  1. congrats on getting your TC ordered. I'm guessing you're ordering a wagon model and not a van model since you're getting a roof rack option. I ordered my van via the Costco program so when at the dealer he entered my order into the Ford system and kicked out a 2 page Vehicle Order Confirmation. This lists all the options by name and their code and also MSRP and dealer Invoice. That's a requirement for the Costco program since you pay dealer invoice or in my case $100 less. I wanted to make sure the van had the right options ordered so it's important to see this since it takes months to get, in my case about 6 months. About 10 days after the order was placed into the Ford system the dealer got back a confirmation back from the ordering system that the van is ordered. You can make changes to the order until they issue a VIN number and schedule production. BTW - some forum posters weren't crazy about the quick clear. something about lines running through the front windshield that took some getting used to. you might want to do a search on that to find their posts. It's been a while. The regular defroster works really well for me but never had ice on the windshield. Poster GBL would be a good person to answer that question since he lives in that icebox state aka Vermont. Regarding other options to consider, I really like the backup camera option and the front/rear parking sensors. Highly recommend adding those. Also, it's really inexpensive to add extra key fobs when ordering, $65 msrp, but very expensive to get them later. I also love the fog lamps that are adaptive for cornering and the daytime running lights is an inexpensive option at $45) that's worthwhile.
  2. thanks for posting. that SSM 45441 is different than the one they used to fix mine back on 08/11/5 under SSM 44938. Next time I'm at the dealer I'll find out the difference.
  3. go to the website link below and punch in your VIN. Ford should provide your build info http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do When my van was built there was a link available that you could use to see your window sticker. That link doesn't work anymore but does send you over to a new one, shown below http://pub.s7.exacttarget.com/33usew0pe1k http://pub.s7.exacttarget.com/ih54wl1qnoi
  4. I was thinking he might want to use it as a hearse but I like your idea. I guess I wasn't thinking outside the box.
  5. thanks BHILLC. looking forwarding to seeing this. we talked a bit about the cargo mat in the thread link below. http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/3154-cargo-mat-for-van-models/?hl=%2Bcargo+%2Bmat In my exploration of this I've also seen the carpet extended beneath the driver seat all the back underneath this platform making it obvious it was installed at the processing center in Maryland converting the van from a "wagon" model to a cargo model. having someone document the steps involved in how to remove this platform will be very useful to myself and others I'm sure. thanks
  6. welcome to the forum. curious, why would you need an aux A/C unit for a TC?
  7. I think another poster figured out that since this van was from Canada the van was imported as a true cargo van and not a converted wagon at a processing facility. No chicken tax issues in Canada. The deck covering the seat well was welded at the factory. 2014 and 2015 would be the same for the US market and the assumption is that the deck is bolted in. No one has documented removing it. @BILLHC - please take some pics of what the deck looks like. many of us are curious as we'd like to capture this available space for storage. Can the deck easily be removed by undoing bolts? Was it hard to remove the cargo mat? thanks!
  8. I was thinking the exact same thing after reading Snowman's post. Does it taste like chicken?
  9. what amazes me about eazy's chart is that gas is only $2 a gallon. gas finally dropped below $3 for the low grade stuff at premium stations (Mobil, Chevron, 76) here in SoCa. Lots of taxes added on :( regarding warming up your car in the winter, just read this interesting article linked below http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-what-idling-your-car-in-the-morning-is-doing-to-your-engine-and-its-not-good-2016-1 I always let the van warm up until the idle kicks down automatically and then drive it easy as best I can. Not a lead foot anyways.
  10. is this this optional black keypad that you can order with the van or added as an accessory? same as the one shown in the pic below. factory mounts them on the driver's door.
  11. same part is shown on Ford's website as an accessory. http://accessories.ford.com/interior/cargo-organization/panel-asy-rear-package-tray-trim.html
  12. that's not good news. is this a dealer issue or a Ford issue or both? it's hard for me to understand why it's taking so long to get a transmission fixed or replaced. if it's a dealer issue, then have you considered having the van flat bedded to another more competent dealer?
  13. just saw a Promaster City ad on network TV. At first I thought it was the TC from a quick long distance shot. checked the internet and there are a few of them out there http://www.ispot.tv/ad/AAaX/2016-ram-promaster-city-wherever-you-go http://www.ispot.tv/ad/Aoj1/2016-ram-promaster-city-speaks-volumes http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7_0w/2015-ram-promaster-city-run-the-town those vans sure look similar. wonder if the Promaster City sales aren't doing well and that's the reason for the TV ads. Found two older ads for the Transit http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7hzs/ford-transit-own-the-work ok, now I getting sucked into finding all sorts of interesting Transit videos Review of TC vs Promaster City vs NV200
  14. good report. glad you're happy so far. you'll get used to that rear view mirror. I set mine on day 1 and haven't touched it since. the side view mirrors are excellent and since you have glass all around you'll have good visibility. I have barn doors and the frame in the middle creates an obstruction that you have to deal with . since you have a liftgate you won't have that. I had someone come up to me at the beach yesterday with total envy of my van setup. it's a great all around utility vehicle.
  15. that's awesome. I think you just set a record for getting an ordered van the soonest. wow! keep us posted on how the van looks with pics of course.
  16. I would agree that they should have a replacement transmission available regionally for installation to minimize down time. In SoCa this should be a fast fix with lots of TC's being serviced in the area. just like any major metro city. Not sure about the re-manufactured though. If your vehicle is under factory warranty, shouldn't you qualify for a new part replacement? I can see getting a re-manufactured after the warranty expires to save cost vs new, which would be your decision, but under warranty I'd want new factory Ford parts for all repair work. I hate hearing about an unhappy TC owner. bums me out. hope this gets resolved quickly and has a good ending.
  17. @booner - thanks for sharing your experiences. please keep us posted on any mods you make in the future.
  18. I guess that's good news. Would it be a good idea to remove air from each tire, one at a time, to verify the TPMS is triggered and then verify it goes away after the air is set to spec? just a thought.
  19. 10 passenger medium roof implies you're talking about a full size Transit van and not a Transit Connect? Are you asking about the code for the keypad to unlock the doors?
  20. @reppik - thanks for the update. sounds like a nightmare. similar to poster jimmyboost's experience - see post #19. I guess everyone once in a while you get a problematic transmission. That can be expected but the lack of attention from Ford is inexcusable. please keep us posted on what happens.
  21. sorry to hear about your van and can't help you with that issue. Curious, how many months have you owned your van? cause 85,000 is an amazing amount of miles in a short period of time. you must be getting the oil changed once a month. any issues with the van so far, transmission? thanks
  22. thanks for posting your story. sorry to hear about that. sounds like a real pain in the butt. not sure why it took so long to get your seal leak fixed. you're in SoCa, so parts are a day away and the repair can be done in a few hours. any idea why the transmission blew? could too much or too little AT fluid after your last service be the cause? at least you're still within the 5 year/60,000 mile warranty but I guess your confidence isn't very high right now. curious, do you carry a heavy load in the van? (assuming it's a cargo van and not the wagon) 41,000 miles is a lot of usage in a short period of time. you've spent a lot of time behind the wheel of this van. good luck sorting this out. please keep us posted
  23. thanks for the feedback. I'd be more concerned about the issue of mounting the vent on the ribbed uneven surface of the roof and that leaking than the vent itself. This issue was added to the product Q&A since I last looked in regard to mounting it on the roof of an NV200. http://www.etrailer.com/question-140729.html the bottom line is that if you need ventilation, you need to do something and it's a question of finding the best solution, which may not be optimal.
  24. thanks for posting. check out their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/reconcampers looks like the are doing NV200 conversions with some slick camping amenities.
