  1. On the newer models, the wipers can be reset through the body control module. A little computer programming.
  2. Never what they sell you on at franchise trade shows. Franchise concept makes great money for corporate. The franchisee has to buy everything from corporate. Look at McDonalds. You buy the entire restaurant from the corporate office. Then everything, from cleaning chemicals, to napkins, to little ketchup packets, to the employee uniforms.....are ordered from corporate. Yet, people do it. I think the worst arrangements are things like Amazon and FedEx delivery routes. But that only shows my ignorance. There are probably people who lose a lot more with Merry Maids. Probably tons of other franchise opportunities which don't work out as well either.
  3. So you had the van front up in the air, instead of level?
  4. I still go to a tire shop to use their equipment. Most tire shops have a pump available for customers. I know it doesn't make a difference, but they have nitrogen. The tire shop machine is easy to set the PSI, then stops at the PSI. I don't have to pump, then check, then let air out, then check again, then pump some more....... I'm too lazy to set up my air compressor, turn it on, wait for it to air up and build up pressure, then release the air pressure and put it away with the accessories. I'm just lazy. According to my records, I bought that little device 2 years ago. It still works. I've gotten my money's worth.
  5. I bought that thing a few years ago. Now there's a listing for 2 units, at the same price. "turn the key to 'on', then press the hazard lamp switch 6 times" on-off-on-off-on-off....... I just did it this afternoon. I rotated the tires, and had to reset the TPMS. It allows me to use FORScan to read the PSI in each tire.
  6. The cheap trigger tools work fine.

    I'm New Here

With any luck, you might find some helpful people when you have a question. Good to have you aboard.
  8. That's business. I could sell the best burgers. Made with the best beef and only fresh ingredients. And make pretty good money. Or I open a McDonald's franchise, sell Big Macs, and make twice as much. The value in paying the franchise fee. Volume from a recognized name, nationwide ad campaigns, and you get everything supplied by the chain at a much lower price. If you could make $1,000,000 on your own, would you pay 10% off the top to make $2,000,000?
  9. I replaced my 97 Explorer with the Transit Connect. A lot of give & take. Apples to oranges. The 97 had a 5.0 engine and All Wheel Drive. It was a completely different car than the modern Explorer.
  10. You'll find out when you lock your keys in the car. On the bottom. It allows all the fluid to drain. That's the position on the Gen 2 transmission. Problem is that you need to have the car on a lift, or jacked up on 4 jack stands. You could put it in the rear, closer to the passenger. Then you jack up the front tire on the driver side, and in theory. all the fluid will go to that corner. But I would put it on the bottom.
  11. You could go cheap and simple. Battery to a circuit breaker, to a small fuse block. A 50A circuit breaker will be fine for a small block supplying 10A to 20A accessories.
  12. Look inside of the driver side door jamb and under the hood. Look for the stickers. Most of what you need to know will be there.
  13. It doesn't matter. You have a used car over 10 years old. You will not be able to race it. Keep it maintained. You are saving money.
  14. In case rallybag is still paying attention....... most race car builders upgrade the cooling system because they have upgraded performance engines. Follow the flow. Start with a lower temperature thermostat. Some engines will delete the pulley driven water pump and replace it with an electric water pump. Backing the custom radiator are high CFM electric fans set to operate at different temperatures, with seperate thermostatic switches taking readings from the inlet and the outlet of the radiator. Depending on what you're building the car for, you need to take other metrics into consideration. If you're only running 1/4 mile, and you're looking to cover it in less than 9 seconds at over 200 mph.......how are you going to do that in a Transit Connect?
  15. Install one. Buy a fuse panel install kit, run a wire from the battery, and mount it in the same place. P/N 30004 Weatherproof Universal Style Pre-Wired 20 Circuit Fuse Block
  16. Oh no. Now your entire door is going to fly off.
  17. When it rains heavy, I've seen the same thing. Your 3 year bumper to bumper warranty is expired. Dealership will charge you for bringing van in, taking apart the headliner, to look for the leak. Then they will quote you for repairs. On a Transit Connect, water can leak at the plastic caps. Those little black caps are not waterproof. You can order a new set of plastic plug caps. Or just lift off the existing caps. Apply a ring of silicone around the hole, and reset the caps or install new caps. If you look at the channel, the roof panel and the body meet. There's a seam. Water could leak from anywhere on along the seam which runs front to back. You can try to seal off the seam with silicone. Apply silicone along the length of the seam. Try to clean off excess while pushing the silicone into the crevice with a plastic tool. The antenna is possible. The antenna is suppose to be sealed by compression. Reach up and check it. Is it loose? Tighten it down. You can remove the antenna, apply silicone around the hole, and re-install the antenna. On some cars, there is a drain tube which allows water between the roof and headliner to drain. It usually runs down the "a pillar". Those are known to clog. Solutions can be to replace the tube, or blow it out with compressed air. As for the windshield...... the best thing to do is remove the windshield, then reinstall with a new gasket. Some shops use a generic gasket seal maker.
  18. Why did you use an outlet? Waterproof receptacle plugs are available. Then you could use the standard cords without having to make a cord with 2 plug ends.
  19. A kit like this one will set up your dashcam, and future upgrades.
  20. It looks like something that you can build and customize. All that you need is the panel, which can be made to order. Is there a Tap store in your area? You could draw a rough sketch, give them the dimensions, and they can custom cut a piece of plastic with all the holes cut to correct size. Tap made the cover plate for my USB ports. I recall that it was less than $20. You can also order USB ports with the volt meter gauge built into it. Low voltage toggle switches like that are very inexpensive. You can get those in bulk. Or consider getting heavy duty switches, depending on what you intend to use them for. I'm only guessing, but I'm guessing that you would know how to wire in series or run parallel circuits as needed.
  21. I guess I'm not the only person to install USB ports. Looks like this guy bought them from Amazon also.
