  1. I have nothing against the new TC's other than I just dont like them for a work van. I cant see buying a mini van style van for my job when I already have a mini van sitting in the fleet. And mrtn hit the nail on the head in his post. Ford was not seeing enough sales from private sales on the 1st gen TC's like they expected. The vans just were not appealing to the soccer mom side of the market. Also I use the term "soccer mom" as a general description of a family vehicle/daily driver. So to combat this problem they changed the TC's design to be a mini van to grab the soccer mom market, and introduced the Transit for the work horse. Now my dislike of the 2nd gen TC is based solely on my experience of using my current mini van as my work vehicle for many years. I settled on the 1st gen TC as my work vehicle because I did not want another mini van, but the Chevy Express and the Ford Econolines were bigger than I wanted. But now that the Econolines have been replaced with the Transit, I would go that route over the TC's at this point. This includes the 1st gen and the 2nd gen TC's. But when it comes to buying a mini van, if I had to buy one right now to replace my 2000 dodge caravan it would be a 2nd gen TC wagon in a heart beat. I dont hate the vans or people who buy them, I just do not like them for what I do for work. Now the Transit Custom looks a lot like a Transit 150 SWB low roof here in the US from the pictures I have seen. But I could be wrong on this as I have never seen one in person.
  2. This is what I was trying to keep from happening. I do not like the TC 2014 to present. I would buy the Transit over a 2014 or newer Transit Connect. I do not need another soccer mom mini van, as I have a dodge caravan already for that. So very true. lol I like the looks of the new body style of the TC's, but not for my job. If I was to buy a 2014 or newer TC it would have to be the wagon.
  3. This is called wind buffeting. Makes your ears feel like they going to explode.
  4. Got the call yesterday saying that my van is 50% repaired. I jumped for joy when she said this one the voicemail, whew they didnt total it. I get to keep my membership card. Just hope that it looks half as nice as Jiquay's does when I get it back.
  5. $4K in damages so far. They started working on it yesterday and will probably find more damage once they actually get the hood to open. I am at the 50% mark of the 75% needed to total it so far. Either way it will get fixed even if I have to take less money and fix it myself. I have a hammer, WD40, and duct tape so all things are possible. LOL
  6. Went to harbor freight today. Got me some more rubber gloves for the shop. Love those 7 mil gloves. Walked around for about 30 minutes looking at what I wanted, then grabbed the 4 boxes of gloves I needed and left. My wish list grew yet again this trip.
  7. Hehe. A post about a tool store has broken. I dont remember posting that( I have slept since then ), but I like talking about stuff from Harbor Freight.
  8. No dead animals or attacked children. Other then that, no.
  9. Yeah. The Great State of North Carolina decided that our deer population in my County had grown to large. So they shortened our deer hunting season by 1 week and then started releasing coyote packs all over the county for 4 years straight several times a year. Now they are releasing wolves (which are not native here) all over the county to control the overwhelmingly large coyote population that they caused. Also they have increased our deer hunting season back up by 2 weeks now to help control the deer population because the coyotes fed on pets and livestock instead of the deer. They have also started a limitless open season on coyotes because the wolves are doing the same thing the coyotes did.
  10. Never. Here in my state the wildlife commission can issue a fine for killing the deer which is used to "replace" the killed animal. Instead I chose to leave the animal where it laid and feed the coyotes and wolves that my state keeps releasing in our neighborhoods against our wills.
  11. All this talk about grits is making me hungry.
  12. This is way above my pay grade. I wish you luck and hope that someone might be able to give some advice to you.
  13. I just realized this is a brand new topic that you started and quoted me in. Just as soon as I am able I will get my totes out of the van and start taking a inventory. This will also let me remember what all is in them myself lol. I giggle every time I hear someone say boot for the trunk and bonnet for the hood.
  14. $4k in damages so far just from what the adjuster could see without opening the hood. I am at 50% of the 75% required to total it so far. That may go up when they pop the hood and start pulling it apart. I just hope that does not happen. I killed this deer. Went by today and it was still laying there. :( It was very small and not worth trying to claim. Maybe I will have better luck from the tree stand later this year.
  15. Managed to kill Bambi on the way home Saturday morning. I may be losing my membership card. :( Man I hope they do not total this thing out.

    Jacks

I love getting an email on my phone and opening up the gmail app to see the Harbor Freight email with the coupons. But jacks are a great tool that we all have to have and use at some point. I am looking for a good floor jack to put in my OH CRAP tote in the van and move the scissor jack to a only if I have to role. And that is another topic right there, the OH CRAP tote. Something everyone should have tucked away in the vehicle. Might have to inventory mine one day on here. Unless someone else wants to start that topic off. Never know when you going to need tools and common parts.

Here is some good advice on tools that was given to me by my Dad and is so very true. If you are going to use a tool to make a living then spend the money to get the best and you well get your money back in profits. If you are going to use the tool for personal use only then get the cheap stuff because you will break it and lose it. Better to have the best on the job when it has to work, and the cheapest at the house when you cant find it or its broken. (I liked to take his tools outside and leave them when I was younger) But one thing to remember is to never compromise on safety for savings. Now back to putting my harbor freight tools back into my harbor freight toolbox. I like saving money also.

  22. Let's get back on topic here everyone.
  23. Just as a heads up, neither of the links in your post work.
  24. I make it a point not to delete stuff unless it is a issue, or the poster wants it removed. So if you wish it to be gone I can make it happen, just say the word.
