  1. I'm 'over driving' my low beams at 45 mph. Crazy bad. while the highs seem very good. Anything to be done?
  2. That looks great. But not very functional. ?
  3. Sway bar for body roll, but heavier sway bar with less roll means more transfer of the load to the tires, meaning earlier loss of traction at the limit. Leaning on the suspension actually gives you MORE traction in corning. At the point the suspension stops extending (leaning), the load transfers to the tire side walls and when those flex as much as they can, the tire loses traction suddendly and decisively. Meaning it feels better in normal driving but if you ever are in a max cornering situation (too fast into a turn) your absolute limits are reduced. The first time I put bigger, "handling" sway bars on a VW GTI I had made it into an absolute go-cart on the road. Felt like you were velcro'd to the road. But the first time i cornered fast, on a reducing radius turn I completely spun out as the tires broke loose considerably earlier than it did before the sway bars. No free lunches with physics.
  4. But with todays hard metallic pads, if you drive them like hybrids (I have one) you'll just glaze the pads badly in short order on lots of cars. Need to brake harder and shorter than the old soft asbestos pads with non hybrids to get decent braking performance and normal wear.
  5. what about the ABS and other assiociated electronics? Would the extra clamping force mess with the settings or do they just respond instantaneously to the locking or not locking state? They don't seem over-braked for sure and I seem to see a lot of very early brake jobs being done. Granted some people are hauling weight, but some aren't and still sub 20k brake jobs? hmmmm IF there are no repercussions to the swap, I'd be looking at that for sure at some point.
  6. Cargo van, so never any rear passengers. I know they add "fill" sound, but I don't think you hear much from the rears in a normal car setup. If you do, do they go in the rear sliding door or back doors?
  7. If cell phone is plugged into a head unit with graphic display and you use a Nav program does the head unit display show the map or just the voice prompts when they happen? (as I imagine).
  8. So you have the factory back up camera already. If I don't and I install that same head unit and a backup camera with the "normal" wiring harness to do so, do you know if the backup display will be the stocker or the head unit? Doens't matter, just curious. Thanks!
  9. In the pic with the new stereo installed the small oem screen shows the time. Is that a "default" end result when a touch screen is installed with the proper wiring or did that take "custom work" to make that happen? I'd like to replace mine but didn't want the oem screen to be dead. Thanks
  10. you adjust the main mirror so it shows just a little slice of your vehicle in the mirror (gives a visual boundry) and the mirror shows the lane to the left of the driver. the blind spot then shows an even wider angle that shows further out and fills the blind spot perfectly.
  11. I'd like to replace my stereo head unit and get something that will let me add a backup camera. Any new/better options out in 2017?
  12. The problem is the 4 cyl all in a row. The motors you love the sound of are all V motors (best) or inline muliti cyl. the cylinders firing in the order they do creates the great sound in the same way a motorcycle V twin engine (Harley and others) give that great "thump thump" to the sound and feel. You can't replicate that with a muffler choice unfortunately, as so many of us have learned over the years. You can get a fairly nice "thrummmming" sound from a normal compression 4 cyl, but not that meaty blare of a V8.
  13. Or there are those that understand some basics of gearing and don't get the vapors about going up a size of tire! Who said anything about "major change"? Geez.........
  14. Yes, too bad, I'd have been interested. Guessing he posted similar in other vehicle forums.
  15. The oem wheels will be on in winter so I want to have sensors for both. I've played with gearing and wheels a LOT over the years and relatively small changes can even be advantageous if you look at the circumstances of your individual driving. I live in the flatest of flat midwest, drive slowly and dont' carry any loads or plan to tow with it. I'm sure I could be geared considerably higher than someone that doesn't share ALL those attributes and never notice it.
  16. Any rubbing issues? Over speed bumps? Have you figured how much the speedo is off? I just bought 18's and I'd love to get taller sidewalls like that.
  17. Hi, just bought a leftover 2016 XLT cargo van to get wrapped and be my delivery vehicle. Thrilled with how it drives and the deal I got ($8400 off sticker). Bought some sweet 18x8" Fusion wheels that I want to get summer tires on. Is 215/45/18 the closest to stock specs? I know i want to stay close to stock diameter to not mess up some specs (abs or just the odometer?) but can I get slightly taller sidewalls for more protection and a bit more cush with the bigger wheels without messing anything important up? I don't consider the speedo reading being off a real problem. Where is the best place to buy the set of sensors I need? Any brand to avoid? Thanks!

  19. 2016 cargo - I'd like to get glass in the passenger side sliding door. Can I find an opening window to have installed or just flat fixed panel? I'm realizing how hot this is going to be without any air flow front to rear and no sunroof to open to vent hot air. AC will take forever to cool it down once it's 90. Does anyone make an opening 'porthole' type window that could mount cleanly in the rear for airflow? Thanks!
  20. Short answer, no. When i've had hitch haulers in the past, all the recommendations are that you cut the tongue weight capacity in HALF if you are suspending the weight behind the vehicle as this does. My very heavy duty VW Touareg has a 750lb tongue weight capacity (very hight) and It sags as far as I am comfortable with my 300lb dirt bike on it. Now way in HELL is a TC heavy enough. 2000 TOW capacity means maybe 250lb tongue capacity (weight on the hitch ball), which means 125lbs suspended............
  21. Van or Wagon? The cargo van I bought was noticablely stiffer and tighter than the wagons I test drove.
