  1. it would be cool to find out how this mechanic made that fix. perhaps your friend can find out more. thanks
  2. @TC4K9's, check out the thread link below for lots of discussion about the OEM trailer hitch, aftermarket hitches and trailering in general with the Gen 2 TC Hope that helps. http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/3237-oem-trailer-hitch-gen-2-tc/?hl=towing#entry9624
  3. @mrez, check out the thread link below. your questions will be answered regarding Bob248's solution. Hope that helps http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/2406-roof-attachment-points-on-2014-transit-connect/?hl=%2Broof+%2Brack#entry6920
  4. I would base the timing on when the van leaves the factory, not the availability of the window sticker. If all vans are still being processed in Maryland, then that's your wild card based on how long that can take and then getting on a transport to the west coast. expect the worst and hope for the best. Your early June date seems reasonable. Good luck!
  5. 6. sorry to hear of your woes if the Ford mechanic didn't fix the problem the right way the first time and the problem happened again, it might have more to do with the mechanic's work and not the vehicle itself. But, there have been a few posters along the way that were never able to get it right after multiple attempts to get it fixed. not sure why when the majority isn't having this problem. Have you asked the service advisor what SSM they are using? That info should be shown on your paperwork as I posted above.
  7. @CAGE B8 - sorry for the diversion on your thread. many of us are interested in your efforts so please keep us posted. great work!
  8. that link doesn't work for me but I did find some interesting fodder in another TC Forum when looking for a 2017 Ordering Guide. See link below my fellow "Self proclaimed members who have come over from the UK Transit Connect forum with their bully tactics." And all along I thought we were "a$$wipes". http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/61049-transit-connect-forum-redirects/#entry971352
  9. I'd like to see the vent you have in mind. instead can you provide a website link to where you plan to get them?
  10. @Chris Kurtz - please check your paperwork from the first seal repair and see if the dealer referenced one of the two SSM's I mentioned in my post above (SSM 44938 or SSM 45441). Shown below is the list of parts under the SSM that was used to fix my seal leak.
  11. glad it worked out. that's what this forum is all about, TC bros helping bros
  12. what's the cost difference between diesel and petrol the EU? If you get the lowest octane petrol, will you get the similar performance? the specs are based on the highest octane. My preference is economy over any bump in performance. Also low maintenance and what's most reliable.
  13. I think you made a good investment. I have side and rear windows from the factory and the van has great visibility even though the rear side panel isn't windowed like it is in a wagon model.
  14. excited to see how you finish your van. please take lots of pics and keep us posted
  15. curious why you prefer the SWB over the LWB. I have a LWB and would actually like it if the van was a few inches longer in the cargo area for my gear. It's very easy to park the LWB, just like a station wagon in length.
  16. this is an interesting thread having never looked at the this part on the van, mine are black for a 2015 XLT Cargo model. chrome would look okay too since the van is silver. personally, it wouldn't matter to me. I first thought the whole van was pretty pedestrian looking with a -5 on the gnar factor scale of 0-10. Doesn't even register on the babe magnet scale. I've grown to like the design a little more now so it's moved up a few notches. For me, it's all utility and no curb appeal. If I were buying a new van today I'd go with a 2016 for better reliability and safety since it should have all the minor flaws of the previous 2014 and 2015 models fixed. Also, I'd want to get the BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert, which wasn't available on the '14 and '15 models. Have you checked out the Promaster City?
  17. can't wait to see your pics. thanks
  18. @jrm223 - thanks for the design ideas and pics. very helpful. @GBL - thanks for posting the pic of the wagon model step molding. I can see using that in place of the van step molding. It will be fun to see how we customize this storage area.
  19. @jrm223 - thanks for posting. I wasn't sure if you were going to post about this so I add a post and link to your gallery in the other storage thread http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/topic/3619-storage-under-the-lwbs-load-floor-extension/ many thanks for providing pics and info on your exploration. many of us are interesting in capturing this unused space. what do you plan to do next for creating a storage area? my initial thoughts were to replace the step molding with the one that comes with the wagon model since it has a lower step and create some type of access door on each side. I'd also like to have some open space behind the seats for stashing things. With my driver's seat all the way back there's no room between the seat back and the start of the platform. I'm not sure you need the platform to come as far forward as it does now for my use. Can't really figure this out until everything is removed. please keep posting as you make more mods.
  20. l could be wrong, but it looks like an NV200 or looked liked an NV200 until the freight train modified it. maybe the driver should consider a TC next time and definitely strap that ladder down better too http://www.msn.com/en-us/video/news/officer-saves-man-from-oncoming-train-with-seconds-to-spare/vi-BBqwW6R
  21. poster JRM223 recently added some nice pics to his gallery regarding the foot well area as a storage spot. I don't see a reference to them in any post so here's the link in case you missed it http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/gallery/image/1007-total-depth-of-steel-floor-without-vinyl-is-11-inches/ wonder why his van has vinyl flooring. as far as I can tell mine has black carpet, same as what's under the front seats and in front of them.
  22. @twinankhs - congrats on our your TC Sorry to hear about your tail light issue. bummer Must be the stop and go traffic out here in CA that did it unless you're one of those drivers that drives with two feet Hopefully you can get Ford Service to fix this as a warranty electrical issue. Quick way to Attach Pics 1 - Type in your message then select More Reply Option (next to Post option) 2 - Under Attach Files, select your image or PDF using either method below Choose Files (Advanced Loader Option) Browse (Basic Loader Option) 3 - Do a Preview Post to see your image The other options is to create your own Gallery and then when you post, you can select a pic from your gallery using the MY MEDIA option in the post toolbar. You can find the Gallery option in the upper right corner where your username is shown - select the down arrow and then select Gallery. If you need more help then please let us know. cheers!
  23. @paul - thanks for sharing your project. very nice job. It would be great if you could take some higher resolution pics and post them in your gallery. I'd really like to see the details of what you did by zooming in closer. Doing something similar has been on my to do list since I got the van and realized that more storage space is needed. Looking forward to seeing how others will capture this available storage space with their own unique designs. another forum member, WA0RTU, recently posted some exploratory pics of this foot well but didn't add them to a post. below is link to those pics http://fordtransitconnectforum.com/gallery/image/960-lot-o-wasted-space/
  24. I ordered the DRL as a factory option here in the US. Another poster a while back (over a year ago) had mentioned that your Ford dealer can easily program the DRL option for you. Nominal fee. Try asking your local dealer if they can do it for you.
  25. I'm providing an update on my transmission and recent service. I think there might be another transmission thread in the forum with more recent posts but I couldn't find it so using this one that has some history to it. Brought my TC in for a 5K service - 99P Multi-point inspection with oil change and filter, tire rotation. I plan to do oil changes at 5K intervals, which is about a years worth of mileage for me. Inspection of the left drive shaft seal showed no signs of leaking and the AT fluid was at the correct level, so it appears the SSM done back on 08/11/15 at 2,834 miles is working so far. The original seal was leaking and detected during the initial 1,000 mile oil change. I asked the Service Advisor what the difference is between SSM 44938 that I had done versus SSM 45441 that another poster had done (posted in that other thread). Advisor said the work under both SSM's is the same. The number difference is only based on the VIN. In case anyone is interested, the cost for the service was $39.95 plus $5.35 for an additional quart of oil. Last month I enrolled in Ford's Owner Advantage Rewards program on their website, which offers some member benefits that seem useful. No cost to sign up so check it out if you plan to have your TC serviced at a Ford dealer.
