Kenwood Radio/Navigation Unit Install (2012 TC)
BSUPC replied to BSUPC's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
I have more pictures to post but have not had the time yet to get them uploaded. Almost done with the radio/navigation install, just need to make up my mind on the speakers for the rear barn doors and a backup camera. Also thinking of removing the passenger seat to make space for another idea(still researching this one). -
Not making fun of you Don, but this made me laugh so hard I fell out of my chair. I love when they say something never needs maintenance. I guess this is the results you get when you try to take a work van and try to cater it to the soccer moms. Glad I got the 2012 now. I really do not know much about the gen 2's. But if I ever have to get another work van I guess I will make the step up to the Transit instead. Maintenance free. lol

I also went ahead and removed the bulkhead and started working on dropping the headliner for routing cables and stuff for another project I am also working on. -
Kenwood Radio/Navigation Unit Install (2012 TC)

Got all of the interior panels removed so I can easily run all of the antenna wires and such for the GPS and satellite radio. Also went ahead and pulled the factory radio as well. -

I will be adding pictures of the install as I make progress on this upgrade. But for now I am just starting the thread and locking it for the time being. Parts should be arriving today. Going to add the pictures of the parts to this main post and then continue with the work pictures below. Also going to unlock this now. Items used in this project:

I just ordered a new radio/navigation system for my 2012 along with new front door speakers. I will be adding rear speakers to the rear barn doors later on once I figure out the size I wish to use and find a good set of marine grade speakers. The only reason for me adding the rear barn door speakers is for when I am out and about I can throw the rear doors open and turn the volume up and jam while I work. But that is just why I will be installing them in my cargo van, not really trying to improve the sound inside while driving.

This is a look under the oil pan of the 2012 TC transmission. -
Did they change this one the 2nd Gen ? I just done my flush and filter change a couple thousand miles ago on my 2012. Below is a look under the oil pan of the 2012 transmission. The big black plastic with the small yellow square in the middle is the filter on these.

Washer wiper issues
BSUPC replied to KM272's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lights, Mirrors, Window Tint & Wipers
I am with mrtn on this. replaced a set of rainx latitudes with the icons. The icons work but left a lot to be desired in heavy heavy thunderstorms. I have now switched the icons out for a set of trico flex beam. I really like the rainx latitudes and the bosch icons were not to awfully bad, but the tricos are just down right pathetic in a good hard 18 wheelers pulling off the road type downpour. At least the icons allowed me to still halfway see in this situation, but never had a problem with the latitudes. Now with the latitudes I did not have any streaking till they were just about ready to be replaced. The Icons would make a up and down swipe with very minimal streaking while on a delayed wiper setting only. The trico is nothing but a windshield streaking machine, they leave more streaks than water they remove. These are just my experiences with these 3 name brands on my 2012 TC. Yalls experience may differ. I can not comment on how well these wiper blades remove bugs as I clean my windshield every night before I leave the house for my route, and if need be I clean it again about the halfway point of my route. -
Was sent this website tonight from a friend at work who also has a TC. Here is a video of checking the cabin air filter. I was told the 2012 did not has one also from my dealer, but thought i twas funny that Rock Auto as well as Amazon were selling them for the 2012. https://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2010_Ford_Transit_Connect_XLT_2.0L_4_Cyl._Mini_Cargo_Van/air_filter_cabin/check

Remove the black plastic trim from under the passenger side wiper blade. You will find a compartment with a black plastic piece inside of it. You have to remove the black plastic piece and replace it with the filter. I used this Fram filter that I purchased from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/CF9118A-Fresh-Breeze-Filter-Hammer/dp/B001CEG9BC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498127385&sr=8-1&keywords=CF9118A

The American version of the 2012 does not come with the cabin air filter installed. You have to purchase the filter and install it own your own. I guess they figure those bloody Americans are tough, they dont need no bloody air filter.
