  1. windguy, I am not suggesting to carlb28 he start to modify his wiring. From his posts, I do not think that is the way he wants to proced.
  2. Hello carlb28. I checked the wiring diagram I posted on another topic. Not that you need confirmation, but the rear cabin lighting is on a independent circuit from the front cabin and yes, the taxi package has a switch from the drivers position to control the rear cabin lighting.
  3. Here is the URL to the 2014 Transit Connect Body Builders Guide. It contains all the body specifications and wiring diagrams. I have found the 2010 guide very helpfull over the past years when adding non-Ford accessories, tracing wiring and making modifications. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/topics/2014/2014_Transit_Connect_v1-0.pdf
  4. windguy, the 2011-2013 Transit Connect taxi had a dash switch to turn on the rear cabin lights. I was in a NV200 taxi last weekend and the driver could turn on the rear cabin lights from the dash. The only help that info is to carlb28 is if the 2014-2015 Transit Connect taxi has a dash mounted rear cabin light switch (I would think so) and it could be installed in 2014-2015 non-taxi Transit Connects.
  5. One more suggestion to those 2014-2015 Transit Connect owners having heater problems. Log onto http://www.nhtsa.gov/Vehicle+Safety/Recalls+&+Defects , the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and file a complaint. This will get your problem in front of the government as well. Twitter and Facebook may help with Ford, having the issue posted on the government website cannot hurt.
  6. mrgone, please keep us updated on this issue. You did the right thing taking your van to another dealer. I hope other 2nd generation Transit Connect owners add their comments on any heating issues they have.
  7. Hello transcon. You must have missed my reply to your original posting on 12.26, There is no parking light relay. Power is turned on and off by the main light switch.
  8. Welcome dsmithnc. There are a few Ham's, myself included, on this forum. I just do not remember anyone of them building a desk for their rig's. I am sure if anyone did, they will reply. I am just running a 2 meter rig with the antenna mounted in the rear door.
  9. Hello transcon. There is no parking light relay. Power is turned on and off by the main light switch.
  10. Very strange. My first generation Transit Connect does not have the issue. When you use the switch in the overhead light between the sunvisors, it turns on both rear interior lights and the light between the sunvisors. When you open the door, all the interior lights come on.
  11. Hello ncranchero. Here is the URL for the fuel line recall, http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchResults?searchType=ID&targetCategory=R&searchCriteria.nhtsa_ids=14V708000&refurl=rss . You are one of the forums oldest members going back to 2010. Do you still have your 2010 Transit Connect? I would be interested in your opinion of the differences between the two.
  12. windguy, thanks for the wealth of information you have posted the last few days. Hang in there with waiting for you 2015. I would hate to loose you to another manufacturers forum!
  13. WASHINGTON — Ford is recalling 19,825 2014 Ford Transit Connect cargo vans in North America to reinstall the sliding door plastic panels, the automaker said on Thursday. There is a problem with "adhesion of an exterior plastic panel to the sliding doors," Ford said in a statement. "This issue may result in noise, a water leak, a loose panel or separation of the plastic panel from the vehicle while driving, potentially increasing the risk of an accident or injury." Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall. Affected vehicles are certain two-panel 2014 Transit Connect cargo vans built at the Valencia assembly plant from August 9, 2013 to September 20, 2014 and certain one-panel 2014 Transit Connect cargo vans, also built at Valencia assembly plant from August 9, 2013 to September 20, 2014. Ford dealers will remove and reinstall the sliding door plastic panels using proper materials and procedures, Ford said. The recall will begin the week of January 12. Owners can contact Ford customer service at (800) 392-3673. No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S Above information is from edmonds.com
  14. Hello gordow, my front power point is live at all times.
  15. Ack, does this look like your issue?? 2011 Ford Transit Connect Exterior Lighting Service Bulletin 358523NHTSA: Action Number: 10054348 Service Bulletin Number: 358523 Report Date: Sep 04, 2013 Component: Exterior Lighting Summary: Ford: where lamp and socket contact on front turn signal, there may be looseness, damage, or distortion to lamp socket, causing turn signal to be inoperative. Model 2010-2013 transit connect. *pe
  16. windguy, let's compare transmissions. 2010-2013 was a 4 speed automatic that had been around for many years. I think there was less than a handfull of transmission issues posted on this forum for the four years in Transit Connect service. 2014-2015 is a totally new transmission. More gears, more complexity, and more problems posted on this forum much earlier than the first generation Transit Connect. The rough shifting and seal leaks seem to be the two complaints most noted. We should all watch out for Technical Service Bulletins/Recalls and help out our 2014-2015 owners.
  17. Ack, I took a closer look at my turn signal lamp assembly. It has two blade contacts that engage in the socket in the headlamp assembly. What is the problem? Are the blade contacts in the signal lamp assembly missing/bent/broken? If so, the assembly is available on eBay for 27 dollars. If the contacts in the headlamp assembly are missing/bent/broken that is a more difficult problem to resolve. Let us know the specifics. I have an idea on how to fix the socket in the headlamp assembly, if that is the problem.
  18. Hello Ackerdackely. There is no flasher unit. The turn signals, and a dozen other funtions, are controled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). My left turn signal lamp also burned out. It is a 3357A/3457A. I do not remember the socket being anything special. At least not enough to cause a $450 repair! Is it time to try another Ford dealer?
  19. Hello Daedalus1,try this, it works on the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. Deactivating/activating perimeter lamps illuminated entry You may enable/disable this feature by having your vehicle serviced by your authorized dealer. You may also perform the following power door lock sequence to enable/disable the perimeter lamps feature. If the procedure needs to be repeated, wait a minimum of 30 seconds before beginning again. 1. Place the key in the ignition and turn the ignition to the 3 (RUN) position. 2. Press the power door unlock control on the door panel three times. 3. Turn the ignition from the 3 (RUN) position to the 1 (LOCK) position. 4. Press the power door unlock control on the door panel three times. 5. Turn the ignition back to the 3 (RUN) position. The horn will chirp one time to confirm programming mode has been entered and is active. 6. Press the power door unlock control twice within 5 seconds. Note: The horn will chirp once to indicate the perimeter lighting feature has been deactivated. The horn will chirp once and honk once (one short and one long) to indicate the perimeter lighting feature has been activated. 7. Turn the ignition to the 1 (LOCK) position to exit the procedure. Note: The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete. Let us know.
  20. No problem windguy, done. Nice posts. I am sure we will read even more when you finally get your 2015!!
  21. Two recalls affect Ford Transit Connect vehicles. In the first, 25,597 of the 2014 models are being recalled because the fuel and vapor lines may be incorrectly routed, which could cause a fuel leak and lead to a fire. The second one affects 92 of the 2015 models because the bracket that holds the fuel filter to the vehicle frame may become detached over time, resulting in knocking sounds or an engine stall, which could increase the risk of a crash. In the first Transit Connect recall, dealers will inspect the lines and reroute and replace them as needed, Ford said. In the second one, dealers will reinforce the underbody structure if necessary.
  22. mrdavies, if the climate control assembly has one connector the feeds voltage to all three controls, it could be loose or fallen off. I have never seen the back of the assembly, so it is just a guess.
