I'd like to know if those side slider door windows are any good. -
After-Market Sliding Windows
MLB replied to Miami-Ace's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
2 of the pics show a window replacing the entire opening where the plastic panel was. But the last photo shows it cut to the shape of the framework inside like the wagens would have. ?????? -
if you are converting to a camper you'll be adding many hundreds of pounds in equipment and travel gear. Trust that you'll have a much cushier ride when you're ready to hit the road. ? Hint: Install Timbrens
-
Nice! In looking at their choices the narrowest opening listed for the clamping frame is 3/4" Our little plastic panel sure isn't that thick - what did you do?
-
I got this and it's "ok". Not very HD imo. When fastened tightly the rail still wiggles when you grab it. ? Mounting bolts seem small for what it's doing and the rail sits on hard plastic pieces that don't fasten to anything. At half the price of the Thule it will work for my casual use hauling 40lbs of paddleboards an hour to the lake. But if I was going to load it heavily and/or use it a lot, i'd be returning it and spending more money. FWIW

Thule Install on 2020 Transit Connect?
MLB replied to MaineVanGeek's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
from my reading that's what you have to do. But I thought i read that you could just loosen and lower the corner to access the hole? It is awkward, but not far from the access hole. -
42k on mine and not so much as a sniffle. Nothing but praise here.

A fusion is a heavier car than the focus and comes with heavier wheels (from what I read). Better match for TC's load hauling.
-
Yeh, but it's my work/delivery van primarily. If it was my daily driver id have swapped them long ago.
-
Bought the TC in 17 and the Fusion wheels soon after. But couldn't bring myself to spend $1,000 AND not use the OEM tires so i waited till NOW (42,000 miles) to get them mounted. Liked them when I got them and love them now. They remind me of the old "turbine" wheels from the 60's and 70's that you'd see on really nice custom vans, but with a bit of modern twist. And cheap. Don't notice significant ride degradation from the 235/45/18 tires but they sure stick nice (summer tires). Going to put winter tires on the stockers.

any way to use straps with oem flush mount side rails?
MLB replied to MLB's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
thanks! -
No matter how careful I am, I can't remove the oil dipstick to check the level without smearing the oil way passed the full mark, making it un-useable. I've tried angling it every direction as it's pulled out and nothing seems to help. Help?

THIS! Well documented in trucks, motorcycles, etc It basically has holes way too big to filter much of anything.

my 2016 has an hour meter as part of the #1 and #2 resetable settings menu.

Curt Hitch Class 2 or 3?
MLB replied to davidparker's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
i went with the class 2 for 1 reason. Weight. My 2" insert/ball weighs a lot more than the 1'1/4" setup, and so does the bigger framework of the class 3 versus 2. Why hang 20lb (guessing) extra lbs off the back of a light duty vehicle when you can never use the extra hd factor? Maybe the extras if you'll really use them. -
I've seen listing for Eibach springs for Transit Connects just recently. Also for Bilstein B6 shocks. Does anyone know if this is legit? Those Bilsteins might be big improvement if they really fit right and not just adapted from something else.

Does anyone make mounts that attach to the side rails like the cross rails do to give you an "eye" for mounting straps? There is nothing to strap to on this van! LOL Crazy to me to have a roof rack without the capability of tying the hauled object down!!!!!!!!! WTH?? I want the flush mount rails for non hauling times, but i need quick and easy tie down, so I 'may have to go with after market raised side rails.
-
ahhhh, it's the lack of tie down points for straps that kills this me! WTH?? Does anyone make a seperate piece to strap to that attaches the side rails like the cross rails do? I want the flush mount rails but I won't strap like that. PITA (JMO) I haul two paddle boards and I want quick and easy strap connection. Might have to go with the aftermarket raised side rails.

Transit connect/hitch hauler w/250cc scooter
MLB replied to DPL646's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Towing & Upfit Packages
Hanging the weight further back than the hitch ball means that distance acts as a lever and increases force pulling the back down. I'm 220lbs and when I step on the back of the van I compress the springs rather more than I'd like. It's a softly sprung vehicle in general, despite it's hauling capacity. That's why the ride is decent for a van. There are few hitch haulers that are a cradle for the front wheel only and the rear is on the ground, rolling on it's own. That takes most of the weight off the hitch and would work with a light van like this. Or tow a small trailer. Guarantee you won't be happy if you try hanging it behind a TC. -

Does anyone make an upgrade shock for these vans? -
Upgraded connect 2015 to ST style And performance 186 bhp

Very cool! -
I use adjustable bungee cords to tie the bikes upright. 1 pulling to each side will hold them just fine. On my van it's easy to find holes to hook them too. The adjustable bungees will make it workable for you. If you lift the front wheel onto the back (easy) it's not then much harder to lift up the back 1/2. A plastic auto ramp will come up to the bumper, easy to roll it in with a little lift. Or use a board to roll it all the way.
