Willygee
2016 Transit connect. Hot here in Central Florida ..have the air conditioner on recirculation almost 100% of the time. Don't mind spending the money on premium. Any recommendations?
Gideon
Welcome to "global warming". I doubt there's much, if anything, that you can do other than get a couple 12V fans. Old Land Rovers used to have a spaced second roof to reflect sun's heat and keep it from 'broiling' the vehicle.
jrm223
Ceramic tint keeps the interior around 40*F cooler and essentially works 24x7. In comparison, black versus white paint only makes about a 6-7°F difference inside the vehicle (with a time limit because eventually they hit a plateau of equal temperature, all else being equal) - most people attempting to argue color difference use an IR non-contact thermometer on the outside in an attempt to prove their point, which is irrelevant and shows their ignorance. You can install a rooftop air conditioning unit. Mercedes Sprinters used for touring and camping have them. It would make the van look like you are delivering fish. But you will be comfortable. I'll have to see what other people say, I've never replaced the one in my '15 TC with nearly 140K miles now. Granted, I could probably count the times I've used the A/C on just one - maybe two - hands! But it's making that weird noise that I've seen some others mention, so I know there's some cleaning & likely new filter needed.
JackGrimshaw
Cabin air filter should be checked periodically. Many(including myself) have found evidence of mice. https://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/8863-solution-blower-fan-noise-dash-vibration-and-mice/ Edited July 28, 2021 by JackGrimshaw
Don Ridley
Using the recirculation setting on the AC produces colder air because the inside air is cooler than the outside air. The air filter does restrict the flow of outside air but that's not why it is less effective at cooling the cabin. The TC air conditioner is undersized in my opinion. Here in the hot Fla weather AC cools down hot interior quickly (on high for a few minutes) and maintains temp nicely after that usually on 1st or 2nd speed. All this on recirculation mode. Vehicle is a white cargo no window xlt 2016 which probably helps.
