Finally 2014 Camper finished
Double Nickels replied to Bigfoot's topic in Transit Connect Member Custom Builds
Transit Connect, Focus, and Escape have similar platform. It would be like building a Transit Connect body onto the Escape. Or swapping Escape drivetrain parts into a Transit Connect. Anyone up for a challenge? -
How do you plan on adding the transmission cooler?
-
Good work. For me, since I don't have a service manual, can you share photos?

2015 rubber strips on sliding doors?

Should be a warranty item. Check yours while still under 3 year bumper to bumper. -
A real bro truck

Cornucopia of problems. I need therapy.
Double Nickels replied to k9-design's topic in Powertrain Tech
I bought Autolite. With $3 rebate, the price is about $1. -
Bought gas and noticed cars in front of me had this problem. Person on left decided to stand there holding the pump. Person on the right called for help. Gas attendant stood there and pumped the gas. I position the hose against the pump, so that it doesn't move, and it holds the pump nozzle in position. Hope that helps.

Fine print also advises not to lift all four tires, or 2 tires on the same side. Also not to use other lifting device. More to consider.

Ground Clearance
Double Nickels replied to Scrappy_TC's topic in Transit Connect Member Custom Builds
It's got ground clearance like a car. Fine if you want to drive into civilian camp grounds. I would not go on any 4 wheel drive trails. Best car I've ever owned. -
Ground Clearance

Disabled transportation companies have successfully modified suspension in minivans. I would look in that direction first. Then you can fit new tires. -
Confirmed. Does not fit. Store manager brought it out to the parking lot. It could not slide up to the front tire. She was hesitant at first. Until I pointed out that I could buy it, and if it doesn't fit, return it; which would be a bigger hassle for her. "Are you going to buy it if it does work?". Of course. That's why I drove here with a coupon in hand. The plastic Harbor Freight ramp looks just like the Flotool. Probably the same. I will consider price, and warranty before I buy.

Has anyone figured out where to disconnect the transmission line for a DIY driveway flush?
-
Transmission fluid is darker than the motor oil. TC definitely needs to be serviced. I would not do just a single drain & fill. I will drain and fill 3 times on mine.
-
I hear that modern engines, transmissions, and fluids are designed for higher temps. In the old days, they said 190 degree Fahrenheit. OEM thermostat opens at 190. Transmission cooler bypass valves close at 190. I don't know how accurate it is, but I hear the number 212 degree Fahrenheit, 100 degree Celsius, a lot these days.

.....and you got the divider screen, rack, lock box, and fire extinguisher

Range left when low fuel light comes on
Double Nickels replied to Almo's topic in 2002-2013 Ford Transit Connect
My display showed 17 miles left. When I filled up, there was still about 2 gallons in the tank. -
Mine works fine. Just put it in the right way.

Looking for some guidance for a Ford Transit van purchase
Double Nickels replied to MarveJo's topic in Welcome!
The long wheel base either has all the seats, or 2 seats. It sounds like you need a wagon. Transit Connect is more like a car. Transit is a lot larger. Go see what your dealership has in stock. -
Thanks for this. Every little bit helps with Forscan.
-
There will not be a recall for that. Ford may have to redesign new cars. Maybe pay a fine. We will have to stand there holding the pump handle. I doubt if CA is doing away with the boot.

I wonder who makes Bosch oil filters. I just ordered some Work Shop model.
-
The ATF is almost black. Should have sent that for analysis.
-
Awesome photo. That really helps.

It looks like the 6 speed tranny runs a little hotter than cars from the old days. I remember those old charts that said transmission temp is optimal at 180. I guess modern ATF is also made for higher temps.
