TC XLT 2016 rear caliper and brake questions?
G B L replied to Willygee's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
The most important thing to torque is the lug nuts to prevent warping the rotors. caliper bolts are in the thirty lb range. -
When I was young J.C Whitney a mail order auto parts company use to sell The Econo Meter. It was a dash mounted vacuum gauge that was painted to help you save fuel. Now the computer handles it.

Car company's are cheap if it isn't cosmetic then they put it there for a reason. Not much money they should have sprung for the parts!!

Yes . the only reason to go in would be a very tight valve.

There is no regular interval. The better job you do on keeping the Oil clean the longer the Cam phaser and chain guides will last. Some of the 2.5s have clocked large mileages over 300000mi. It pays to keep the oil clean. As a side note the transmissions will benefit from Drain and fills at 25000 to 30000 mile intervals.

To measure the clearance is straight forward to adjust them requires the removal of the camshafts and that will require the cam timing to be involved. A formidable job and with a transverse engine . The 2.5 engine timing is a challenge as the crank sprocket does not have a key and relies on the clamping force of the balancer. If you measure them and they are not too tight I would stop there.

drivers pedal feels rough, suspension sounds clunky
G B L replied to gossipninja's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Assuming you are talking about the brake pedal. Which wheel went in the pot hole ?Has any one looked at the brakes of the affected wheel. Is the pedal the same height? -
Here is my observation on the Visors. The Crappy spring not withstanding , i have found that if you push the visor up and get a click then you let off and push again there will be a second click and the visor will be up. This is my observation over the 9 years I have had my van.

Does your Key fob open the Lift Gate? If so !!

Before you get too excited you should drive another TC to get and Idea of how these thing really ride. No one will ever mistake the ride in one of these for a Lincoln Town Car!

Cool. A good scan tool will allow a test of the EGR valve operation and help to solidify the diagnosis. A good scan tool will do a power balance test and that will show if the engine is in good running condition. If you pinch the hose to the booster does it smooth out? If so the booster could be leaking .

If the roller has fallen of or broken then replacement will be necessary.

You need a scan tool with live data and a test ride.

I have an MP3 player hooked to mine and It works great, I also have a blue tooth adapter that turns a digital signal to analogue and that also works very well. After doing this the Audio in My TC is completely satisfactory.

Looks like a lubrication issue. Needs to be cleaned up then something like Free All to get in a free it and then a spray grease.

If I had to guess I would look at the clutch as that was just replaced. The first place I look at is the last thing that was touched, in this case the Clutch.

The left front wheel bearing got noisy at 142600+ miles. The part is not expensive but because it is just a bearing and not a hub assembly the process is more involved. Not to hard with the right tools. Being a Vermont TC the rust on the steering knuckle added some time to the job. No getting around it where I live is hard on machinery !
