2014 TC Rear Wiper Not Working
Fifty150 replied to Beta Don's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
Good for you, Don. I'm glad that you didn't have to pay a diagnostic fee. Sorry that you're getting bad service from your dealership. I noticed a bunch of Highway Patrol Explorer/Interceptors at the dealership. I saw one on a lift. Me, being me, walked into the shop, pulled out a StreamLight, and started inspecting the car. The transmission and front suspension were removed. Parts were everywhere. Tech comes over, and without me asking, volunteers that the power steering unit, rack & pinion suspension parts, and the transmission was out. The pursuit package engine is putting out a lot of power, and the other parts are wearing out faster because of it. Apparently, they're not having the same issues with regular civilian cars. But cops are always pushing the pedal hard, driving off the pavement, hopping curbs, and hanging corners. But wait, it's a SUV, isn't that what 4X4 & AWD are meant to do? Sure. But nobody hops curbs, drives over medians, drives over unpaved uneven surfaces, in and out of ditches; all at high speeds and 24 hours around the clock. Not to mention all the wide open throttle driving, and left foot braking. Although you'll be fine, since your car is only driven as a commute vehicle, not severe service. -
Running heavy fife wire from battery to caro area

A simple solution is to find a space which is easy to access from outside and inside of the vehicle, then drill a hole. Be sure to use a rubber grommet, then fill in the gap with silicone. -
I would get a long wheelbase wagon. Remove the two rear jumpseats. And install a fold-down ramp and whatever tie-down system that you need to secure the chair and prevent it from moving. In the old days, we simply loaded the person into the vehicle, then folded up the chair and stored it.

When all else fails, call. Call the shop directly, and ask them. People work there. There will be someone, whose job it is to answer calls, listen to whatever you've got to say, and screen your call to make sure that you're not a nut......if your idea is viable, you will get feedback. Especially since you already have about 50% of your build thought out, and a working budget. You're not just someone with an impossible delusion, without a plan, without a budget, and without a clue. -
Once you start stacking spacers, your handling and alignment won't be the same. Having owned trucks and Jeeps, I've used "leveling kit" spacers, adjustable struts, cheap lift kits with spacers, and full lift kits with reengineered suspension parts. I'm not an expert, but I like suspension lifts the best. They are obviously more expensive......upfront. However the budget friendly lift options, which are typically spacers of some sort, create undue stress upon other OEM suspension and steering components, and will cost you more in repairs down the road. A spacer may create more room for bigger tires, but you will need to consider re-speccing the wheel and tire combination so that you can actually turn the vehicle without rubbing. Your wheel height, width, backspace......will all be different.

Interior mounted bike rack
Fifty150 replied to Don Ridley's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Ah, so you're taking the front wheel off the bike. I guess if someone is willing to take off the front wheel, they could just as easily take off the back whee. Then transporting the bikes would be a piece of cake. A hitch receiver mounted bike rack has always been my preferred method. On some vehicles, you can also get a front hitch receiver in case you've already got a boat on the rear. -
This looks like an interesting option for drilling into the bumper.

Sounds like you should pitch the swap out to guys with TV shows. Chip Foose or maybe Gas Monkey Garage. Seriously. You might be able to get a lot more help with a build like this, and they'll be able to film it all for their shows. You might even be able to get the cable channel to help defer some of the cost into their production budget. You never know. At the very least, it might get Foose interested in building a "Foose Edition" van. They have done a lot of crazy things on those TV shows. Like taking the EcoBoost out of a pickup truck and swapping it into a Pantera. -

On my XL, there is a full headliner, 4 power windows, and A/C vents in all 3 rows + 2nd row climate control. It was in the 90's today. Shorts & tank top weather. Yet, I still saw people wearing jackets. Some things in life, I have to accept even without being able to understand. It's like a busy restaurant, even though the food is bad, the service is bad, and the bathrooms are dirty. -
Dirtbag way to add another power point
Fifty150 replied to rmcinak's topic in Accessories and Modifications
My 2016 doesn't even have a backup sensor or tow package. Same AM/FM and "screen delete option". My sunglasses fit there. It appears that the aftermarket dash kit for upfitting head units all have a hole for the screen, and do not have an opening to accommodate my "airbag on/off" indicator light. A head unit upgrade may be in my future. Although, I don't know why. A new stereo is not going to offer me much. -

I accept that at this price point, the vehicle was not engineered for comfort. Simple utility. It gets the job done. You get used to a lot less when you're driving in trucks. I still see trucks on the road with vent hatches and fans on the dashboard. A commercial driver on the road all day, without air conditioning.
