I got a hook, and last I checked Michigan was still part of the States ... (We DO keep a close eye out for Canadian infiltrators preparing for the invasion though ... <G>)

Top 5 Things About Your Transit Connect

I'll show you mine if you show me yours ... <G> ... and yes ... that all squeezes into a 4x8 foot box, including the furniture and most of the camping gear! It's magic! -

I've got a small chemical toilet that works in a pinch ... set it on top of the cooler, and it's even a good working height. PS ... if you go to grab a beer from the cooler and come back with a handful of brown, chances are good it's not ice cream ... ;-} -

You asked for it, you got it ... -
Went with Plan B here and added windows. Surprisingly good visibility considering their size. Certainly a BIG improvement over the original solid doors.

Yet Another 2011 Connect Conversion

Keep forgetting there's a time limit on editing posts here ... (mutter mumble) ... Rainy day, so playing with photoshop. Here's the "short bed" I was talking about. Back wall is the kitchenette in the passenger side door with one side rail for the slider built in, and not shown is the fold down section for the foot area of the bed once I'm more or less settled in. The slide out with the handles is the seating area, and the front rail would slide all the way to the front and lock in place with two legs for support. -
Yet Another 2011 Connect Conversion

Thanx for the video - I downloaded that one some time back and kinda forgot about it, but in review, it's got some killer features to it. I do like the kitchen in the door, and I've seen some that are made to swing out for outdoor cooking and such. Also playing with the idea of the bed extension. I'm thinking the setup shown in the video you posted would be kinda complicated with one leg. Instead, just have the extension slide out to seat length, then have another section that would fold down from the front to fill the gap after I'm on the partially assembled bed. That front section wouldn't need a lot of strength as it would only be supporting my feet, so I could even go with some sort of lattice or web type arrangement to hold the mattress section. Fold that down when it's time to sleep, move the cushion(s) there, remove and stash my custom body parts ? and nighty night. ** Project did get derailed this summer as I ended up having some followup surgery, but I'm back at it, slowly but surly. So far, mostly still thinking and collecting parts, but I did make templates for the storage area that fit into the contours of the van nicely. Transfer those to plywood shortly and get a good idea where I'm going here. I DO want to keep an open shelf even with the height of the new windows for visibilty - be nice for stuff I want handy while camping that would be otherwise stored when rolling. -
I suppose something like DynaMat would do the job, but that would involve dropping the liner and rolling it directly to the metal. Or, you could just move to the desert ... <G>

Tapered lug nuts are the way to go if you use anything other than the exact match wheels. Those should help center the slight difference in the Saab spacing pattern.
-
Not sure I'd want to depend on any part with "wobble" in the description, eh. Remember the "uni-lug" aftermarket wheels? Used slots instead of holes so they'd fit a lot of different patterns, but wouldn't fit any of them right. The better ones had larger cutouts that would fit various adapters that were drilled for specific patterns, and those were actually a decent fit.

best way to get a side window for sliding door?

You'd need the entire glue in panel as well, right? -

Surprisingly good visibility too, considering their size. Certainly better than a solid metal panel. PS ... was thinking about adding a couple old school portholes in the back side panels as well, but that'd be just crazy ... AhhhAHHAHHAHHAHHAhhahhaaaaa!!! -

I cheated ... <G> -
I'd also be interested in knowing whether the stock harness already has the connectors built in to simplify installation. Seems to me there's a fog lamp position on the standard lighting switch ...
-
Don't forget the power mirrors and remote locks. I'd also think about adding the proximity sensor if you rip into the rear bumper. I suppose a lot would depend on whether Ford in their infinite wisdom used a universal wiring loom for both. Shouldn't be that difficult if all the connections are already there.

If I read that right, the cylinder needs to be removed to enable the theft using that technique, so maybe one of these would do the job, assuming they can come up with one that has the same offset from the door edge. Looks to be available from the same source.

Turn-key camping conversion

Mine has a stove and an ice chest ... <G> -
Mine are quiet ... First thing I'd maybe do is goop all the seals with NAPA SilGlyde. That restores them and will give you a better seal. Sometimes it's the little things ...

Could be cv's, brakes, bearings, etc ... Maybe some more info. This noise happen rolling straight, at certain speeds, during breaking, when turning?

Another fan of PlastiDip. Stuff is way more durable than you'd think and you can get a real nice finish with it with a bit of practice. I always use that for painting my wheels and such. Easy to peel off and change colors if you want to go with something different too. Also works on tail lights - don't like em, paint em! I've seen a few YT videos showing how to tint lights using one coat of black and a couple or three coats of clear ...

Top 5 Things About Your Transit Connect
sKiZo replied to OLDSCHOOLFOOL's topic in Lounge Transit Connect
Started out as a 2011 TLC Cargo. Came with a trade package with shelves and cargo area screen. I stripped all that out, then had the top popped up and added the windows. Plan is to add either a fan or AC on the roof, and I'll be building some custom cabinets and convertible couch/bed to turn it into an overnite camper. Also gotta figure out how to pull the cargo floor - I understand there's a recess between the side doors where the stock seats mount up, and I wouldn't mind the extra headroom. Looks to be a simple bolt in, but of course, the first bolt I tried was just spinning in the recess ... Top five? Mostly stuff I changed ... - rear windows actually give me a lot more vision than you might think. - WeatherTech front window deflectors - Upgraded sound system w/GPS and media playback, four speakers and boomer Add a nice ride and plenty of pep to cover the bases. Oh. And it came with a one year drive train warranty. -
