long slender springs are screwed onto the bolts and the springs are threaded thru the hole, then the spring is removed and the nut screwed on while holding the bolt. The bolt head is completetly inaccessable -
Thule 3032 Foot Pack and 2015 Transit Wagon Do Not Work
Mikeeshaq replied to davidschap's topic in 2015 Ford Transit Connect
Now I am more confused than ever This year [maybe earlier] Ford has brought out the Transit , which is far larger than the Transit Connect The OP talks about 'Transit' does the OP mean the Transit Connect? -
Thule 3032 Foot Pack and 2015 Transit Wagon Do Not Work
Mikeeshaq replied to davidschap's topic in 2015 Ford Transit Connect
I viewed a video of installing 'threaded inserts' after first drilling out [enlarging] the holes and there was a drill stop on the drill so the drill would not touch the airbag stuff. Since yours is a wagon and not a van, what may be going on is that the van does not have top sided air bags mounted past the first row, where as the wagon has top sided air bags mounted in the second row as well owner of a 2015 LWB wagon previous owner of a 2010 TC -

For the 2014 and 2015 Transit Connect one HAS to go to the dealer to even get a 'dumb' key made. Having said that, lets talk about 'smart' keys TC 2010 to 2013 so long as you have two keys, a owner can program a third or fourth key. If you only have ONE key tough cruncies! it is to the dealer you go For the 2014 and 2015, one has to go to the dealer to get ANY key and only the dealer can program in anothe key. Even then the dealer has to go to Ford Rotundra to get more keys There are (is) locksmith(s) that can make 2010 to 2013 keys but EVERYBODY will demand proof of ownership and for the dealer the VIn number is required. Be aware that Ford only keeps VIN numbers for 10 years, that is you give them a VIN number and they can cut the key according to what the VIN information has -

Lucky me! I got four 'smart' keys with my 2015 TC wagon I then ordered two 'dumb keys One 'dumb' key is hidden on the outside somewhere one 'smart' key is hidden on the inside somewhere Lose my keys? no problem! Retreive the dumb key to unlock the doors, then retreive the smart key to get home ans one dumb key is used so when I go to the ocean ,I tie it on my pants and there is no transponder to get messed up by salt water -
Today I just had a Curt hitch installed by U Haul. They were hesitant to i nstall it as it is not a 'U HAul hitch' but I said that i could be charged extra. OK it took U Haul 30 minutes to install the thing. Only have to get a wire harness out of the way Unhook the muffler from the rubber 'donuts' and lower the spare tire The previous car took two hours to install that hitch

This is not an off the shelf item If you do not see it at McMaster-Carr then you need to fabricate them your self. Hint: why make them out of metal?

For the USA TC Fog lights are attached to a plastic/fiberglass piece that is bonded to to the rear of the front bumper [and Ford does not sell that piece] So for a 2010, one is 'out of luck' with going OEM that is

FORD, any news on possible diesel for USA? or at least a manual trans.
Mikeeshaq replied to odinthewanderer's topic in Diesel
Diesel??-- forget it! Think how many dealerships would have to train for diesel service. As it is now, if a mechanic can work on a Focus , that mechanic can work on a Transit Connect People come up to me and ask about my TC My reply: "It ain't a Hummer with loads of power and it ain't a Cadallac either, nice quiet ride Nor is it a tin can with four wheels that gets 40 mpg It is its own unique thing"
