Once you start stacking spacers, your handling and alignment won't be the same. Having owned trucks and Jeeps, I've used "leveling kit" spacers, adjustable struts, cheap lift kits with spacers, and full lift kits with reengineered suspension parts. I'm not an expert, but I like suspension lifts the best. They are obviously more expensive......upfront. However the budget friendly lift options, which are typically spacers of some sort, create undue stress upon other OEM suspension and steering components, and will cost you more in repairs down the road. A spacer may create more room for bigger tires, but you will need to consider re-speccing the wheel and tire combination so that you can actually turn the vehicle without rubbing. Your wheel height, width, backspace......will all be different.

Interior mounted bike rack
Fifty150 replied to Don Ridley's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Ah, so you're taking the front wheel off the bike. I guess if someone is willing to take off the front wheel, they could just as easily take off the back whee. Then transporting the bikes would be a piece of cake. A hitch receiver mounted bike rack has always been my preferred method. On some vehicles, you can also get a front hitch receiver in case you've already got a boat on the rear. -
This looks like an interesting option for drilling into the bumper.

2014+ TC Manual Conversion
Fifty150 replied to dotmaster206's topic in Accessories and Modifications
Sounds like you should pitch the swap out to guys with TV shows. Chip Foose or maybe Gas Monkey Garage. Seriously. You might be able to get a lot more help with a build like this, and they'll be able to film it all for their shows. You might even be able to get the cable channel to help defer some of the cost into their production budget. You never know. At the very least, it might get Foose interested in building a "Foose Edition" van. They have done a lot of crazy things on those TV shows. Like taking the EcoBoost out of a pickup truck and swapping it into a Pantera. -

After-Purchase Report

On my XL, there is a full headliner, 4 power windows, and A/C vents in all 3 rows + 2nd row climate control. It was in the 90's today. Shorts & tank top weather. Yet, I still saw people wearing jackets. Some things in life, I have to accept even without being able to understand. It's like a busy restaurant, even though the food is bad, the service is bad, and the bathrooms are dirty. -
Dirtbag way to add another power point
Fifty150 replied to rmcinak's topic in Accessories and Modifications
My 2016 doesn't even have a backup sensor or tow package. Same AM/FM and "screen delete option". My sunglasses fit there. It appears that the aftermarket dash kit for upfitting head units all have a hole for the screen, and do not have an opening to accommodate my "airbag on/off" indicator light. A head unit upgrade may be in my future. Although, I don't know why. A new stereo is not going to offer me much. -

I accept that at this price point, the vehicle was not engineered for comfort. Simple utility. It gets the job done. You get used to a lot less when you're driving in trucks. I still see trucks on the road with vent hatches and fans on the dashboard. A commercial driver on the road all day, without air conditioning. -
Puerto Rico, Guam, Micronesia, American Samoa, Virgin Islands, Marianas.....none of them are states. Actually, neither is The District of Columbia, as in Washington D.C. US Territory just means that we are jerks who tell them what to do. A bully. Like a stepson who you don't care about, but you still give him an allowance.

http://www.edmunds.com/about/press/hawaii-and-california-most-expensive-states-to-own-a-car-while-new-hampshire-and-south-dakota-least-expensive-according-to-edmundscom.html SANTA MONICA, Calif. — May 4, 2010 — A study by Edmunds.com, the premier resource for automotive information, shows that owning a vehicle in Alaska, California or Hawaii over a five-year period is about $10,000 more expensive than owning the same vehicle in New Hampshire, South Dakota or South Carolina for the same duration.

On The Islands, everything has to be imported. As you can well imagine, anything locally produced is scarce, in high demand, and often cost more than something shipped or flown over. Even the worst coffee from some Central American "banana republic" is expensive. But the local Kona will still demand a higher price point than what came off the back of Juan Valdez's mule. Everything is a commodity. Even wives. But female companionship is another conversation entirely. That's why I'm back on The MainLand, and driving a Panty Wagon.

It's amazing how far we have come in terms of effective technology and price point. It's now affordable. When wireless OBD II devices were first offered, the starting price was around $99 USD.

SWB CONNECT 2014 Demo Vehicle

That "city bar" under the front bumper looks interesting. -
I haven't seen anything in the aftermarket that was specifically made for this vehicle. So if you're looking to replace the entire headlight unit, you may be out of luck. The only thing that I see are plug & play H!! lamps. Those are simple enough. Only problem, as stated prior, is that you are now placing a HID or LED H11 into a headlight unit with reflectors designed for halogen. With the LED, the first noticeable difference is that they are bright when you look at them. They will put out a very bright light. So if you want everyone to look your way because you have very bright lights, then you will be happy. The area immediately in front of your car will be lit very well. Only problem is that the halogen reflectors will not "throw" the light down the road the way you want them to. Satisfy your curiosity. Install a plug & play kit. Report back on how you liked it. Post some photos. Your results may be satisfactory for your application. You may like it. Although yellowish, halogen lamps work best in OEM applications, unless you are able to find a complete replacement projector headlight unit. I was satisfied with the LED drop in kit on my F-150. With the high beam and low beams on, there is no need for off road lighting. Granted, when I'm driving on highways at night, they are already lit, and in my area, overhead street lights are LED also. In an off road environment, I'm not going very fast, it''s completely dark due to lack of overhead street lighting, and I only need to see my immediate area, as opposed to 100 yards down the road.

TracRac Installation on TC Wagon
Fifty150 replied to AXN-RXN's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
I am afraid that carrying lumber happens to be the shortcoming of a little "city van". I almost think that the engineers designed it that way to prevent overloading. If they made the an able to accommodate a piece of plywood, which they easily could have, then it would almost be about the size of an Econoline. Sure, the vehicle will only be a few inches wider and longer. And I guess in Europe, where these were first sold, there just isn't the same desire to carry American building materials. Is plywood & sheetrock even the same 4' X 8' size in Europe or Asia? I don't know, because I've never bought building materials in Europe or Asia. How do all the Japanese go to their version of Home Depot in those little Tacoma trucks? The idea was to make the van smaller, for people who did not want such a large vehicle. And as we all know, if it could fit, people will fill it. Can you imagine that many pieces of stacked plywood or sheetrock and what it would weigh? I can see it now. Somebody will try to stack 40 pieces inside the van, and 10 more on the roof rack.- 9 replies

My, we have come a long way. I also have a dash mounted ScanGauge II. Did that about 10 years ago, when it seemed like only dealerships had access to real time information via proprietary software on laptops. Then I got my hands on a SCTFlash LiveWire. That mounted onto the dash of another car. Next thing you know, smaller laptops and netbooks were on the market, and at a much lower price point. Before you knew it, everyone was walking around with a laptop. I was driving around with a laptop mounted in my car. There was now a USB cable that connected to OBD II. Today, you can get cheap Android tablets, and download free apps. The OBD II can now be accessed via Bluetooth for less than $10. I just saw one on eBay for $3.58 USD. 31 viewed per day ELM327 OBD2 II Bluetooth Auto Car OBD2 Diagnostic Interface Scanner Tool DS Quantity: More than 10 available $3.58 + Free Shipping Buy It Now View Details Condition: New Popularity: 94 sold Sold by: shallwe-dream (11846) 99.1% Positive feedback Delivery: Estimated Oct. 26- Dec. 1 From:Hong Kong Returns: 30 days Covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee When you're going 80 MPH, and you take your foot off the pedal and/or step on the clutch and shift into neutral to drift downhill, you will see 99 MPG.

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

I wonder what that will cost us. As taxpayers, we will surely be paying for the administration of the program. And as car buyers, we sill surely see that fee as a line item, in the fine print, of the super long contract form. -
TracRac Installation on TC Wagon

The only way those plugs and oval holes can make any sense at all, is if they were designed for some OEM oval shaped mounting system. And they're not. You can't even get an OEM rubber cap to use as a grommet to run wiring through. The only thing that those oval cutouts are good for.....well, at least they line up.- 9 replies
